After recovery

It remained an enigma who picked up the mage's battered body and put it into hospital, so Anastasia had lots of questions unanswered. The staff of the hospital didn't know of her 'benefactor's identity, and she didn't exactly entertain idea of hiring a private investigator. It was her private war where bystanders with no powers shouldn't be involved. She was already outclassed as she was.

She didn't know how to feel about this loss. One hand she just followed orders. But she was technically her Servant's Master, and the roles maybe shouldn't have been reversed. Would any strategy she came up with be superior to that of an older leader? She wasn't so sure. Anyway, at least she wanted to see this through. The threat to the city was obvious even if the world did not seem to be ending.

Absorbed in her thoughts, with blank eyes reflecting no emotion, she just walked and walked without direction like going through motions, just paying mind enough to not bump into anyone in the crowd. Ah, yes, wasn't she supposed to go back to the work tomorrow? That'd put her plans into conflict with her prior obligations. I guess she would have to go back.

The tall girl just sat on a bench after she started getting tired. How far distance she had walked? She was after all not someone to get tired easy. Or the whole stress of mulling over all her options made her tire out. "Damn, I not only lost, but I'm at loss what I should do. Truly I'm merely a 'soldier'."

She definitely wasn't a warrior. Warriors fought out of passion, soldiers just followed their orders and duties. Would she be at peace if wars ended or completely at loss if there was no conflict? She sort of felt not sure what do about her life already.

She laughed at that. Almost. "Don't tell me that you're one of the guys who thinks that being strong or weird means you aren't human." Rebecca tapped her head.

"Power doesn't mean anything. All that matters is thought. If the logic is the same then they're human. If you act like a human and think like a human then you're just a human. No matter how strong you are. Once you become something totally alien in mind you can start prancing about as something inhumane."

"Just don't have the mindset?" she parroted, her voice lost in the ensuing sandstorm that marked Set's departure.  She was probably refering to her current level of extremism.  She wasn't willing to kill for her ideals, but Set did have a point.  If the young vampire wanted to prevent more loss and make everyone else happy, she should get more greedy.  After all, her idea of selfishness is selfless.  She only wants the best for those around her, even if they don't know it yet.

The young vampire walked aimlessly through the streets, her eye's blank and her steps slow.  The war god form was the fastest way to get stronger, but she had never considered learning magic.  With all the different mages she had met here, finding a teacher should be simple.  However, there was no guarantee that there wouldn't be a cost, nothing was.  Even so, she would happily pay almost any price.  All that mattered was that she is able to beat that man without losing anyone else.

Just as she was passing a bench, she saw a particular sight, a girl staring blankly in the corner of her eye.  The blue haired girl stopped walking, turned to the girl and said, "I see you look just as lost as I do, perhaps more.  Is there something wrong?"

She was too focused in her thoughts to immediately notice the blue haired girl. As if brought from a trance, the blue haired girl's question ripped Anastasia back to the reality, but she didn't catch completely what she said. Something about being wrong. Yes, there was lots of things going awry and not according to any plans.

"If you're a normal bystander, I'd rather you tended to your own affairs." She tried to dismiss her. So many uninvolved people wanted to offer a help, but their help wasn't worth potential casualties. So she would be gruff to do the girl a favor, whether she liked it or not.

"I wouldn't say i'm too ordinary," she said, flashing her fangs.  "Besides, i'd rather not have your sad face burned into my mind."

A flash of fangs. They didn't look natural unless they were some reason fake. But she grasped at straws when looking for any reason why she would do it. So she just gave up and assumed they weren't fake. "Not too ordinary, you say? I don't think I know what kind of supernatural being you are."

Her reaction would depend on her response. She wasn't clearly any corrupted creature, but the mage also didn't exactly know who the girl was. So it was still up in the air.

Blackmore

"No, it was just a figure of speech. Like saying someone beyond mundane human levels of strength is inhuman. Would normal have worked better?" He rubbed the back of his head and stopped smiling, as if kinda embarassed by the misunderstanding.

Ohhhhhhhhh. "Yeah, that'd work a lot better. Makes sense too. In our own ways we're pretty far above what the average person could do I'd think. Most people involved in this tournament are. But I guess the point is to find the strongest ones of them all, huh?"

"Idiot." He flicked her forehead and sent her back with colossal strength like the puny little human she was. "You got it all wrong sweetie. The tournament is just a formality. AN inauguration, if you will. This is first and foremost a show, keeping our lovely audience entertained comes first and foremost." His grin returned as he uttered these words with absolute conviction.

"Well, that too. I guess you weren't 100% wrong after all, eh?" He added, for as it turned out it was just an excuse to flick her in the first place. That felt good.

Medaka tilted her head and smiled.  "Yes, I am a vampire," she stated plainly.  She didn't care much about what she was, nor any stigma attached to being a vampire.  So, she sat down next to the girl on the bench.  "Now enough about me, tell me how to help."

"Huh, a vampire? For all the incessant talk about your kind I though you'd be more common. I see you can walk in the daylight. What's next, the blood drinking is also a myth?" Anastasia recounted all the stories she was fed with near eidetic memory. "Ahh, forget about the help for now. I wanted to look up stories about vampires before I got dragged into the mess I'm now in right, I might as well take care of the first thing."

A sort of provisional escape mechanism to recompose herself and think about the nigh impossible challenge ahead of the mage later. And to gauge with whom she was talking after all.

Ryu, Parker and Jones

As the earth shook to signal the approach of the mysterious interlopers, Ryu turned his head and sank down into a battle stance.  "The heroes are coming," he said, leaning onto his back leg and cupping his hands.  The orange aura that normally surrounded his body during battle gathered in his hand, creating a sphere of energy.  That energy grew bigger and bigger until it was the size of a watermelon.

Then, it happened.  Two elephants broke through the gate, sending cars everywhere.  One flew towards Parker, but he swiftly dodged, leaping over the incoming car.  Meanwhile, the elephants locked onto their target, the cosplayer charging his attack in the middle of the street.  Someone leaped off the top and spawned a giant fire rhino, a familiar looking skeleton pirate.  Just like that, Ryu was staring down a full frontal invasion, with nothing but his courage and a crapton of ki.

"FALL TO MY POWER HEROES!  FALL BEFORE THE GREATEST VILLAIN RYU!" he screamed, thrusting his arms forward and releasing a massive blast.  The resulting beam was large enough to engulf the elephant, and indeed was moving toward the one handled by the knight.  In the meantime, Parker sprung into action, using the fallen car as a platform to propel himself towards the other elephant.  As he grew closer, his arms morphed into long tedrils.  He attempted to wrap them around the other girl's elephant, tripping the creature.

A single voice echoed through the sky, filtered by the musky quality of a speaker.  "Lorenzo, do not touch Ryu!" the voice ordered from atop one of the store's high story roof.  If the two turn their attention to the voice, they would see a lone cyborg man perched on the edge of the building.

Jeanne Alter

"~Hahahahahahaha~ Adorable! Try this on for size! " Jeanne wave her arm at the beam, and a large blast of dark fire burst forth out to combat the beam.

Her fire slammed into the beam with the full intensity of her rage, quickly forcing it to a stalemate. The inferno burned brightly, while his beam pitifully attempted to force it back, and failed. "Weak! Is this the best you can do!? Surely not, nobody could be this foolish!" The girl cackled at him, mocking him incessantly. Just before the fire reached Ryu, a dozen flaming states burst forth from mere inches away at blinding speed, impaling him at twelve different points almost instantly.

What a bully. This was one annoying guy. Rebecca rubbed at her forehead with a frown on her face. "Sure, sure. Manhandle your partners. It's not like you want to gain their relative trust or loyalty."

Thugkura

Who the fuck was this? She saw the guy going for her elephant and responded decisively. Sakura tossed her bag and bat, leaped off, and with both hands lifted and tossed her elephant at the guy in the air. Fuck that guy.

"Pft. Don't need that. The sweet feeling of green paper is all I need to sleep soundly at night. Fear is much better anyways!" He posed and flexed his massive arm as if to prove a point. "C'mon, I'm not some insane cartoon villain. I didn't mean to take it too far, if it makes ya feel any better."

And with that, he handed her a big fatty piece of fresh raw tuna, large enough to fit her entire mouth. "We cool?"

Rebecca held out a flat hand. "Nope. You're gonna need more than fish to earn forgiveness. Like helping me get to a position where I can supervise the contracts for the fighters. Setting up something widescale like that would be real interesting."
