This weekend at ComicCon, the title for the second Avengers movie was announced and I had a moment of sheer fangirl glee.
Not only will this movie have Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, who was one of my favorite superheros ever despite Bendis fucking her up (fuck you Bendis, fuck you and your talking heads), it'll also have one of my favorite Avengers villains in it as well. While everyone was hoping for a Thanatos movie, that wouldn't work. Avengers 3 being a versus Thanatos movie, yes, but the viewers would have to earn that movie with hints being spread across the other Marvel movies until that point. Because it's Thanatos.
Anyway, more on Ultron because I am a giant nerd.
Back in the day, when Elf was a little girl, she happened upon her father's Avengers comics. I asked if I could read them and he let me. It was the Perez/Busik run from the 90's, and I don't know if it's nostalgia or just because George Perez's artwork is jaw dropping amazing, but it's still some of the best comics I've ever read.
So the first story arc I got into was the Ultron one.
Ultron scared the fuck out of me because A.) he was made of Adamantum, which was what Wolverine's bones were made out of so therefore pretty much indestructible B.) Perez drew him fucking creepy C.) He was basically Hank Pym's personality and D.) Oh yeah, he forced another robot with the Wasp's personality to be at his side at all times. So not only was this robot indestructible and wanted to cull humanity, he was a creeper as well.
Anyway, I was transfixed on this story line, and I would say it was the best of that run in the 90's (even though the entire run was fantastic, if you're a comic fan you should read it).
So, then add to the fact there was the announcement a while back about Wanda and Pietro being in the Avengers, and this last night, I was a very pleased fan.
Plus, OMG Whedon's going to be writing the Scarlet Witch! He's going to fix what Bendis did to fuck her up. (Fuck you Bendis, fuck you.)
Oh, and they showed the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" pilot, and reviews are turning out to be pretty positive.
But there's motherfucking Ultron to be had.
