Shirou

The redhead tilted his head thoughtfully and suggested, "Maybe something Western, so you have a chance."

He grinned at Sakura as he tied his own apron.  Honestly, it had been a while since he had cooked a good meal, and he missed doing so with Sakura.   He was actually looking forward to go into the kitchen with her.

Shirou

Shirou frowned as he heard Rin's response to Rider's question.

"What else did you expect me to do in a kitchen, Rin?" Shirou asked, whilst considering how best to respond to the comment about scrying.

Hmm, I might have some of her hair on my shirt still, he thought, checking himself over carefully for one of Sakura's distinctive purple hairs.

After a few moments searching, he found one.

"Here you go, Rin", he said, holding it out, before hesitating. "Although, this could be from your Sakura...."

"Well, I have my wedding ring if you'd rather try that", he continued, removing the gold ring from his finger. "Which would you prefer?"

Rider

Rider also frowned at Rin's statement, amazed that she could be so brazen as to act as if sending someone to the kitchen was not an implication that they should cook. Before she could respond, though, she heard Sakura speak through their mental link.

Rider? she said, haltingly, What was-what was he going to cook?

Rider thought for a moment.

Hmm, I recall he was looking for fish. And some of that cooking alcohol that Sakura is always telling me I can't drink, Rider thought, not yet responding to Sakura.

Rider wasn't sure what Shirou was doing. That wasn't Sakura's favourite dish, although she was still fond of it.

Hang on, but it was her favourite, when she was younger, she thought, still to herself.

Rider suddenly realised what Shirou had been doing. Not only had he decided to cook Sakura's favourite dish, but he had had enough sense to realise that what he needed to make was the dish the younger version of her most liked. And, he'd remembered what it was.

Rider smiled at the realisation. Of course, Sakura's importance to Shirou was not exactly new information, but nevertheless it was always nice to be reminded from time to time just how much he really cared.

I think he was trying to make Teriyaki Fish. As I recall, that is your favourite dish, at your age at least, she responded over her mental link.

LANCELOT

The dark knight came to a stop when the beam of his flashlight lit up where the monster’s tracks disappeared to: a circular opening that seemed to be a pipe. At first Lancelot wasn’t sure if the creature could actually fit in such a small space, but the sound of scraping claws was proof enough. He swung the beam of his flashlight around in a quick 360 to make sure nothing else was lurking nearby, then turned to Saber.

“You may be able to fit.”

ANATU

Just came to a sudden halt next to what appeared to be a gate of some kind, manned by several of the people Anatu recognized as servants of her protector. He set her down and spoke to her a bit, and she managed to make out a few of the words. Something about requesting his aid? He walked away to talk with one of the other men, so she assumed it to be a dismissal.

Night had fallen, the final rays of sunlight blotching some of the clouds dark purple, but she still wasn’t very tired. Confused as to why Just had brought her here instead of the building she had stayed in previously, but unwilling to bother him by asking, she began to wander around away from the gate, intending to search for answers herself.

KOTOMINE KIREI

“Um… why do you like him so much?”

The priest glanced at the man sitting next to him with a wry grin. “It’s only natural. We both understand what it means to have nowhere we belong.” The other man turned away, apparently unsatisfied with the answer but unwilling to question it.

The school bus the pair were riding in rocked back and forth as they hit a poorly maintained stretch of asphalt. The six other men and women that were also in the vehicle with them had to lean and hold onto the seats in front of them to keep their balance, holding tightly onto their weapons as best they could so as to not drop them.

It was dark, Nexus city’s multitude of lights were few and far between here. The narrow streets were devoid of cars, few were brave or foolish enough to venture out during the night. They were not afraid. The new, dangerous life they had here was one they thrived in.

“We’re here,” the driver said right before pulling into a particularly dim alley. Kotomine got up as the bus came to a stop and started walking to the doors, but stopped right before the stairs. With both hands clasped behind his back, the man in robes turned his head to those behind him.

“I trust I need not remind you of the consequences should you fail,” he said, nodding at the response of shaking heads and a couple audible no’s. “Then we shall proceed in the name of ‘god’.” With that he got out of the vehicle and strolled down the darkened streets.

A few brief minutes later he met up with another group, much different than those who had been on the bus. Black leather. Deep orange cloth. Cartoonish halloween masks. Instead of professional killers, these men held themselves like bloodthirsty thugs. Man, orc, and troll alike, they had the capacity to deface and destroy, and reveled it. What they lacked in discipline, they made up for in eagerness.

Fifty men strong, the gang had assembled in force. The Halloweeners were going to have a wild party tonight.

Private Jenkins held tightly on to his M16A1 rifle as he guarded his post, the blast furnace towering behind him. The weapon was archaic, primitive, as was the blue-grey patterned armor he wore. He felt vulnerable protection his old kinetic barrier - equipped armor provided, but that had been destroyed when he arrived here. His eyes scanned the shadowy buildings across the open field, illuminated by two large floodlights, searching vigilantly for any sign of movement.

A roar erupted from nearby, and Jenkins and the three other Enforcers on guard with him swung around, aiming their rifles in the direction of the sound. It was yelling, from what sounded like an entire crowd. Jenkins eyed an unorganized stack of metal pipes, and opened his mouth to speak.

“Sir, should we-” A flash of light, a sharp crack, and Private Jenkins’ lights went out.

It was an inconceivably lucky shot. The Halloweeners burst from the cover of the shadows, running straight into the open, firing with their weapons as they went. Most of the shots failed to hit anything, but one bullet from an AR-12 caught Jenkins right beneath his left eye and managed to pierce the skull and go into his brain. His body fell to the ground with a thud, not having even fired his weapon.

The remaining three Enforcer sprinted for cover, two returning fire while the other grabbed his radio, calling for assistance. A well aimed shot to the center of mass put a goblin flat on her back, only to get back up a moment later, her kevlar having shielded her from the bullet.

Although the Halloweeners were poor marksmen, the Enforcers simply couldn’t compete with their sheer numbers. In the end, Jenkins was fortunate. In less than twenty seconds, the gang of brutes had crossed the distance between them and violently tore the soldiers apart, literally limb from limb in one case, only using a gun to mutilate the body after the troll had finished removing the last leg. With a series of whoops, the brutes continued on their rampage, busting open the fence gate and rushing in to see what there was to pillage.

Behind them, a lone man in priestly robes with a cross around his neck calmly strode forward, a smile on his face.

Emily

It took a fair portion of Emily's self-control to keep her expression neutral at the sight before her. The water mage's emaciated figure, previously hidden by what looked to be body armor, caught the Spring Courtier completely off guard. The feeling that the sight brought on couldn't quite be described as disgust, but it most certainly wasn't pity.

Regardless, this man was going to be part of the team. This man would be fighting alongside Mordred and it wouldn't do for him to be in such terrible shape. All his talent in water magic would be meaningless if one good hit would put him down.

No, that's Mordred's job. She's going to be keeping him from having to take a hit in the first place...

With that in mind, Emily decided to withhold her offer to heal the man's arm. If Mordred was going to be the one keeping Forest at bay, she'd need any help her fellow Changeling could afford her.

Relius Clover

Ignis covered the attack to Relius’s blind spot by teleporting in front of him, turning her arm into a blade and parrying the blow.  Rather than moving to a different position in to attack him from a different angle, the swordsman's stanced changed, as if getting ready for a massive strike.  With blinding speed the man unleashed a flurry of slashes to Ignis.  Using her and Relius’s combined analytical abilities she was able to block the first few blows.  However, it didn’t take more than a second to be overwhelmed by his speed.

She stretched her legs out, trusting them into the ground in order to maintain her position.  While he slashed her body, she clasped her hands together and shaped them into a massive drill.   She stretched her arm out, moving the now rapidly spinning drill towards the man.

Relius did his best to support Ignis by tracking the dog’s movements.  It was obvious that the man was going for a more direct approach.  As soon as the man stepped in front of Ignis, Relius attempted to use his Ars to float quickly towards the security guard and the train gateway.  Even though he was moving forward, he looked over his shoulder to make sure he was ready.

Sakagami Kenzo

Kenzo wasted no time. As soon as Ignis incrusted herself on the ground and prepared an attack, he  took advantage of the opening, slipped around her and dashed to the puppeteer like crimson lightning. This time, he wouldn't give him even an instant to breathe. With a clear motion, he cleaved the man's left leg.

It's over, bastard.

Now behind him, he landed on a nearby wall and bounced off once more, going for a clean stab trough the chest.

Faust bowed in apology, taking care to maintain his eye contact even as his survival instincts screamed at him to flee. "I am very sorry, great king, but I only arrived after the cataclysmic event. You see, I had come to pick up this young man here, and found this on the way." His voice was filled with regret and sorrow, as if he truly cared about his ignorance.

Faust bowed once more before continuing. "However, I may be able to take you to someone who may have witnesses the events that transpired." Faust began to explain. "That gargantuan behemoth of magical energy has been here for quite a long time, and hasn't moved an inch since I arrived either. I think whomever possesses it has seen everything, and may have the answers you desire."

Suiren

The first thing she was expecting to see her room, to see the well-made, clean ceiling, to smell the smell of the nature that she filled her house with, to hear the flowing water of the stream, and the chirping of the birds.

Instead she was met with the sight of an odd, dilapidated ceiling, and the smell of dust, age, wet wood, and blood. Groaning she raised her self to a sitting position, and brought her hand to her head, rubbing her temples groggily.

Then she opened her eyes and looked at that hand, as she lowered it from her face. A frown covered her face as she looked at her hand and clenched her hand into a palm.

“That’s right.” She mumbled with an annoyed tone but oddly it did not seemed to be directed at herself, but at someone else, “I lost.”

Vanguard

So long. He had waited so long. He had grown tired of waiting, unable to move or speak or see anything around him. It was annoying, this whole mansion was annoying. He wanted to move, so desperately.

To pick up the book next to him, to look around, to speak, to experience something other than this dull nothing. He waited an hour, two hours, a day, a week, ten years. He waited so, so long. He spent more time waiting than most people could spend living combined. He wanted to get up, to open his eyes. To relieve this dull boredom of his.

He wanted to get up.

He wanted.

Because waiting is so lonesome.

Before long, scratching sounds came from the helmet, rattling screeches as if wild rats were eating and clawing at the metal from the inside. Then, the air began to feel heavy.

It wasn't that he was going mad, far from it. But if boredom could kill, one could say Vanguard was being bored to death. So he decided to sing a little song. But all that came from his helmet was static.

Then he realized, his core still wasn't completely stable. Far from it, it was crumbling again.

And his helmet was beginning to form cracks as well, slowly but surely shattering. There wasn't much he could do, there wasn't anything he could do. And the static grew louder and louder.

And then, a crash. The air was beginning to dry immensely, growing colder and colder by the second. The few demons who were swarming nearby were unlucky enough to be hit by the aftershock immediately stopped moving.

It was as if they were being slowly eaten, slowly being broken down into energy that collected as golden light around Vanguard. Insects, daemons, critters... they all crumbled into nothing. The plants slowly but surely withered away, leaving behind golden orbs that moved towards the helmet. Yes, slowly but surely Vanguard was beginning to recover.

Saber

Pandemonium raged around the blond knight as the creatures literally poured out everywhere.  In the corner of her eye she saw Noel get Henry to safety, so it was up to Lancelot and herself to turn the tide of battle.   Using Excalibur here would be akin to suicide, she thought, also knowing it would take time to charge.  Time that she would be defenseless as she brought the holy sword at the ready.

However she had a feeling that the creature that they had tracked was somehow responsible for this onslaught.  Lancelot looked around and said, “You may be able to fit.”

She nodded and nimbly climbed into the portal and said, "Watch my back, old friend."  Then she began to shimmy her way into the tunnel.

Rin

"What else did you expect me to do in a kitchen, Rin?" Shirou asked as he kept looking for something to use.

She shrugged and said, "Sit quietly and drink tea."

"Here you go, Rin", Shirou said, holding a long violet strand of hair, before hesitating. "Although, this could be from your Sakura...."

"Well, I have my wedding ring if you'd rather try that", he continued, removing the gold ring from his finger. "Which would you prefer?"

"I can use both actually," Rin said, taking the items and deftly tying the hair around the gold band.  As she worked, she said, "She's not my Sakura.  She's a version of my sister, but she's not my actual sister."

Nodding to herself she said, "This would work better if I had a map of Nexus . . ."

Sakura Matou

“I’ll make you regret that handicap, Senpai! I’m confident in my cooking skills. I’m not going to lose this time!” She boasted proudly. She was certain she would finally triumph against him. After all, she’d been practicing. This was a matter of the utmost importance, after all! Sakura put on her apron and began taking things out of the cabinets.

Then, she remembered something she had forgotten long ago. “Oh.” She quietly said. “Hold on, I need to get something real quickly. She ignored the small demons dying as she walked to retrive Vanguard.

“Here you are!” She told him happily. “You’ve gotten smaller-oomph.” She grunted as she lifted his head. “Let’s go. you can be the judge!!” She giggled “It must have been boring, right?” She chatted at him as she walked back to the kitchen.

Vanguard

Vanguard quickly slipped back into consciousness. Without realizing it, he had collected all the nearby tribute to be found. Even so, this was enough. Feeling himself being picked up by something, he forced himself into awareness and realized it was his master. She seemed to be in a jolly mood, not at all unpleasant.

"Oh, absolutely. I felt like I would slumber any moment. Well, slumbering is a bit difficult for me nowadays, but enough about that."

The helmet giggled in turn.

"You seem to be quite glad, master. I can't help but feel you are being quite cheeky, taking advantage of my disposition so shamelessly. Is that how you treat all of your helmets?"

Ghost Child

The spirit paused his mental fiddling for a moment. Looking through memories was hard with so many stupidheads inside Fatty. For a moment the distracting colors shifted back to their normal, dull tones before resuming their vibrant hues. "Be quiet, Fatty!"

Ghost Child decided on another distraction. Something dropped from the ceiling just a few feet in front of them and a wet, meaty thunk resounded throughout the abandoned factory. It's fall painted the ground a deep scarlet that constrated heavily with the bright shades around it.

The body that had fallen was a child. It was almost something out of a nightmare. He was five years old at most and shared an eerie resemblance with the teen the spirit was possessing. The only meaningful difference was the incredible paleness from the lack of blood.

His eyes were missing just like Ghost Child. Eyelids had been sliced off with the finesse of a surgeon but that only added to the horror of the empty sockets. Tiny hands held beslimed organs that had spilled out of massive cuts in a futile attempt to keep everything on the inside. The nails had been ripped from his fingers and metal spikes had been hammered through the nail beds.

His mouth had been stiched closed but the sheer sloppiness in the sutures showed that it was more for amusement than keeping the boy silent.

Unnatural lumps covered his arms and legs. Some were the size of a man's fist and weeped pus and blood into the puddle of fluid the corpse laid in. The sight alone was enough to make one ill and the smell of the body along with the sound of some especially large lumps bursting added to the sickening nature of it all.

In the meantime the spirit resumed its covert attempt at examining the dummy's memories. His head was really fat on the inside but Ghost Child could do it! He just had to be sneaky and quiet. Just keeping himself busy with the one mind while keeping away from the other ones. They were weird. Bad touch.

Sakura Matou

Sakura giggled back as she trudged down the hall carefully with the incredibly heavy helmet. “No, only the heavy ones. And I am in a good mood! I got Senpai and Nee-San back. after all. I had a wonderful conversation with her, and I’m about to cook a meal with Senpai! It’s the best day ever!” She told him as she walked into the kitchen.

As she walked in, she placed Vanguard carefully on the table, facking Sakura and Shirou. “I thought Vanguard would be lonely just laying in the living room alone, so I brought him here.” She explained to Shirou. “Now!” Her tone changed completely. No longer was she giddily giggling everything, she was now extremely competitive, and no nonsense was broached in her tone. “Have you decided what we shall be cooking tonight!?” She asked him.
