Cross Effects 3.0 - June 23, 2016—April 02, 2018

[Elf]

Rin

Rin blushed at Sakura's words as she sort of hovered by Rin's ear with her shadows.  Rin only nodded, not wanting to say anything else with Joe there.

You're just happy your spinster elder sister brought someone home and he's not a vampire.  And nice and somewhat decent looking, Rin thought.

Once Sakura left, Rin grinned and said, "So how much did the shadows creep you out?"


Forest

"So my employment isn't enough?" Forest asked with narrowed eyes and a bit of a smirk at Marcus.  She made a little huffing sound and said, "You're already planning to leave, aren't you?"

Then she grinned and winked at him, even though that fear was very real.

She then looked around at the stores and her eyes caught on one.  The fashions there seemed to cater to a more sophisticated Goth crowd than Hot Topics did, which also meant she could find something.  She looked Marcus over and said, "There!" 

Then she pulled him gently by the arm inside.

Anastasia

"Eh, I got used to it. I pick up knowledge quickly, and we had guns and even steam engines, so not completely foreign for me to see people carrying around sidearms. And one of southern craftsmen even invented tanks. Slow, unwieldy, but it's convenient to have a cannon that can move itself." Anastasia explained how developed her world was in relation to the city. "While we do have magic  it's not something readily available to the public, so there is a drive to innovate. Plus the ever shifting landscape is not really confusing to me. The city where majority of human wizardly schools are located shifts its layout randomly from time to time from the sheer amount of magic flowing through leylines."

Jasey

She scratched her head. Then she shrugged. "If you're fast enough that I can't stop you then there's no point in fighting. And I really don't like dying. It's a real pain in the ass. So can you not? I'd be fine going off and killing other stuff though. That's good."


Paladin

"It would be a shame on anyone of my order if they could not do such a thing. If one cannot protect themselves then they can protect no one. A weak body is a flimsy shield." He gave a definitive nod at that before addressing Oka next.

"In some ways yes. In others no. This land lacks the capacity for large scale teleportation, its city lacks the levels of self organization that the Northern Cities do, and there are a few other things. But there are certainly things that are new to me."


Oren

"Yep, yep!" She said to the mage person. "I can become anything in the world! So long as it's dead. One of my cousins even became a small god! She was pretty cool. I was actually thinking of getting another skin soon. I heard a forest dragon was around here...." Oren was talking as if she was a girl shopping for clothes more than anything else.

Oka Kurosawa

"I know right?!" Oka exclaimed excitedly. "Not having any casual form of teleportation is just weird. You'd think they'd have figured it out by now." The purplehead sighed and then shook her head. "And it's such a mishmash of crap. The layout is from hell unless you have a way to see it from above."

Suddenly, the rock that Anastasia had just stepped on burst upwards, knocking her away as it roared in annoyance. The large stone snake suddenly moved forward, attempting to crush them.

"Whoa an onix! You don't see those every day!" Oka said as she dodged aside. She wanted to see how her two friend would do. It wouldn't be good if she had to protect them the entire time. Well, she could probably do that but it'd be less fun that way, to be honest.

Jeanne

She suddenly found herself pulled off the ground, feets dangling helplessly as she was then hoisted over his shoulder. Deciding not to try and break free since she knew of his great strength, the blonde girl relaxed but not without letting her dissent be heard.

"Are you really going to be carrying me in like this? It might look like you're planning to bed me." She replied back calmly. Just then, her master appeared from under the shadow of a nearby tree, wondering how it went.

"He's a terrifying opponent." She replied.

Joe

Joe's face scrunched up into a horrified frown, his mouth agape as he watched Rin's pregant sister walk through some terrifying darkness portal.  She has got to be evil.  No question.

The second she left, Joe let out a gasp, as if he was holding his breath the entire time.  He ran over to Rin and said,  "Holy crap!  You ever see those shows where the little girl is acting all bubbly but she's actually got some kind of satanic weapon or superpower?  It was like that except she's waving her powers in my face while trying to sell me a house!"

All of the sudden, he wrapped his arms around her, letting his body weight collapse a bit as he held her in an embrace.  He needed a hug.  "Well, at least she seemed to like me," he said, pulling away so he could see her face when she responded.  "That's good right?"

Vanguard

"Is that a complaint?" He asked her with a calm smile. What a scandalous presumption, though he neither denied nor affirmed her foolish suspicions.

Sakura soon emerged from a nearby shade. To say he was surprised would be a gross overstatement, but he was pleased to see such a skillful display of magic.

"And she is a formidable knight, I dare say the best I have ever seen."  He said, his smile turning into a stern and serious expression. "Though the truly terrifying one would be the lady beneath my eyes."

Sakura Matou

Sakura waved her hand dismissively at Vanguard, shaking her head at him. "Please, stop trying to flatter me so shamelessly." She repremanded him, walking over behind him to look Jeanne in the face. "So who won and who lost?" She asked curiously. "It looks like it was my cute servant Jeanne here, but her losing so fast doesn't seem very plausible, even against you. Soooo...?"

[Kat]

Anastasia

A "switch" in her mind "flipped", in response to the mind physical trauma. Anastasia was pretty laid back on surface, but when faced with what could be considered a threat, she behaved efficiently thanks to years of indoctrination and mental and physical training. Even before she landed on the ground she already started forming a barrier of solid ice into which Onyx was about to slam. Leylines were good here and the weather made drawing mana from them more efficient. This action would buy seconds vital for her full recovery.

Rikuyo

"Your point? You stopped fighting her. Sharing is caring." Wow, she seemed to be even more selfish than her. The generous god she was already was willing to let her fight first whoever they ran into this night. But denying her the right for a bout with someone not that far apart from her weight class? Not cool. "Or you wanna fight me? That's the spirit!"

Rikuyo depowered to her human form, supressed her aura and kicked up a knife of one of the victims into the air, grabbing it swiftly. "You're not a stranger, so I'll feel generous and level the playing field. Meanwhile, go nuts, Jasey! Screams won't bother me at all."

Shinobu

Medaka helped Noel to get off of her, the blonde vampire jumped to her feet and gave Medaka a hug. She noticed the pang of jealousy coming from her dear minion. She tried to mask with that smile of hers, but it couldn't escape her attention. "I see you're as helpful as usual. So what were you saying about my body before I got sent away?" She asked her with rapt interest.

Noel Vermillion

Noel stood still, and fidgeted uncomfortably while remaining silent.

The speck of dirt flew through the air before striking true, ditying the mage's robes. A long pause ensued as the dark mage stared blankly at the goddess. After what felt like an eternity the silence was finally broken by his voice.

"Congratulations you've managed to make my robes dirty, are you proud?" The sarcasm cut like a dull blade. He put a hand ontop of her head and leaned down so he was face to face. "Ok Noire now look at me and say, I like you." Oh this would be really fun she'd either turn into a mess or perhaps she might transform again from the stress. Knowing the mechanics behind her powers would only help in the future.

Noire

Noire let out a soft chuckle at his reaction while he stared at her. "Hey, a hit is a hit right? it's part of being resourceful." When he told her to tell him he liked her however, she just couldn't blurt out her true feelings outright. "Well, um..." She said, looking away from him and fidgeting awkwardly with her hands. "I guess, I do like you. You're my friend after all, right? It's only natural!"

Jeanne

"My master isn't terrifying at all, that's some horrible rumors you're trying to spread Lord Vanguard." She rejected his comment about her master. Her master in question just had to come around though and have a closer look, couldn't she read the mood? Jeanne sighed, knowing that an explanation was inevitable.

"Judging by how he's carrying me around like a sack, it would appear he's the victor." She answered sounding utterly resigned in the face of her currrent predicament.

Vanguard

"Not at all. You have amassed a considerable strength in a few months worth, the power to have powerful warriors point their blades at your enemies. Compared to such a thing, even my own skill is trifling." He said earnestly.

But just what was that knight thinking, saying such nonsense? If this was some ploy to make him feel indebted, she should know better. But very well, he could play along.

Vanguard smiled smugly. "Indeed, though she fought impressively. Her honor and valor were only matched by her blade. Though if she fought a bit more seriously, she could have had a chance." He said assuredly, not holding a trace of deceit or trickery in his words.

William

Her denial was quite cute to watch, but it was beginning to get a bit tiresome. It was time to step up the game. The mage wrapped his other arm around her slim waist, enjoying the feel of her soft back against his hand as he pulled her into a tight embrace. "Oh really because I like you a whole lot." He leaned in even closer until their lips met.
