Uchiten
In the night of Nexus City, where monsters and heroes dwelled, where the breath of magic was strong in the earth and air, where the good and the defenseless were at the mercy of wrongdoings, and where sin and debauchery festered; a specter feasted on the essence that sustained him, regained form, and opened his eyes.
Ketsumoto Uchiten beheld the world through his unnatural eyes behind dark red shades. He recognized the sprawl of cultural monuments across the skyline. He felt the power surging through the unlikely city in which he found himself. He acknowledged the many brilliant points of strength amidst the millions of worthless, diminute sparks that were the lives of the populace. Looking within himself, he observed his powerful, irrefutable, fixed existence, and he felt the presence of his familiars through the undeniable link of the contract that connected them.
He was alive.
Instead of vanishing in the void of limbo, vanquished from the world in the final confrontation he had sought, content in the chaos and the potence of that worthy last bit of fun, he had survived and been reborn. For whatever reason, his end had been averted, and the sliver of himself that remained had been pulled to this place; where the darkness of man had seen fit to renew him to torment others once more.
Yes. He, Ketsumoto Uchiten, was alive. And he felt wonderful.
"HA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-HAH!"
He laughed. He laughed loud enough to be heard hundreds of meters away. He couldn't contain his mirth at the situation, nor did he want to. Let anyone who was bothered by it join him in celebration.
In a short time thereafter, Uchiten slowly exhaled as his outburst came to an end. With his mind settling, he adjusted his black suit and grey shirt, straightening out greases, smoothed back his black hair, and smiled at the city.
"Zan. Shi. Homura." he called out.
In response to his voice, three humanoid shapes shimmered behind him, appearing in scattering motes of light one after the other.
The first was a man of a wild mien, over 2 meters in height, with disheveled white hair and a single blue eye. His build was lean, but powerful, muscles noticeable against his clothes. Several scars adorned the visible skin of his face, neck and hands, the ugliest of them partially hidden by the eyepatch over the right side of his face. He carried a long japanese sword with him, and a neutral, deadpan expression.
The second was a veritable titan, a bulky form of almost 4 meters tall. A strong, taut torso and disproportionately large, incredibly thick arms stood out, making the being's, by comparison, thin legs seem comical despite their equally muscled shape. A simple, rectangular mask with drawn eyes and a zigzagged line as though teeth, covered all of its face; and dreadlocks extended from the back of its skull. In all, and with the addition of feet that didn't seem to have toes, it was an almost cartoony appearance.
The third figure that appeared was a woman. Or rather, a beautiful girl of golden hair, partially held in a bun at the back of her head, and eyes like blue flames; her appearance not quite like that of an adult, but a childish older teen. Atop her head was a pair of lively animal ears, behind her a single tail. She had a smile like an imp.
Like Uchiten, the three wore modern clothing, but unlike him had taken to more informal outfits. The titan especially so, lacking even shoes and wearing an oversized set of biker leathers like clothing, open at the torso.
As the onmyouji turned to face them with a smile, the three dropped to their knees in respect.
"What is your bidding, master?" the white haired man asked, gaze low.
If possible, Uchiten's smile seemed to widen as he addressed the one that spoke. "Zan, do you know where we are?"
Zan raised his eyes and directed them to his master as he responded.
"I do not. Does it matter?"
As if expecting that response, Uchiten chuckled in knowing amusement.
"It does." he began, raising an arm to gesture in grandeur at the skyline. "Look at this city. This new and promising metropolis. On a whim of Fate or whatever else, we have survived oblivion, and now we find ourselves here, on a clean slate."
The evil spirit spinned around in place, giggling at his own words, before coming to a halt and lowering his hands to his pockets.
"And we are going to have some fun."
The other two immediately raised their heads at their master's words. The titan's expression was hidden behind its mask, but the girl with fox ears looked up positively radiant as her tail shook from one place to another.
"We're going to mess with mortals again? And cause mayhem? And make trouble for everyone?" she asked, excitement plain in her voice.
"Yes, Homura." the onmyouji answered. Then, another voice followed in questioning, from the masked titan.
"Crushing? Maiming? Murdering?"
"Indeed, Shi." Uchiten nodded, laughing lightly.
At that, Shi joined Homura in her elation, cackling darkly beneath his mask. Besides them, the corner of Zan's lips curved upwards and he gripped his sword tighter.
"But, before anything else, we are going to go out and see what this place has to offer, and all the fun we can have." Uchiten declared. "So accompany me in the flesh. I would like to share the trip with you all."
With the end of his sentence, Uchiten slowly walked away before jumping down to the streets of Nexus City. Zan immediately followed him, with Shi and Homura doing the same in an instant.
