Emile
Emile took a moment to gather himself, racking his mind for what he could remember from there on out.
"I don't really remember much after I made it through the Hedge," he admitted, "Just that I ended up meeting this search party, not one of the Gentry's, but...different. Well, I didn't know that at the time, so...they kinda had to get a bit rough. Regardless, long story short, I found myself being asked a few questions. Honestly, at that point, I just wanted to forget about my time in Arcadia, but...I couldn't. One of them reassured me that I would though."
At this point, the Changeling allows an honest smile for the first time since he'd started his story, "Alastor was a pretty cool guy. Bit of an airhead at times, I suppose, but what can you expect from an Air-touched? Anyway, he was the one that introduced me to the Spring Court, the so-called Court of Desire, and to my freehold, the Amber Revelry. ...Really, each of the Courts has their own way of coping with their time with the True Fae. The Winter Court hides from them, the Autumn Court outmaneuvers them, the Summer Court fights them head on, the Spring Court...we move on. Simple as that. What happened, happened, but there's no way in hell it's going to keep us from doing what we want with our lives."
"But I digress," Emile said, taking another sip, "Alastor took something of an interest in me, or rather the potential he saw. He got me a few meetings here and there in the beginning, but, aside from mentoring me, he left me to my own devices. Admittedly, the games of power in the Spring Court were actually kinda fun, so climbing the ladder was hardly a chore. Now medical school, oh boy, that was tough."
"Oh yeah," the Changeling winces a little, "Forgot about that. Soon as I could, I worked at getting into medical school. After all, I'd wanted to be a doctor when the Dandy Man took me. It was part of my own way of getting past it. Of proving to myself that I could get over what happened, that I would."
"Anyway, from here, there's not really much in the way of notable events," Emile explains, "I continued my way up the Court's figurative ladder, working my way through medical school at the same time, thank god for certain Contracts, and before too long reached the top. Vernal Sovereign of the Amber Revelry. Some of the movers and shakers didn't really like how my focus was divided, but never really made anything of it, and nothing really noteworthy happened. I would've been one of those interim rulers if not for that one Autumn bitch."
At this point, the Changeling heaved a frustrated sigh, taking another sip of his rum as his grip on his glass tightened unconsciously.
Oh, still hate that bitch.
"Yeah, see, there was this one Autumn Queen who tried to take advantage of the faction-based separation in my freehold to try to stir the pot, potentially bloodily. Fortunately, I managed to get everyone calmed down, with a lot of help. It was a close thing, though, and the Bitch and I had a nice long talk over it."
The Changeling sighed, the tension draining from him slowly as he tried to put the bitch out of his mind.
"But after that little mess was over and done with, nothing much really happened," Emile continued, "Eventually I stepped down and acted as an adviser for the next Vernal Sovereign, and then I ended up here. Thus, the man sitting before you now. Emile Blaskowicz, Former Vernal Sovereign of the Amber Revelry and MD in the field of Pharmacology."
