General Discussion / Re: New Fate/Stay Night Anime Announced!

Zero did have a DVD release though.  It's just rather expensive.

Not to mention you can get legal subtitles from CrunchyRoll free; you just have to watch commercials.  However though, the way of the DVD/Bluray is dying for anime.  Due to anime's ever growing online nature, it's becoming streamed more and more.

Seriously, go to a Best Buy and look at the anime section.  There is only one shelf for it.  However, it is fairly easy, and now legal with the help of sites like CrunchyRoll and Fundimation, to stream subtitled anime for free so the only thing you really have to pay for is internet.

I don't think they can really make it a Zero sequel. UBW doesn't really deal with Ilya, Sakura or Kotomine in any significant manner, which means that a large chunk of the Zero side-plots will be left out (and, as a result, Rin's character development is also incomplete). And, I don't really see how they can add any of those things to UBW without significant changes, which are unlikely given that all three are covered in HF. The HF movie is likely to be far more of a sequel to Zero than the UBW anime.

There are elements that tie in from Zero in UBW.  Mainly Kiritsigu's dream and the continuation of it as seen with the Shirou and Archer paradox.  Not to mention, there have been theories elsewhere, that in UBW they might have Rin being the one who kills Kotomine.  Which would give closure to Rin on that front.

And, whilst UBW Saber is perhaps "closer" to Zero Saber than Fate Saber is, I don't think that's really the point. The point of Saber's development is for her to go from "I'm a total failure of a King who needs to sell myself into eternal slavery at the hands of the world in order to erase myself from existence" like she is in Zero to "actually, yeah, I should just accept what happened and move on", and that development isn't so clear in UBW as it is in Fate.

The development is still pretty clear in UBW.  The problem with Fate is that the "romance" just completely defangs Saber.  In UBW she isn't defanged.  She makes the realization through Shirou and Archer.  She finds a kindred spirit in them and through their answer she finds their own.  Which also ties back to the Saber and Kerry clash in Zero.

Sure, admittedly, HF is more of a "continuation" of Zero (which is probably why they're making the HF movie or movies), but UBW is a continuation for Kerry's ideal.

Character approvals have been updated!

Wynn shrugged and said, "The archangels themselves were manipulative enough in Christian lore.  Forest suggested that I name him something like Corbin, Roderick, Donovan or Duncan.  Names that are heavily used in the Fae courts.  I wanted to go against tradition, much like his conception."

She sighed at Kyle's accusation and said, "I would not ignore the child if they were not blessed with potential.  Admittedly, I would prefer a gifted grandchild over a non magically adept one, but I would not have a wastrel barring my name."

Then she heard a loud commotion, people shouting and sighed.  She tilted her forehead and said, "Admittedly, my curiosity is getting a hold of me.  I am going to see what is going on down there and remove anyone who should not be here."  With that, she vanished into her Shadows to head for the infirmary faster than she could walk down the steps.

******

Forest backed up as the sweet, bright crimson arch sprayed into the air.  Its coppery sweet scent tinged with something like grass and clean earth made her fangs start to throb in her jaw and her vision flashed red for the briefest of moments.  She reigned in her control as Archer backed away and grabbed the boards.

In the middle of setting the arm, the door was thrown open as Henry came in with a soldier carrying another soldier in tow.  The smell of rot hit her nostrils and almost caused her to gag.  The stench was coming from the woman in the solder's arms.

She's dying, Forest realized grimly.  Then she looked at Karna.  "Hey, wait, you've got almighty god powers and whatnot right?  I think now might be a good time to use them."  She pointed at the rotting woman, knowing that despite Henry's abilities, this was out of his league.

******

Lancer eyed Rin, saluted her with his glass, and said, "Frankly, that's more than the asshole deserves."

However he remembered a promise.  That Rin hadn't wanted Archer dead.  She cared for him, which was more than the bastard deserved, and Lancer wasn't going to kill him.  He was going to beat the miserable traitor to an inch of his life and then throw him at Rin's feet to beg for forgiveness.

Just . . . things didn't turn out that way.

Come back when you're older.

This Rin wasn't that Rin.  That Rin, despite being utterly drained and exhausted, was determined to heal him.  He had waved her off, knowing that she couldn't stave his second death off.

He grinned at her and said, "Well, right now it's late.  How about tomorrow though.  I come back and I'll show you the town.  We'll make a day of it.  I'm off from work and a bit of a date sounds like its exactly what you need."

Well, since they are adding stuff, it wouldn't be too hard to make it a sequel of sorts to Zero.

Not to mention UBW Saber is closer to Zero Saber than Fate.  In Fate you just see her get dickmitized by Shirou and she loses her regal awesomeness.

Oh man, I'm so excited about this.

UBW just seems like, if done right, could be a stand-alone.  Like you wouldn't need to have watched Zero before going into it, but if you have then there's all the neat call backs.  (Especially when the whole Kiritsugu/Shirou/Archer situation comes to light.)

Chapter Twenty-Five has just gone live.  Forest isn't going to crack with just a taser and Hawk has the stones to ask Wynn to pay him.

Happy Birthday, Mike!

"You should know my feelings now on growth and change," Wynn said with a tiny little smile as she toyed with a lock of hair that had fallen free, "You do know how my son loathes it when you call him by his middle name.  I thought his name was fitting due to his nature.  The demon and the divinity if you will."

"Honestly, I have yet to met the girl.  I just am aware she is on her cycle and that the sex was 'unprotected'."  Gabriel was normally so careful with his lovers; careful not to spread his seed wantonly and to keep his partners from conceiving.  It was something that irked Wynn.  She would have been happy to find the bastard children and make their mothers lucrative deals to give her the changlings.  I wonder if Gabriel does this in part to spite me.  However, this girl, there was something about her that stripped her son's precious control, so, of course, Wynn was eager to meet her and judge the potential brood mare.

She tilted her head at Kyle's question and said, "I would be overjoyed if the child was healthy and gifted.  Gender does not matter; each holds their own appeal.  The child having potential is key."

******

Forest frowned at Archer's words.  His concern was reasonable; after all she was a vampire.  Normally vampires didn't act as medical professionals or administer first aid.  Not to say her control was limitless, but a firm voice in her head, that sounded like a combination of Wynn, Gabriel and, Ash, said, It has been two days since you last fed.  Last time you were up close to potentially that much blood you'd made sure to binge on a werewolf before Wynn went into Labor.

Still, she scowled, nodded, and went to hold him down as Karna stepped in to help.  There was a look of annoyance on the stoic god's face as Archer gripped the blood coated bit of metal.  From Karna's hold, Forest knew Lucas wasn't going anywhere.

"Wait," she said, pulling off the belt of her jeans and securing it to Lucas's arm above the rebar.  She pulled it tight and made sure she could wiggle her finger in between the man's skin and her make shift tourniquet.  "One. Two. Three, pull the sodding thing out!"

******

Lancer gave Rin a sad grin and said, "Aye, your bowman was full of all sorts of self loathing.  Even took that Rin as hostage to provoke the redheaded kid to fight him.  Saber had to watch the fight; the possibility of her Master being raped and murdered be damned.  Hell, that even shocked the traitorous bastard."

He sighed and said, "If you feel the need to hit something, don't shunt it away.  Its unhealthy.  Drinking it away isn't going to help in the long run either.  There are plenty of things in this town that need to be fought."

He grinned and said, "So, wanna join an Irish hero and raise some hell?"

3355
Sorry guys, I won't be on line at all tomorrow.  Twelve hour trek to the in-laws after an early shift at work.  I will be back on Friday.

I posted and everything.

Wynn smirked at Kyle and said, "There is quite a bit you do not know about me, Dark Wolf.  Refusing to try new and unusual things can lead to stagnation, and there is plenty of that going around for my people."

She smoothed her suit needlessly with a sigh and said, "As for the Detective, Ashylnn mayhap be more upset than Forest would if something . . . amiss happened to him.  You know my son, despite his loathing of violence, would rejoice to see him come to an untimely end.  As for the maiden's blood you smell, if things go well this night, I might have a grandchild to shape as a proper heir."

Her long fingered hands clasped together as she smiled, almost swaying back and forth with joy.  "Think of it!  After almost a millennia the House of Umbra will have members of note that need not to hide in their namesakes."

******

Lancer eyed Rin's glass, noting that it was half empty.  Noting how intoxicated she was quickly getting he waved the bartender over and asked for a glass of water for her and a Smithwicks for himself.  Without a look towards Rin, the bartender went off to prepare Lancer's beer.

"Then that Bastard priest decides he's going to use her, you, that other Rin, as a vessel for the Grail.  Fuck that.  I told him as much and he commanded me to stab myself through the heart," he said with a shrug before his crimson eyes gleamed.

"He just forgot that I tend to linger and I got my revenge for him killing my true master.  Then I stabbed Shinji in the shoulder, let you go, and then burned the entire place down because Saber was an idiot.  Oh yeah, Saber was your -her - Servant at the time and she didn't even bother to go rescue her.  She was like, 'I have to partake in their battle and blah blah blah I'm a dense cunt . . .'"

He then slammed his fist into the table and said, "Next time you see that version of your Da, tell him to stay far away from a priest named Kotomine Kirei."

******

Forest watched as Lucas laid back into the bed, his burning arm healing at a remarkable rate.  She pulled her hair back and said, "Well with how fast he healed from Karna deciding to become a twisted firestarter, I can at least do some meatball first aid on him.  Like removing the rebarb and resetting that other arm before the bones grind into paste.  However, I'm going to need something to brace that arm."

She gestured to the cabinet in the back of the room and said, "Karna, there's a plank of wood about two meters high in there, could you get it and cut it into half, please?"

She then looked at Archer and asked, "Could you hold him down while I remove the metal pole sticking out of his arm?  As to what happened, well, I saw the bitch he got into a tussle with.  I'll just say powers on a Nightmare Fuel level.  After that, I'm not sure. From what I know of his personality, he might have pissed off the wrong person again."

General Discussion / Re: How would X win in a fight against Y
« on: July 23, 2014, 04:14:21 AM »
Honestly, I have to put the win on Ciel.

Even if Sakura was trained to the level of Rin, Ciel is a member of the Burial Agency.  She hunts Dead Apostles.  Alone.

She can fight defensively against Arcuied, who is four times a "normal" Servant's power.  If we're comparing power, the two might be equal.  However, Ciel has something Sakura doesn't: experience.    Ciel has fought a lot.  Sakura hasn't.  This is a case where Sakura's lack of experience is going to cost her the win.

Not to mention, Sakura's weak to sempais.

3358
Welp, guess Lyco Aptera and Enkidu don't need to reenact Colossus throwing Wolvy.

That is called the "Fastball Special".

3359
Wynn smirked as she allowed Kyle in.  "I shall allow you to check on your surrogate mother.  She has had quite the rough evening from what I have gathered."

She then shut the door with a flick of her wrist and said, "No, the Detective is not here.  I have no idea where that crass individual is.  However, there is some good Indian food in the kitchen I would suggest partaking in."

******

Forest blinked as Karna just decided to set Lucas on fire.  She gestured and asked, "What the bloody hell do you think you're doing?!"

******

Ash smirked as she showed Ellen to a spare bedroom with the windows boarded up.  "This should work.  Get some rest, Fledgling."

"Oh, well first he fucking left your side to join Caster.  Then he killed that bitch and her Master.  Oh, and he kidnaps you to use against the kid I stabbed," Lancer said before taking a long draw of harp.

His eyes narrowed and his voice deepened to a growl.  "Then he leaves you in a chair bound and helpless to let that little shit Shinji do what ever he wanted to.  Well until I punched the little asshole."
