General MMO thread
« on: May 11, 2013, 04:15:53 AM »
So yeah, if you generally want to talk about various MMOs without making an individual thread for them, this is where you go. I've been playing Mabinogi and Neverwinter somewhat recently. Mabi still holds up for me surprisingly enough, despite how old it is- I've been having fun with it. Neverwinter... I haven't played very far yet, but I don't like how the controls are set up. I've just started playing though, and I managed to get the cursor mode set to right mouse click, so we'll see what my opinion is.

So anybody want to talk about those or any other MMOs?

I've thought about Mabinogi.  Is it any good?

I've got more experience with Maple Story, as well as World of Warcraft... and the first has problems with accounts getting hacked, while the second... just... ugh.  Pay to play is starting to get old.

Guild Wars was DECENT, but I couldn't really get into it very well.

Well, Alice has managed to persuade me to give Mabi a try, although installing it was a pain in the ass. I've not tried playing it just yet, though.

I am very persuasive you see.  :3 But yeah, despite being as old as it is, it holds up pretty well, plus it's still very unique from other MMOs, since it's pretty much the only one I'm aware of that does what it does with combining domestic elements with combat elements to the extent that it does. :) Plus the combat system has a bit more of an active spin than most "click skill, attack, rinse and repeat" mmos, but is still different enough from more action RPGish MMOs to still feel unique in the combat system. :) Plus you get your own little Homestead at lvl 10 where you can build and place various useful things, so that's nice as well.

It's pretty much what it implies in the title.  Tank warfare at its finest.

It's a game your parents play while reminiscing about the good old days when they had jobs.

Yeah, I guess it should have been pretty obvious from the title....
