Hyperdimension Neptunia (PS3/PS4/Vita games)
« on: September 06, 2013, 09:20:04 PM »
While there's a separate thread for this series' anime adaptation, it seemed that discussing the games themselves (on both PS3 and Vita) was as well to be done here.

So, here is the recently-uploaded first PV for Re; Birth 1, the upcoming remake of the first Hyperdimension Neptunia:

Another PV for Re; Birth 1, showing the difference between it and the PS3 original:

There was a Nepstation news broadcast online recently.

Apparently, Nepgear is gonna be in Re; Birth 1, there is going to be a Re;Birth 2, more info on Noire's new game will be published in November's Dengeki PlayStation, a new Noire figurine will appear in an upcoming LE, and CH are working on a new console-based Neptunia title.

Nepgear is Neptune's little sister, who represents the Sega Game Gear. (Noire's sister Uni represents the PSP, while Blanc's sisters Rom and Ram together represent the DS. Vert has no little sister, since Microsoft do not make a handheld of their own.)

She wasn't in the first HDN game, but was the lead character in mk2 (which took place in a paralled universe unrelated to the first game). It seems that Re; Birth 1 is adjusting things so as to tie the original trilogy together, so presumably whatever presence she has there will be followed up on in Re; Birth 2 (which is most likely going to be a Vita remake of mk2 itself).

Ah, OK, I see. So, the "little sisters" are the hand-held versions?

Indeed.

Timeline-wise, the original HDN was kept apart from MK2, but both Mk2 and Victory are set in the same storyline (though V involves interactions with yet another parallel timeline). PP, the idol game, seems to be in its own stand-alone continuity, while Re; Birth 1 and Re; Birth 2 will presumably be in a shared timeline (but it's too soon to tell if it's meant to be the same timeline/s shown in mk2 and V). Noire, the PS3 stand-in, will be getting her own game on Vita (the one which will be detailed in November's issue of Dengeki PlayStation), but it's not known which timeline that game will be in either.

Also, IF have a Vita-related piece of news they will announce on Monday. Too soon to tell if it will be Nep-related or not, however.

Hmm, looks interesting.

What was that "news" they were talking about, anyway?

A new RPG for the Vita in 2014, being worked on by the guy who directed Disgaea 4. (It doesn'T seem to be Neptinua-related.)

Also, the day after, Idea Factory - the owners of Compile Heart - announced they are setting up an inernational branch in California.

So we'll be getting the idol game spinoff for PS Vita next year in North America and in Europe.

For those with a Japanese PSN account set up on their Vita, Re; Birth 1 has gone up as a just-under-2.7-gig download.

Also, it seems that Plutia and Peashy from V will soon be made available for the game as DLC extras - as will Histoire, who will be a playble character for the first time in the Neptunia franchise.
