The demon's eyes widened and he immediately spun to the side, avoiding the hug. That was close, an outsider would have seen such a swift movement as a reflex. Kenzo knew it was not the case.
It weren't his honed battle instincts that had saved him from that man, nor his heightened reflexes for the matter.
No, it was just luck, luck that he had managed to notice that faint high pitched sound. Had it been just a tad bit higher pitched, he wouldn't have noticed in the first place. Had it been just a tad bit fainter, he wouldn't have been able to react as quickly, he would've been caught for sure.
"Hey, what the hell?" He blurted out, his prior friendly demeanour now oppressive and hostile. It wasn't anything like the calm aloof attitude he bore earlier. No, his stance was one of a killer, his eyes focused on both the man and-

That thing, it couldn't be. He truly hoped it wasn't what he felt it was, and yet he could instantly recognize it. He could hear her, shrilling screams ringing in his ears as soon as he glanced at her. Could it be, could that thing really be what he feared it was?
Kenzo glared at the masked man, silently moving his hand closer to his sword.
