Sage

It looked different now. The lights of the city were pretty and the spires of stone and glass impressive, but they hid awful things like Shinobu. They were full of lies and betrayal. Sage was just about done with that - how much of what Shinobu said could she trust? Had she been lying about being a ruler, or was this her wretched territory? Could she trust anyone to tell her otherwise?

It made her want to go home.

Then someone was brave enough to walk up to her, and this time Sage loomed over her stripped of all lies with her wings spread. Her voice escaped from her long neck in a groan like the curling of a tree. "Are you here to make it more?"

Lily

Lily closed her eyes and smiled softly. I certainly hope not. I just want to talk, is all. Lily opened her eyes, walked closer to Sage and sat down on the roof. Then she looked up at Sage's face again. Friends are far better to make than enemies, don't you think? Though I guess not everyone feels the same way, given what just happened.

Sage

"... are you reading my mind, human?" Acidic air puffed out from her nostrils going up, not quite at the person saying things she shouldn't know. If she was doing that without permission though then Sage was going to feel quite nettled.

Lily

Lily blinked. No, why? Lily then looked off to the side, then back at Sage. If it's about what happened, I saw it from the street. It just took me a while to catch up to you.

Lorenzo

The pirate put a thoughtful finger on his chin and pondered before shrugging in an aloof fashion, slouching back once more.

"Beats me. I'll figure it out once i get there." He told her casually, and there really was not much more to it. Besides, he was too much of a straight shooter not to answer her question himself. "It's just in my nature to take what I want, and it just happens I want this place. Overthinking this kind of shit only leads you to disappointment. Besides, it might be fun to try to conquer the modern world. No better way to indulge than to do so while standing at the top of the mountain with a fine drink and a finer lady."

He smiled truthfully, and handed her his hand, intent to shake it warmly as an old friend.

"I won't force you, but I don't see a finer way to celebrate than to look at the horizons below the peak together. You and me, what do ya say?"

Prism

"Hm, my life wasn't really special. In my home we have these huge tunnels that gems emerge from. We're half formed then, so we need someone else to chisel out features and give us some direction. From that point on I mostly just did some writing work. Or well, was supposed to anyways." Her smile was remarkably fragile as she reminisced.


Anesa

If Anesa had come to any sort of conclusion about this city, it was that it was almost explosively alive. The knight was rather certain it was the lack of a firm background that did this. Those that were hated and despised were given blank slates, servants had no lords to serve, and kings need not bear the burdens of their crowns in a foreign land.

It was as refreshing as it was chaotic. Still, she strode forwards into the bar with her back straight and eyes focused. She supposed she might look almost comically archaic as she did now, but it was no great concern. Anesa simply took a seat at the bar and ordered a drink.

Emily

Well, this was...either a little unexpected, or quite thoroughly expected. The changeling wasn't quite sure yet which, but she wasn't surprised by the lofty goal. She was a little surprised by how casually she said it, even though she could clearly see an earnest desire behind it kicking away in her brain. Still, helping him acquire this place couldn't hurt, and it had been a while since her last little adventure, not to mention that this seemed like it could be a little fun.

"Mhm, I suppose you make a fair point, Lorenzo," Emily mused, reaching out a hand and shaking hers with a pleased little smile, "That would be a fine way to celebrate indeed."

With that, she noted that her glass was empty and got up to fill it up again. Once she got to the minibar up in the lounge, however, a glance down below caught sight of the newcomer, looking almost comically straight-laced in a place like this.

"But perhaps it would be finer still to have some more company while we're at it, no?" Emily noted, shooting Lorenzo a small grin while indicating the bar the girl was seated at below, "Perhaps we have another joining us?"

Lorenzo

"Ha! I like the way you're thinking." In contrast to her cooing, dignified grin, his was the jovial smile of a fox or a wolf.  He waved his hand casually in approval and got up with a hand on his hip. "I like that one. She feels different from the usual lass you find in a tavern. A winter flower in a desert eh?"

It wasn't sure what he meant by that. What was sure however was how fiercely he slapped her back, jovially humoring her with the widest of grins.

"Sure, why not! Besides, I can't see how anyone is supposed to enjoy themselves in a cramped box like this. Even the drunkards at least know where the fun's at." He chuckled before dragging her along downstairs, taking the same confident stride he took earlier before stepping up to the blonde lady, arm in arm with his new comrade. Still, it didn't stop him from grinning at the newcomer friendly.

"Heyo! What's a diamond doing shining here all by herself? Mind if we sit here next to ya? Drink tasted better with good company, or so I was told..." He greeted her jovially before bowing politely, oblivious to the way her scandalous cape revealed so much of her body.

Anesa

"Oh, a diamond?" Anesa's eyes focused on the newcomers, but her expression was at least amiable. If the way the other girl exposed herself bothered the knight it did not make itself abundantly clear. "I am not so sure of that, but your other point is correct. It would be rather loathsome to decline company offered so freely, so please sit. I am Anesa."

She took a sip of her drink, a slight electric tang to it.

Emily

Emily smirked as Lorenzo introduced herself, using that time to move into the seat next to the newcomer and catch the bartender's eye, a bit more glamour going into a unspoken little twist to ensure he got around to serving them as soon as he could manage. Still, this new girl seemed like she could be fun once they got past the outer shell.

"Hmm, I wouldn't be so sure of that either," Emily said bemusedly, giving Anesa a warm smile, "Diamonds aren't actually as rare as people might think. And with those eyes, perhaps an emerald would be a better fit? But I digress, I'm Emily. Pleasure to meet you."

Lorenzo

"Call me Lorenzo, son of Remei and captain of the Fiery Moon. It's not every day that I get to meet a knight, I'm honored." There was nothing but genuine admiration in his words as he sat down in turn. Soon enough, a jug of ale slipped its way up to him, which he found very appreciated. He took a generous swing down before grinning widely. "Ahhh, that's the stuff." He sounded completely content as he raised a toast to the newcomer. "So how are you doing on this fine night Anesa?"

Anesa

These compliments, she was not in a position of authority as far as she could tell. The callings of knighthood seemed far less notable here then in her home. If she didn't hold any notable power then the attention and words lavished on her had to be for some other purpose... "It is an honor to meet you Emily," she turned her head to look at the more scantily clad one, "and you as well Lorenzo."

"This night has proven itself rather fortuitous. Aside from a few beasts it has been rather peaceful, and I am quite thankful for that. It is why I ceased patrolling and came here, to rest for a time and acquire more information. May I ask why you two are here?"

Emily

The redhead's smile widened at that, periwinkle eyes sparkling with just a bit of amusement at the girl's straightforward response. It was quite refreshing to find so many such people in such a short time. That said, she had to hold back a visible reaction at Lorenzo's introduction, and the revelation that she was actually a he. Odd, she couldn't remember anyone in the recent logs mentioning anyone by the name of Lorenzo. Perhaps an assumed name? Her new partner was getting more interesting by the minute.

Of course, the bartender was already here, sliding Lorenzo another mug of ale, Emily's request for some rum was soon answered with a bottle and a pair of glasses, the redhead taking a moment to fill one up before setting the bottle down.

"For similar reasons to yours, on my part," the redhead admitted, "A visit to a place like this is a nice way to finish off a day of work."

Lorenzo

"Hihihi! Well, let's just say something good happened lately, so I decided to celebrate." He responded in very good humor. In the end, all three were similar in their love of the drink at the very least.

He turned to the blonde lass and smiled at her earnestly, twirling the remainder of the drink in her jug.

"I've clashed blades against knights at times. They were by far the fiercest and most earnest opponents I've had the pleasure of knowing. When you've been in the battlefield for as long as I did, you learn to recognize people's eyes. Yours look kind. Don't take this as empty flattery, I am many things but a swindler of women's hearts is not one of them. It's nice to meet someone like you, I really mean it."

The pirate blinked, perhaps just as surprised to hear himself say that as others around him. He shook his head slightly and massaged it before returning a lighter smile.

"Oh man, I'm getting ahead of myself. Ignore my ramblings, I've never been good at stopping the alcohol from doing the talking."

Anesa

"Ah, kind?" The blonde didn't smile at that, her face carefully neutral as she took another sip from her drink. It was strangely bitter all of a sudden. Or perhaps it was just her. "That is not an emotion that I would usually associate with myself. Or even those who share the same profession. But I've learned to keep an open mind in this regard at least."
