The violent warrior instead of seeking another opportunity for a brawl instead retreated to the outskirts of the city, planning to spend the time until the sunset on continuing some basic training. She could have easily killed some time bringing chaos to the city, but doing the same thing too much would get tiring in a while. She could follow whatever silly rules the tournament had in order to restrain herself. So for example she wouldn't blow up the ring until finals or if she ran into an enemy who would corner her. She would wear a mask of a 'good girl' for now. Yeah, she got to be patient or channel it in another way.

Absorbed in her psychopathic thoughts, she continued her training. For every tree or rock she hit, she imagined face of anyone she fought before. A sort of mental training that overlapped with physical one. Limbs snapped, bones broke, blood was spilt in her vivid and morbid imagination. Bodies were vaporized, malls were torched down, panicked civilians fled. Then she dabbed a pizza in a pool of blood. Getting carried away a bit, huh? Anyone who could take a peek into her mind would be probably revolted by what the imagined mayhem and chaos. And she wasn't bothered in slightest. Stalking, hunting and devouring was part of the core nature she inherited from her parents.

After destroying trees and rocks around, the red haired girl sat on the sole rock she spared. She still haven't changed since the fight with Ray. Her jeans were kinda worn by now, her shirt still sported a hole from getting stabbed by her opponent's sword. The wound healed by now, but still itched a bit.

"Huh, this should be interesting. My regeneration is kinda annoying sometimes when I want to be have some fun." She reflected on the past fight. She also was really hungry for a pizza. With any good sauce. Mmmm.

"Alright, I'll keep that in mind." She noticed the girl's modesty. Was it lack of confidence or low self-esteem or she was genuinely that humble about her own abilities? Anyway, it was auspicious that she didn't fall into hubris that many practicioners of magic and sorcery displayed. And she had a husband or boyfriend at her side who supported emotionally her. So yeah, she wasn't worried about the couple's attitude.

"If we don't find a good place to observe them, I know some tricks that maybe could let us observe closer. It'd take some time and the method is not as secure as your familiar. In some way, at least. It'd hinge on whether our 'prey' would think that cockroach or rat spirits are beneath her notice. But that's out of question if she's too paranoid or goes out of her way to kill weaker beings like them." She explained the more risky alternative they had. "I personally think we should stick to the current plan as much as we can unless we run into complications."

As for the vantage point... "Hmmmm." The shifter used her Gift to enhance her vision and look for a good place. "Do you think that's a good place too, sir?" She adressed Shirou as she pointed at what she found after few moments of observation.

"Just train somewhere outside, okay? You're probably the kind of person who doesn't know their strength." The wizard chided her companion before going out to shop for stuff she needed. She would need elements and substances keyed to each aspect of magic. Preferably not dangerous, but with Medaka's recovery capabilities it didn't matter that much. She'd just go for most optimal combination to prepare those tests. Such ingredients were best found in small stores rather than large outlets.

"Wow, how to put it. It's been in a while since I was genuinely impressed by something like that." The werewolf expressed her surprise even after she focused actively to detect the familiar. "Such efficiency is more outstanding than just boasting high level reserves of magical power."

Guys like that pirate might have been raw power, but just trashing around like that took less control and finesse and skill than let's say being able to run on a drop of fuel for 100 km.

"But I guess you want to know about the extent of my capabilities in turn. In good circumstances and with focus, I could hear or see people from miles away. As far as my lineage is concerned I'm an average in magic but I genuinely take pride in my perception. Our teamwork might be enough to observe our quarry concealed."

Anastasia

"I guess neither of us will die on each other if we split to take care of that. A fair warning, though. I'm not sure how much it will take for me to shop for everything I need." In her assessment, it could be few hours. And more if luck wasn't on her side. "Either way, if we split, just wait on me in my apartment. And don't cause more destruction while I'm away."

"Just don't break any windows again in first place. It really shows your almost complete lack of discipline. If I you want to hear my honest assessment: you do care when someone's life is at stake, but outside dangerous situations you're careless and quite absentminded. I can trust you with my life, but I wish I could trust my property with you."

The girl didn't hold back when it came to phrasing her opinions, as usual. Such lack of order just grated on someone who was very big on fitting into the wider community and finding her place in a hierarchical society.

"It's not just me who will complain about the broken window. Neighbors, pedestrians, the landlord, people who will have to clean up the shards. We may get fined for littering in addition to any costs you will have to bear to repair it."

"At very least I need to explain what we're going to do next. At this stage you can basically perceive the spiritual nature of the world. You cannot control magic and you should not to handle it. It's akin to trying to grasp sword by blade. Except you don't know even with what kind of weapon you should practice. There are diverse types of magic and you might not have affinity for my particular subset. So at this stage, we got to perform further tests. Do you have money? We might need to shop through stores for ingredients for my tests. And you already owe me reparations for my windows, do not forget that."

So she really didn't give up, after all. She simply used the property damage as a leverage to make her feel obliged to fund her esoteric examinations. Unless Medaka shifted the burden on a third party.

Ancient heroes summoned as familiars? Someone was binding around ancestor spirits into service? Interesting, but downright concerning depending on who was doing that. And who was the ancestor spirit in question. Doing that to the spirits from whom her kind descended would justifiably raise her ire. She'd be wary, but more neutral about unaffiliated spirits. But anyway, onto the matter at hand!

"What do I think? I do wonder why you didn't use that more stealthy kind of familiar in first place, but never mind, we have to think of the present and the future rather than the past. I'll exercise utmost caution and assist you with this endeavor. Whatever is her nature, she cannot be just ignored." She agreed to assist the couple. "Could I take a look at your familiar once you make it? If I've it hard to sense it, then it should be a good sign. I pride myself on my capability to sense magic after all."

Anastasia

"Splendid. This means that my plan wasn't as poorly thought as I feared." The wizard clapped her hands together and gave a small smile. Everything went pretty swimmingly so far.

"Congratulations. You have at least potential to learn some basic basics. And you gained a skill which you lacked before in the process. So I think it's already noteworthy progress."

"Were you that nonchalant about breaking through windows before obtaining regeneration or you were that kind of capricious fool from the start?" No remorse at all. Maybe it was pointless to continue that for too long. They've had something to do. Let's see

Anastasia patiently looked down at the alley below the building, in search of any spiritual activity. Spirits either sustained themselves through acts of worship or through feeding on acts that were aligned to their nature. So it wasn't surprising for her to spot... small cat-bear hybrid spirit lounging around in presence of raccoons looking through the trash in the alley. Definitely a spirit, even if downright pathetic in power.

"Do you see anything but raccoons down in the alley, Medaka?" She asked the vampire an important question. It's not like that they neded to search for a powerful spirit to get their answer.

Anastasia was quietly annoyed both about the windows (which weren't cheap considering her income after all) and the fact that she grabbed the wizard as if she couldn't handle travel herself. So Anastasia simply smacked Medaka in the back of her head to express her disapproval after they landed.

"I'm not paying for the windows, so I will make sure I will exploit you to such an extent that you will think twice about pulling off that again." She stated after symbolically punishing the vampire physically. With her human strength and Medaka's recovery capabilities she doubted that it would have any effect on her, but she still did that to make a point.

Maybe it was a bit unprofessional to dwell on that matter, but still, it's not like spirits would go away. And she really wanted to drill into Medaka to not do it again.

"Hmmm, I don't think destroying a non-combat familiar is such a feat as you make it out to be, but huh, I guess you have reasons to be concerned. It's still a far better outcome than the familiar getting captured instead and tampered with." Maybe she was jaded because she had seen worse. A power of flight combined with ability to retaliate with a range attack and ability to control minds seemed troublesome, but with her life experience certainly she maintained cool about the revelation. Then, the couple asked her if she could track their quarry.

"It's possible with my capabilities unless she has some magic to interfere with that. Just hearing? If I focus, I could hear her from miles away while you could track her with sight. Shared responsibilities, and I have pretty good memory as well as I know quite a lot of languages due to my study of Hermetic lore. Greek, Coptic, Hebrew, Latin, as well as Syriac, Armenian and Arabic."

"I don't regret this meeting as well. If I didn't meet you, I doubt I'd be now wondering if I will end up with a disciple in the near future. I would probably just go back home and didn't have anyone interesting to talk with right now. So I won't be really disappointed either if that doesn't work out."

But still, she couldn't make her judgement about that until they prove decisively whether their plan worked out or not. So there was still a glimmer of hope, so to speak. "Then, shall we go outside and see if you will get disappointed or not? I'm more than ready right now."

"Yes, I don't need to rely 'familiars' for sake of observing because my perception can be that sharp. Secondly, I don't know the context, but a tail is hardly something unique to demons. Last but not the least, I'm Ellen Warren." They indeed got caught up in their work, so probably the shortest werewolf in this city tried to distill her response as briefly as she could. "I guess I neither you nor I have time for more full introduction. But if you could tell me some more details as long as it doesn't distract you, I will appreciate it."

If that was a demon, then frankly that waren't good news by any measure. But she'd need to focus to discern any signs of spiritual corruption. Passively detecting magic was one thing, but actively peeling through mysteries to unravel the truth of the reality required effort and dedication.

"I see. So that's an in-born quality rather than inherited one. Speaking of which, if you have an aptitude for magic after all, make no mistake, it would be something in-born rather than inherited. My plan just aimed to facilitate that. When we both finish our meal, then we should venture out looking for a spirit or a ghost. With some luck, it won't take us too long to find a one."

They couldn't just sit here and talk without taking any action. Theory mattered, but practical experience even more, after all.
