Forest, admittedly, was sulking.  She was sitting on her mattress, holding her favorite pillow with her lower lip thrust out.   I was bloody overruled.  In my own damned house, she thought as she rested her chin on top of the pillow.

The Impaler got to take Lucas.  Wynn had grabbed her and shadowed her to where La Folia was still sleeping to let the fiend take the surly elemental.  Once she had ran back downstairs they were gone, the Space Marines were looking like they wanted to kill something, and there was Karna.

So she retreated back to her room to keep from punching something or screaming at someone.

******

Godmother wasn't in the mood to talk, and Herr Rattus seemed like a nervous sort, so of course he told Mommy Dearest about him before heading to the kitchen.  La Folia would probably be waking up soon and need something to eat, so he started to make her a good breakfast of French toast and eggs.

******

Wynn emerged from the shadows behind the man in the black duster sitting in Forest's public study.  She folded her arms under her breasts, smirked, and asked, "May I help you, sir?"

******

Lancer smirked and said, "So, you up for a wee bit of a run then?"

In the end, it all worked well.

But "well" turns out to be subjective in this case. There was no conflict as the gentlemanly lord took away the creature and the newcomers Henry brought in didn't let their trigger fingers the best of them. Samantha, or so Matthew, would call her seemed to be fine. All except for a certain blonde vampire.

There was no reason for him to stay in the infirmary any longer as his equipment was being brought in, unneeded. No one injured or ill. His services were obviously unnecessary at this point.

"I think I'll leave it to all of you to your own devices," the doctor calmly said before he left the room.

His footsteps carried him over down the hallway. Each step bringing further away from the parking lot where the car with his personal belongings were waiting for him. There was something more important to worry about.

Henry gently knocked upon the black hardwood door at least loud enough for her to hear.

"Forest? Are you alright?"

Forest blinked as she heard a knock on the door and looked up.

Henry's voice came through the other side, "Forest? Are you alright?"

She frowned and answered, "I'm bloody lovely."

For the 6th time that day, Lancelot questioned his sanity.

Not counting the fact that he still retained his old class ability, the former Berserker class Servant of the Holy Grail War, currently probing through what he gathered to be a small shopping district, was unsure how he was even alive. He had been killed at the hands of the one who used to be his king, but instead of dying and vanishing from existence, he was now in a world that never should have existed. Lancelot had vague memories of the city he had inhabited while under the Mad Enhancement, but at the time he had been unable to truly appreciate how different it was from Britain. Looking back, it seemed more like a dream than anything.

That was no longer the case. The man who once held the title “Knight of the Lake” had regained his sanity, and with it the ability to analyze his surroundings. What he found deeply disturbed him.

The city was enormous, shaming even Camelot, the crown jewel of his old nation. Massive buildings that bore minimal resemblance to those from Lancelot’s lost home were tightly crammed together, separated here and there by incredibly wide roads that were coated with this black and white… substance that did not at all look like dirt or stone, and were traversed not just by people, but also metal wagons of all shapes and colors that somehow required no horses.

The largest constructions towered higher than any castle spire, and were seemingly composed of glass – GLASS – and he had even spotted what could best be described as a loud and enormous metal dragonfly as it flew overhead, far above. The shapes, colors, smells and sounds were all just so alien that the dark knight simply couldn’t wrap his mind around it all.

It felt so surreal. Lancelot couldn’t help but wonder if he hadn’t actually recovered from the Mad Enhancement.

And then there was that magic window that created a portal with which to see and hear people who weren’t actually there. But what really got Lancelot’s attention was the people who were shown in the portal – or more to the point, her.

Die.

It was her.

DieDieDie.

Arthur, the Once and Future King.

DieDieDieDieDie.

Lancelot ruthlessly crushed the voice as soon as he was aware of it. Whatever it was had haunted his dreams last night, before he had woken up in a no-man’s land and found his way here. He couldn’t remember it very well, but traces of it seemed to linger.

A passing pedestrian had been kind enough to inform him of the location the magic portal was connected to, despite giving the berserker some strange looks. Lancelot knew that the full plate armor and helmet he wore always stood out from among the common rabble, but the stares he was taking in from the commoners around him were more confused than awed or scared. It indicated that knights such as himself were not common here, and that was just one more oddity in this world of madness.

The former knight didn’t know how she could have gotten here, but then again his own existence was even more impossible. Truthfully, it was possible that he was mistaken and it wasn’t actually King Arthur at all. Her clothes resembled the local attire more than her kingly robes or armor, her golden hair flowed over her shoulder and her features seemed just a little bit sharper than he remembered, but Lancelot did not believe himself mistaken. The king simply could not be confused with anyone else.

A pit of anxiety was opening in his gut. He wasn’t sure how the woman who had once been his king would react to meeting him again. Did she remember what had transpired during the Grail War? Had it even happened in reality? Would she have him kneel before her and executed on the spot? Uncertainty ate at him, but the simple fact was he had nowhere else to go. He needed an answer, needed to understand, needed for something to make sense, and even if he were to not survive the endeavor, knowing that the king he once proudly served still lived on, even here, would be enough.

Finally, Lancelot reached his destination. There across the street she stood, commanding the attention of several men and women, some holding equipment he couldn’t identify. The former Servant had no doubt that this was Arthur, her radiance shining like the sun.

-Dirty dirty dirty you are dirty-

He didn’t allow himself to hesitate.

The Knight of the Lake stepped out of the shadowed alleyway to cross the street and was promptly taken the fuck down by the largest self-propelled metal wagon he had ever had the misfortune to encounter. The semi-truck crushed him under its wheels the way people step on insects.

Slowly, and painfully, Lancelot began to force himself onto his feet, gleaming white armor in Gawain’s likeness for all to see, and he had to wonder why on Earth being run over gave him such a strong sense of deja-vu.

The gates of Castlevania slowly opened as the two travelers stood before it. Well, it would be fair to say that only one of them was a traveler. The other was little more than a sack of meat impaled with stakes throughout its body. Dragging the twitching (twitching-!?) corpse behind him, the well dressed gentleman entered the castle, the massive gates closing behind him with a note of finality.

Change was stirring on the breeze, and this little incident was the first of many things yet to come

-------------------

"It is as you said. I have spotted unusual beings and phenomenons while wandering around this place. I remember this tall man clad in a white armor. His face was completely hidden behind a mask and he held tremendous power. I could not make sense of his motivations but I think he was introducing himself in a very loud and imperious way. Maybe he was some sort of buffoon since people threw money coins at his feet afterwards. He didn't picked them up though."

Gilgamesh snorted.

"I have heard of this… man. An overzealous dog, in truth."

"Should we do something about it?"

The King of Heroes looked up at the sky, his expression undecipherable for but a moment. His gaze then fell back upon Enkidu, and he smiled. It was not, as one might say, a very nice smile. He looked around the streets of the city one more time before speaking to his one, and only, friend.

"The fact that I cannot greet you with the welcome of the finest of cities to celebrate our reunions saddens me. Too long, I think, have I been avoiding my new kingdom. The people and creatures that roam these streets have grown complacent, secure in their knowledge that they are safe from retribution. That they are safe," His perfectly formed teeth ground together. "To walk these streets as they please without fear of my wrath."

He looked at Enkidu, his red eyes hard as steel.

"This is my city now, and I will not have it tainted. Was not Uruk a happy city? But here… here there is cowardice, fear, rising from the streets and flooding the whole city with its stench."

The Golden King stretched out a hand to Enkidu, his eyes beseeching.

"What do you say, my friend? I will bring you and your companions to what passes for a palace in this place, and then we may once more let our names ring from every corner of this city as legends - let the brotherhood of Gilgamesh and Enkidu be known once more! We can solve the problem of this… blight that plagues the streets of the city, and in turn, let it grow to resemble the splendor of a city that is worthy of rule!"

-----------------

"Oh, I could heal her, but I doubt the consequences would be pleasant. And at the moment, grim irony is not what I seek. One of my companions, however, is true of skill and results, if tricksy of demeanor, and she could and would help you if I so ask and call for her, my dear."

“I will graciously accept your friend's help.”

"He is not my friend… but if that is what you desire."

Wanderer carefully approached Uchiten, and laid Cina on the snow between them before backing up a few steps, his boots crunching the snow underfoot. He caught the look that the girl gave him, and nodded back. 'I promise' - that was the message his nod conveyed.

He had tarried a little too long in this region. Tempers were rising throughout the neighborhood, fights being close to breaking out. He could feel it. Even so, the cowboy did not leave his place in the snow.

MERCER

Being thrown in to what he could only assume was some alternate reality with a hodgepodge of people and infrastructure from different locations across the globe had not made Alex Mercer a happy camper.

It’s not as though he actually cared all that much about his old home. Blackwatch was full of sociopathic assholes and the REDLIGHT plague was worse only by virtue of wanting to eat everything forever. If he was honest with himself, Mercer could admit that regardless of how fucked up this Nexus City place probably was, he would be better off here than back in Manhattan.

The problem was that he wasn’t concerned about himself. Dana was still back there, and without him to make sure she was safe the young woman would be all but helpless against either the military or zombies. That was absolutely unacceptable. He had gone through metaphorical hell to make sure his “little sister” would be alright, and she had accepted him, even as messed up as he was.

Well, that wasn’t quite true. Dana knew that her brother wasn’t human anymore, but what she didn’t know was that her real sibling and the monster she sheltered in her home were two separate beings, and that “Alex” had simply stolen her brother’s shape and name. Even so, she hadn’t thrown him out upon discovering how monstrous he was, and that was a fuckton more than anyone else had done for him.

So he had to go back, dimension crossing magic be damned.

An information gathering tactic involving “politely” asking passerby where he could find someone to help him out and eating the particularly irritating humans, Mercer now had the location of some savant who went by the moniker of Law Unto Herself. Odd name, but that really didn’t matter. Hopefully she would be cooperative and he wouldn’t have to eat her too. It would be a shame to have to kill someone who allegedly did good things for the world, since the one he came from was severely lacking in such persons.

It wasn’t long before Mercer reached the compound. The building was impressively large, but he must be approaching it from the wrong angle because he couldn’t see a door. Indifferent to common courtesy as he was, ZEUS decided to hop onto the roof and see if there was an entrance there. If the roof was sturdy enough, it would probably only crack a little under his weight. If not… well, there wouldn’t be any need to worry about finding a way inside.

After the impalement of the dreaded Car Destroyer, and his subsequent dragging off, Archer had faced a quandary, at least in the best way to proceed. His hostess was obviously not in the best of moods, and likely sulking in her room about the entire incident. There was of course only one solution to this problem: Tea. Of course, his search for the beverage was somewhat interrupted by the sight of a rather haggard looking man eating what looked like some strange amalgamation of fried eggs, toast, and bacon. Archer didn't catch his name, and was pretty sure it wasn't 'Dmffammmn"Luckily, he pointed out where some rather good tea was in between muffled bites of his... sandwich... thing. Quickly making a good strong cup of Tea, Archer set out for Forest's room.

After silently watching and listening, he gave a knock on the door as well. "You are bloody lovely, Forest, so please let us in. I brought tea."

Forest continued to toy with the pillow when another voice joined in with Henry's.

"You are bloody lovely, Forest, so please let us in. I brought tea."

Despite everything, she felt her lips curve up ever so slightly as she rose from the mattress.  Still hugging the pillow, she padded over to the door and opened it.  Indigo eyes peered at the living vampire and the Servant from above the pillow before she moved to go sit back on the bed.

Wynn would have chided her for acting like a child, but right now she didn't care.  Her voice was somewhat muffled by the pillow, "Thanks."

******

Gabriel entered his room and sat the tray on the nightstand beside La Folia.  He smirked and said, "Folly, I have brought you breakfast."

There was French toast, an omelet with cheese, mushrooms, and red peppers, and fruit.  He had a glass of milk there as well.

******

"What can you tell us about these murders?  Are we talking about a serial killer here?  Who's the teenage girl, Detective Frost?  Why is she here?"

Saber had only worked with her partner for a week, but she was already starting to learn Quinn's tells.  His dark blue eyes were narrowing.  Literally the calm before the storm or the bleakness of a shark's eyes before they attacked.  The reporters swarmed closer, pushing microphones and cameras in Quinn's face.

The former King saw her partner's nails start to lengthen and sharpen as he clutched the podium.   Saber smoothed her hair back and straightened her leather jacket before moving towards the masses.  She said, "I am employed by the Nexus Police Department as a consultant to assist Detective Frost with supernatural threats that are beyond the scope of the police.  You may call me Saber.  As to your questions, Detective Frost has graciously answered them to suit your needs.  Do not turn these tragedies into a farce to feed the bloodlust of this town.  We merely wish to warn the magic wielders of this city of this potential danger.  That is all.  We will release more information once we have it."

The reporters went loud, trying to thrust their cameras, flashing lights, and devices in her face.

Quinn's dark blue eyes met hers and again she was struck by the sheer beauty of his face, a rival for even Diarmuid's.  She could appreciate it like a fine piece of stained glass or artwork.   The former king smiled slightly at her partner and he smiled back, careful not to show his elongated canines.

"Saber, what do you have to say about this?"

"Saber, why would the police employ a teenage girl to . . ."

Saber turned to face them again and said, "Enough!  Detective Frost and I have . . ."

She saw something in the distance.  Something familiar that caused her chest to tighten and her breath to catch.  No, it can't be . . ., she thought as she saw the familiar black knight standing there.  Then he began to cross the street, in the midst of on coming traffic.

Of course, the knight didn't realize what a car was and was promptly hit by a semi.  "No, let me through," Saber shouted and people parted for her instantly as she rushed over to the fallen, gleaming Knight with Quinn on her heels.

Henry wasn't quite sure what to say this. But the man in red sure did as he brought along tea to placate their landlady as the doctor finally heard movement. The door finally opened as it seemed to provide a room of purple. With pillow in her face and eyes above for sight, it was obvious she was distraught. But definitely seemed to long for this newcomer.

"C'mon in," Henry told the tea-ladened man. He gestured him to go on inside first.

While he waited for the Servant to enter the room, he glanced around the spacious room that Forest claimed as her own. Amethysts on the four corners stood stonily in place. The symbol of crows on the walls seem to serve as stead-fast sentinels. A number of other necessary furniture and paraphernalia existed inside this sea of purple.

"It's pretty big here," Henry remarked as he grasped a hand on the doorknob, "I'm jealous."

LANCELOT

The dark knight was once again reminded of how much he really, really appreciated his armor. He would definitely be feeling that one for a day or two.

Staggering to his feet, Lancelot suddenly realized that King Arthur had already moved to his side, a young man with a pretty face in tow. She stared at him, her focused green eyes not sure what to make of the former knight standing before her.

Civil war, inducement, false statement, theft, robbery, kidnap, suicide, rape, arson, bombing, violation, negligent homicide, mass violence, death at work, overconfident accident,

He stared back, a combination of shock from realizing she was not hiding her gender and embarrassment from having been knocked on his ass preventing him from speaking.

Old habits took over at that point, and Lancelot dismissed his For Another’s Glory ability. An inky black aura briefly began to seep from his armor as white faded into dark purple, and then the aura vanished entirely, leaving the Knight of the Lake unhidden before the one he used to call his Lord.

The starting penalty is five.

Armor clinked as the former Servant took a knee and bowed before Arturia Pendragon. He wanted to acknowledge her as his king once again, but he no longer had that right. “King Arthur” he said simply, awaiting her judgment, and gritting his teeth as he tried to drown out the voices in his head.

Staff Sergeant Jonathan Mathews:

Though the situation was not ideal, Jonathan decided that this is the best possible course of action. He left the sleeping Samantha in the hands of the finally introduced Dragoon (a Corporal Elizabeth Blackwell) and Togg while he seeked out the owner of the compound. From how Henry spoke on the ride up her, it belonged to that blonde woman named Forrest. However, she disappeared from the infirmary while he wasn't looking.

So, Jonathan found himself walking out of the Infirmary and wandering around the basement. When he heard people speaking, he followed the voices until he, lo and behold, he found Forrest, along with Henry and another white haired man (Must be a common genetic trait for this planet).

It was now time to introduce himself and to make a few requests, Mathews reckoned. He gently tapped the door, "Excuse me..."

Quote

Songbird:

Songbird was becoming tired of playing in the snow. It was no longer interesting, really; becoming disturbed enough to prevent any more fun to be had.

The manbird unfolded his wings and took off, returning to his roost. However, upon landing the top of the compound, he quickly discovered an intruder took up residence in his home. That outright pissed Songbird off! He found it first; It's his, dammit!

The formerly green eye lenses swapped to red, and the manbird emitted a roaring challenge to the Hooded Man. He then flew right up into the air, and zeroed in on the intruder, preparing for a vector strike. He then made his attack, diving at the soon-to-be-dead intruder...

There was French toast, an omelet with cheese, mushrooms, and red peppers, and fruit.  He had a glass of milk there as well.

With a tentative yawn, the princess stirred from her sleep. She wasn't this bad at getting up usually, but last night's... strenuous activities had made her tired.

A sound that can only be written as something like "mwuaaaaaaaaah" escaped her as she tried to speak. "Good morning, Gabriel. What's the time, this seems a bit early?"

La Folia sat up on the side of the bed, fully naked as she eyed the feast of a breakfast she had been brought. "My! Is that all for me? I doubt I can eat that much, but I will try."

Amy

Finishing the last slice of her toast Amy stretched her arms, “Ahh, that feels good.” There was an incredibly sense of contentment that Amy was feeling, a good night’s sleep and a simple breakfast always made her feel good.

“Want to go find her? She couldn’t have gotten too far.”

Leaving behind a half-filled tea cup and an empty plate as she wiped her face clean with a napkin, Fiore responded with a chiming voice.

"Sure. Let's go check the hotel's facilities before we go running around, however. I doubt she has actually left the building."

Indeed, this piqued his interest, but more interesting to him was the fact that the woman had astounishing amount of what seemed to resemble Quintessence. Fuck, is she a walking Node or something?

Turns out it was family. "Now I only been in this here city for a few days, sad to say. No luck here, my man. Though I ain't doin anything 'cept wanderin' round tryin' not to give in to prehistoric impulses. Y'all need any help I'd be more than willin' to lend a hand."

"I mean, I'd be happy with the help, but I don't have much to go by, my phone barely works, the police have been absolutely useless and we're on a wild goose chase. If you wanna give me a hand I'd be, uh, really happy."

MERCER

The Prototype had just reached the door on the rooftop when he heard a loud screech from above that sounded somewhat like a sound a bird would make. He looked up in annoyance to see what was making the sound, just in time to witness a giant-ass metal bird decide to have him for lunch and commence a dive.

What the fuck?

That moment of hesitation almost cost Mercer a lot of his biomass, but he was able to pull an all-out dive to the right before the machine slammed into the roof with the force of a falling star. Mercer’s legs weren’t quite out of the way yet, and all biomass that was located below the knees was ripped away. He landed heavily on his side, and the roof cracked and buckled dangerously below both him and the enormous bird.

In the second required to regenerate the lost portion of his legs, ZEUS assessed the situation. He was under attack by something that could fly, so it would be best to remain on high ground, but the roof was soon going to give way and cease to be a viable position. Therefore, he would have to ground the bird before it took off again.

Having decided on a course of action, Mercer transformed his right arm into a hideous scythe-like blade. Charging forward, he swung his newly formed weapon to cut off the irritating robot’s wings one after the other.
