The vampire's eyes suddenly flared when she felt the sudden static in her head, as irritating as worms digging through her brains. A man did that once to her, and then he'd pour molten metal in her eyeballs, drill through her bone marrow, sever her nerves, knot her blood vessels, prod her muscle tissue, twist the tooth canals, mix different chemicals in the stomach, drown, inject acid through the bloodstream...

Trying to tamper with a mind this violated might have been a good idea, but it was a dangerous game, like walking with a candle in a room filled with gunpowder. It wasn't that Forest's skills were inadequate, on the contrary. It was just that fighting brute force with brute force tends to cause some reactions to occur, especially when the victim is aware of her own mind being tampered with.
Besides, as if she'd be able to sleep peacefully. One might as well ask a fish to fly. If this was supposed to be a lullaby, it lacked screams and cries of anguish! This arrogance was enough to have her shoulders tremble with seething rage, and yet all she could do was cackle before she suddenly tried to grab the man by the throat to keep him still and exploded in a streak of crimson.
But somehow, she retained her humanoid shape, all that burst out from her body was her own blood, crystallized like steel and forming branches that would not fail to impale the poor man like a crimson tree decorated in guts and gore in a moment.
"Yes... please go to sleep." She said with the most innocent of smiles, turning to stare right at Forest's indigo eyes with her red predatory hue. There was no mistake, she was furious.
In comparison to her wolfish grins, this one looked far more simple, and far more terrifying. This wasn't something dealing in the realms of mortals or men, but a battle of monsters.
