Nanashi

As her head rested against the bar she focused, the world melted away as she saw her core before her. Left and right it flowed, up and down, spiraling and straightly. And so the soul moved, and so it began to produce power. And then, she was ripped from it as the man she took the effort to not sit next to greeted her.

That wouldn’t be so bad, if it wasn’t for the smell of smoke that clung to him like a film. Scrunching her noes for a second, she then sighed and turned her head, so that she was looking at him. “Nothing much I guess.” She responded slightly annoyed.

Then she got a good look at him again, having barely payed attention when she entered. “…what is a Christian priest doing in this part of town?”

Her tone wasn’t hostile, but it was definitely suspicious, or at the very least curious. There were not many churches, and this one seemed… different. Wait, what was she being so suspicious for. Damn, she was in a bad mood. And hungry, and tired, and her arm still kind of ached. Ok, shitty in general.

Nanashi

The sound of the tires rolling along the pavement was the only sound as Nanashi road on her bike. She was almost standing as she pedaled away. She had since changed her outfit, switching it out for the spare she had in the bag she carried on her back. It was a soft jacket, kept closed by a cloth belt, along with black stockings and her high black boots.

She quickly readjusted her glasses as she road. Her face was the picture of annoyance and exhaustion compressed into one, her eyes were dropping, her mouth was in a scowl, and her ears were patted down.

She slowed down, as she saw a sign to a bar. Coming to a stop she complicated it, before deciding. Getting off her bike she used the bike chain in her backpack to lock it to a nearby fence, before making her way inside, “I hope you’re open.” She spoke out in a dreary voice as she opened the door.

There were only two people, a woman in a kimono, and a man dressed as a priest, a notebook in his hand. They seemed to be talking about something, not that she cared about what. Her sharp yellow eyes looked around the room. A dojo, that’s what it reminded her of. If you took out the table, bar, and the other seemingly out of place objects that made it into a functional bar, that’s what she would say it was.

Well, whatever.

She simply walked up to the bar and sat down, a couple of chairs away from the priest. Taking some money out and put it on the counter. “Anything you have to eat, preferably beef, rare, if you have it, and a strong drink, surprise me.”

Then she put her head down, laying it on the counter, letting herself relax a bit.

The Blue Fire Vigilante

Splashing water echoed through the tunnel as a woman ran, her eyes glowing bright blue and trained ahead. “Shit, shit, shit.” She mumbled, as she kept running, using all her speed to keep ahead of that thing. Her tail danced in the air as she moved, and her ears twitched. And suddenly, without warning her, body twitched and eyes widened and she dived forward, blue flames propelling her.

The wall next to where she was exploded, and from it emerged a beast a giant ghastly wolf head with a trail of fur behind it, floating in the air, it stared and snarled at the woman as she landed roughly and then immediately and spun around, locking eyes with it.

She then turned and ran, directly towards the light that could be seen at the end of the tunnel.

The beast roared as it dashed at her. It was faster, far faster. But as it reached close, the floor under the water a blue glow appeared, and suddenly, blue flames erupted, forcing the beast to stop as it roared in pain.

The woman looked back, before she turned her head back and continued running, making a mad dash to the now visible grating. As she got closer flames began to dance up her arm, and a roar echoed behind her, “Come on, come on, come on.” And then the flames grew and shifted, forming a ring around her palm as lines of flames busted from her hand, “THERE! STRIKE BLAZE!” And her palm hit the gratings and light filled the tunnel.

Just as the beast leapt on her with its gaping maw.

An explosion ripped through the sewer grating, and from the blaze a person flew out. Fire exploded from her palms, propelling her and making her land on the opposite side of the small channel they found themselves at.

She fell to her knee and began to pant, “A bit too close for my liking.” She mumbled bitterly, with a scowl on her face. Before her ears twitched and she looked up, and glared.

From the smoke it almost seemed to slither, emerging with its fur trail moving like tail. Oily black, colored with the filth of the world, hate, despair, madness, all of those things clung to it like white on rice. The worst part was the permeable feeling of hunger, filling the air around it, like it was about to consume anything and everything. Slowly it emerged from the cloud, all the while its eyes locked on the delectable morsel before it, its eyes burning with hunger and hate. From its mouth black drool dropped which burned slightly as it touched the ground.

“Fucking kid.” The girl growled, before she rose to her feet and held her hands out in front of her, as if she was holding a ball. In the center of the hands a flame formed and surged, growing until it danced out of grasp though the gaps between her fingers and hands. And then, at that moment she smashed them together and swung them apart. A line of flames formed, before it began to coalesce, taking the form of numerous spheres that hovered in front of her, “Will o’ Wisp, Magatama Formation!” She called out, as her and the beast continued their stare down.

Then it exploded into movement. The beast dashed though the air dashing along the water that separated them, and in the moment the girl threw one of her hands forward, and a ball of flame followed her command. The ball flew, but the beast was faster, dancing around it with a hunter’s instinct, only for other to be in its path the moment it moved. Unable to dodge, it took it head on, the ball exploding and burning away at it. But it did not care.

Roaring the beast kept moving, undeterred, and was on her in a flash, its fangs attempting to rip open her neck. And the girl reacted, her hands moved, directing the remaining flames to seek down the beast, to track it down. A few were able to strike at the beast, as she girl dove to the side doing flips to build extra distance. Once she landed, she swung her hand and sending the rest of the spheres at the beast, each one finding its mark after it was knocked away.

Swinging her hands to the side, she focused her flames, and two more spheres formed in her palms. And with a flick of her arms she threw them right at it. The beast saw it coming and moved, but the girl continued to let them lose, ball after ball, forming and being released again.

The beast evaded them all, moving in unpredictable patterns as the balls tried will all their might to catch it. That is, until two of them smashed into the water and exploded. The explosion of steam and flames blinded and scalded the beast, causing it to let loose a monstrous roar that rattled the ground, but it was in that moment a voice called out, “STRIKE CANNON!” and a blast was release, a combination of two forms of flame, a ball of fire, propelled from a burst from her palm. It was shot like cannonball, released from the girl’s now outstretched palm, seeking its target, the roar giving the girl the location.

The fireball hit, and a great explosion racked the channel, sending the beast flying back. However, the moment it landed it began to float back up again, shaking its head to clear itself of the confusion caused by the blast.

“HYAAAAA” the beast looked up, its eyes enraged, only to see the sight of the girl the sun at her back, blinding the beast. In the air the girl roared, her hand glowing with flames, the same ones she used to break open the grate, while lightning and light surged around it, emanating from a talisman stuck to her forearm.

And then she struck “STRIKE BLAZE!” the fist. And the flames exploded in a spiraling wave, swallowing the beast. The beast roared in pain, a hallowing scream, and suddenly it stopped. The girl landed, panting heavily as the hurried to rip the talisman off her arm, proceeding to crumple it and throwing it onto the ground, where it slowly began to burn up into ash. She took a moment to cradle her arm, rubbing it a bit, and take a breath, before she looked to where the beast once was.

But now there was only a boy, a small child, no older than 5, “Well, let’s get you home. Before someone shows up.” She muttered bitterly, before picking up the child, grimacing slightly as she had to use her right arm.

And with the boy in her arm, she ran into the city, away from the sound of sirens that began to be heard.

“Thank you so much” A woman spoke, bowing to the girl as she let herself be sprawled over a couch, taking deep breaths and letting her eyes close. “I am so sorry you had to clean this up.” The woman told her, the regret obvious in her voice.

“It’s-“ Pant “-alright-” pant “-don’t-” pant “-worry about it.” Her exhaustion was apparent; as she let out a groan as she let her head fall backward after a moment of silence. “Man that kid was strong, what have you been feeding him?” She was able to make out, seeming finally having caught her breath.

“It’s my fault; I did not take the proper precautions, if I had only done something…” The woman told her, her eyes slightly moist.

The girl looked at her, for a moment, before a look of realization crossed her features. “He, your husband, he doesn’t know.” It wasn’t a question, but it was confirmed when the woman looked down in shame. “You didn’t even tell him his kid isn’t human, do you know how dangerous that was?!”  Her tail was swaying erratically now.

There was anger in her voice, but there was also disappointment. The silence the woman had in response only increased her ire more. “I swear to…” she grumbled, before sitting up and letting her head fall into her palms.

Silence filled the room for a few moments before the girl took her hand away from her face and patted her knees, getting up from her sitting position. “You’re going to tell him, when he gets back from work. You’re going to tell him and work things out. You’re going to explain your feelings; you’re going to explain what you had to go though, what you had to overcome. And then you’re going to apologize. Every day, you’re going to apologize. If he truly loves you, then it shouldn’t matter in the end.”

She said all this as she walked up to a picture, it was a man and woman, dressed up, and standing next to one another. It was a marriage photo. They looked so happy. As she looked at it the girl’s eyes softened, her tail became more subdued in its movements, and eventually she sighed.

“It will be fine. If… if he won’t listen, tell him to talk to me. I will fix him straight. My mom had nine… so I know what it can be like, I guess” She said softly, “Don’t worry too much.” Reaching into her pocket she pulled out a small talisman, a charm, like one would put on their backpack, “Here, this should help subdue his urges, but it won’t work forever, the sooner you teach him to control it, the better.”

The woman took it, looking at it before grasping it between her hands, like it was something of unimaginable value. “T-thank you.” She was crying, the tears flowing down her eyes. “Thank you so much Miss Nanashi. I won’t forget this. Thank you.”

The girl, Nanashi, looked uncomfortable, shifting from foot to foot, and scratching the back of her head, a slight blush on her face. “I-its fine, don’t worry about it.” She told her, “I would do it for anyone, so, don’t harp on it.” She turned away and began to leave.

As she began to open the door, the woman called out again, “Please, if you ever need anything, anything, please, don’t hesitate to ask.”

Nanashi looked like she wanted to say something, but she bit her lips and nodded. “Got it, I will see you around.” And with that, the girl left, into the city, leaving behind a crying but smiling woman, who was slowly stroking the hair of the sleeping boy.

Crazed Ones
Race: Half Blooded Beings or those with Tainted Souls/Blood
Numbers: Vary Greatly
Spoiler for Examples:

Stats:

Strength: Exceptional-Fantastic
Agility: Exceptional-Incredible
Constitution: Exceptional-Fantastic

Magical Ability: Depends on the type, however very uncommon as most prefer their natural abilities. But Half spirits, such as those that are half land god or Chinese river dragons often have great magical powers.

Powers:
While the powers of the Crazed Ones varies greatly on the type of being they are, there are general traits one should be aware of. They will almost always be more durable and have higher physical abilities then normal humans. In addition, most seem to be vortexes of Malice and Curses, being that are fueled by Fear and disgust, it is a harrowing for the being, who experiences their uncontrolled actions as if it was a dream they cannot awake from. In general it is possible to return them to a human form with an exorcism of some type; however the chance of them being too far gone always remains. At that point, the only mercy is to free them from their suffering though death.

Examples:
Inugami: The Half-Inugami is a major example of crazed ones. It is rare in of itself that an Inugami can move beyond the hate and curses that make it up, but ones that do, and adopt a human form, sadly pass on their hatred that they have long controlled to their children. These children normally are physical strong, and are sensitive to negative emotions, with the exact nature of their powers involving curses. However, should they demonize, or fall, they become beings fueled by guideless hate and hunger, seeking to kill everything, gaining abnormally high strength, speed, and the ability leak curses. They take the form of detached heads which drip bloody shadows, however, their shriveled up human body can be seen in the fur that flows behind them.

Oni: Common and numerous are the Half-oni. Oni are perhaps the most well-known, but most varied. From general shapeshifters, to those that have animal components, to simply hulking being, they take a variety of shapes.  They generally simple gain strength, speed, and toughness, while obtaining some of the abilities of their parents, depending on the type of Oni they are. They are the least susceptible to exorcisms and holy abilities, but they are the easiest to revert due to Oni having a mostly human mind in many ways.

Cursed Beings: While not strictly an example of halfblooded beings, there are also those being that can become victim to powerful curses, which have the side effects often on the children of those that were afflicted, even if they were cured or the curse suppressed it is still possible. These children can have their forms and spirits corrupted, as they are driven to insanity by the power of the curse that was passed on. It is more difficult to resolve, requiring large amounts of purifying power, or to have the curse lifted.

Nue: The rarest of the rare, Half Nue is almost unheard of. Beings of destruction and omens cannot touch others, and so when one can maintain a human form for long enough to give birth to a half blood it is a once in a millennium occurrence. When a Half Nue falls, they become a loose cloud of destruction, in which the elements run rampant. Especially vulnerable to holy arts and exorcisms, but it takes containment methods combined with those for them to return.

Crimson Red Vermilion: A rare type of half breed which have descended from Oni. Their powers vary wildly among they numbers, and there exists the possibility of them never being tempted to fall. Their numbers are extraordinarily small, even within the Nexus.  They are also not normally capable of reverting, and they use a special name for their fall, the Inversion Impulse.

Others: Many others exist, but these are simply some examples. Many are those that most have never heard of, as the nature of the nexus draws from many worlds.

Bio: The blood of the inhuman is strong, but at times it can be mixed with a human, and from there produce life. But the blood will remain strong, and the darkness it holds within can make the new life become something else, something darker. It is a fear all half-bloods have to some degree, and something which can be trained against. But the risk is always there, and so, you must always be vigilant.

Fiona Bacarra

“Uhh, I mean, I appreciate it. But, well…” She paused awkwardly, before turning too directly to the dragon, putting her hand up in an apologetic prayer and giving him an apologetic look. “Sorry, it’s just a bit personal. And I don’t want to be mean but, um.”

She laughed a bit, before scratching the back of her head, and then she sighed, “And it’s something that I really should be doing myself, I shouldn't get others involved.”

She was honestly surprised that she hasn’t been jumped by something since she got here, she hoped to some level something would soon, otherwise it would just get harder and harder for her help people.

Also, hopefully she would find some way to get something not a plant to eat. Man, she could even just go for some bread or something. Oh, some ham and Swiss on that, with Mayo. She could then get a milkshake or something, maybe a good stout or wine or something. Her mouth was almost salivating at the thought.

51
Fiona:What's your favorite dessert!!

How could I possibly pick a favorite? There is just so much to chose from!

Fiona: But what if mummies reanimated, would you be surprised about that? Nexus may contain strange stuff like that.

Wouldn't that just be a zombie? I mean, it would be odd that a spirit or something would chose such a delicate and frail corpse to animate, but its not something I haven't dealt with before.

Fiona Bacarra

“Uh-uh” She shook her head, “I don’t know much about this place. I just found this empty place to say.” She looked up, looking to the sky. “There are a few things I need to do though.” She said thoughtfully, she… she needed to train. She should probably head to the park, find a quiet place, and practice a bit.

It would be nice. To let loose and dance, it would be the first time to do any serious practice since she got here. “Hmm” She hummed as her head bobbed left and right as she thought with her eyes closed. Too bad she didn’t have any money, she would have loved to go get some fish or something, eating food from the garden constantly was getting tiring.

If she was home her mentor would probably be yelling at her for being so relaxed.

53
Hey,

Now that I am back I would like to give an apology for how I acted with Hamara, mainly about how I seemed to let my own mental perceptions of the character go beyond what was on the sheet into the game. For that I apologize.

I could give a long down out apology for it. I could constantly repeat that I was wrong. But that would just be repeating over and over again and beating the dog dead.

So, I am sorry. I really am.

Hope you can forgive me.

54
Fiona: I mean, of couse there are mummies. I saw them when I visited a museum. It was a really cool exhibit.

55
Fiona Bacarra

“Sorry, I’m just… I just haven’t been home in a while is all, I guess I am a little on edge.” She smiled at the dragon, “And thank you, please don’t eat them, they have it hard enough with all the snow.”

Crows weren’t meant to live in this weather, but somehow they were making it work, along with all the other wildlife that seemed to make this city home. It was incredible, and made her smile inside. In a way it eased her heart a bit, allowing for her to calm herself down. Slowly she walked closer, clearly having regained some of her confidence.

“Also, don’t worry. I am sure you will find your family again soon. And they definitely have you in their thoughts.” She understood that feeling, but it was different for her. She could always feel the garden, the place where all Cycle Druids are bound, and the place where they drew their powers from. We were always together because of it, not matter how far apart we were. While it was not strictly true, it was something, a white lie she could tell herself to let her sleep at night.

In a way she guessed it was unfair. Unfair that she could find at least some comfort in that, when anyone else in her shoes would probably be lost. But… maybe she could help someone. Well, a dragon, but it still counts.

Hiding her hands behind her back for a moment, she called forth a simple red rose. And then, with her command and her blessing she crushed it, releasing a soft smoke that dispersed immediately, with a smell no doubt overshadowed by the scent of roses she carried with her.

“I am sure it will be fine.” She said to him, a smile on her face and hoping the power of the rose would fill him with some happiness. She couldn’t… she couldn’t do much else. "So don't worry. Everything will work out in the end, it always does. You just have to believe."

56
Fiona Bacarra

“Hahaha, ya right.” She laughed along; not really getting what was funny. “Funny, ya.” Ok, shut up now, “Hahaha.” Oh god shut up, don’t piss off the dragon. “But ya, they aren’t friends… no, not at all, who would have birds for friends. That’s not depressing at all.” Foot meet mouth, “I just… really like birds?”

Oh sweet merciful god, please help me.

57
Fiona Bacarra

Fiona blinked as she stared at the dragon, “Red-tinted… ravens?” She asked before a look of clarity appeared on her face as she realized that he was talking about her crows. Why would he ask about…? Oh no, “Y-you…” She gulped, “You didn’t eat them, did you?” She asked full of worry for her friends now.

Oh no, oh no, oh no. That's bad, that's really bad.

She really, really hoped she was wrong.

58
Fiona Bacarra

“Hehehehe” She kept laughing, trying to make the tension that now filled her body go away, slowing her laughing slowed, until ultimately it stopped and she sighed, and grabbed her arm nervously.  “Fiona” she introduced herself, her voice much softer than before, “Fiona Bacarra. It’s nice to meet you.” She shuffled awkwardly, unsure what to say.

Just why did she have to go make a fool of herself like that. Even a dragon was more composed then she was, there was no end to this embarrassment. She just wanted to run away and hide.

59
Fiona: What's your favorite type of carnivorous plant?

Fiona: Uhh, well, there aren't that many, and they are all really amazing in their own way. But batterworts are really cool. They like, pump out water outside of small bubbles, and then when something goes near the trap door it opens, sucking them in and then trapping there there. Whats really cool is why they have to do that, you see they grow in marches, where there isn't a lot of nitrogen in the water, cause their aquatic.  So they need to get it from somewhere else, like insects. Its really amazing, it shows just how incredible nature can be, how it can grow into such unique things.

60
Fiona Bacarra

“Ahhh” She sighed happily, before suddenly an unsettling sound came from the lizard she was holding onto. Immediately, she backpedaled away. Before coming to a stop, finally letting the dragon’s words reach her.

It...it could talk? It was only then she remembered that it introduced itself. It...it was intelligent, and could talk English, a HUMAN language. It was only then the inplications of what she did actually hit her. It was a dragon, but it was fully aware, intelligent. It understands whats she did more then an animal could.

It. Was. Mortifying. For the love of god she was 22! And she acted like a child.

“Huh? “Ah… umm… I’m sorry? I’m really, really sorry.”

“It’s just… I have never seen a dragon. Only ever read stories. I guess I was a bit excited?” She forced an awkward laugh, trying to wave it off as if nothing happened.
