Amanda

The elf girl appeared to be probing Archer based on his reaction, She raised her hands as she saw the glow coming from him but quickly averted when it faded away.

That still left the now annoying presence still sitting on her lap.

"are you planning on sitting here all evening?" She directed her question towards Eruaviel.

Eruraviel

The girl's ears wiggled. "Well, why not, it's a comfortable seat, you know." Eru crossed her legs and settled in. "Now tell me about the nobles who have enacted these terrible policies."

Eleanor

The Lantern probed at the Nexus again today. There were always so many things to divine, a thousand flickering shadows that cast themselves before her sight. But those too would vanish in time with just a tad of effort. That left the major players, those whose actions rippled across the city. This time she searched for magic, the variety of creative sparks which distorted reality. There was one paired with a bright light of the Lantern. Yes... maybe that was what she needed.

So she retrieved her briefcase. Eleanor filled it with pages of lore, burning bright sparks of passion and inspiration, small boxes and puzzles, and six Hints crammed between pages, and in nooks, and between shadows. The other six spread out farther, prepared to trail her from a distance. Her whole body might have felt more dead than a sawed off log but if this restlessness didn't get dealt with it would be far worse! So she set out for a brisk walk to her destination. It wouldn't be hard to spot them even without Lantern illuminating them like stars in the endless night. Well, one of them at the very least.

If she simply walked after them ceaselessly, would they notice? She was curious to find out. So she did.

Archer

"Better you than me," was all Archer said to Amanda with a little smirk as he settled back down.

He was curious himself to learn about this nobility keeping Fae as slaves and pets.

Magnificent Tower

The tower from above revealed another entrance. At the top of the tower a smaller steel door that looked more worn than the one that tried to eat Ananta before. It led, presumably, into a chamber within that Sakura could not sense.

No movement out of the false door.

Lighthart

The general blinked.

"A piece of paper..." She muttered under her breath, as if disbelieving this was real. Had humans really become so cheap??? She couldn't help but shake her head in pity, giving her a sad smile.

"That is an inadequate reward for your efforts, dear vassal. The languages is a valued skill, you will certainly be of great use to me! Then again it is only natural that you could prove yourself considering I spoke of you in such high regard. But this?! This simply cannot do..."

She reached for her own secret pocket and searched through it, grinning when she suddenly felt what she was looking for!

"Lo and behold, my glorious diploma! It is the crystallized heart of the elder demon I had slain at the age of twelve! It even has sacred runes inscribed in it for preservation, here, see?"

She definitely wasn't showing off now. Not at all!

Hannah

Of course Lighthart was trying to one-up her accomplishments. Of course. And to claim she could slay an elder demon that young? Hannah turned to open her mouth and give the paladin a piece of her mind right up until she saw the crystal. That brought her up short.

"That's..." The sorceress touched it and felt it. Felt how it was at once kin to and apart from the dark power circulating through her own blood. She wrapped a hand over it to cover it up, and looked at Lighthart seriously. "... not something we should show off in public."

Oh, but think of what she could do with that. The whole thing was so distracting she scarcely recognized they were being stalked.

Lighthart

Lighthart closed her eyes and smiled coolly, giving her an accepting nod. "In my opinion, it is a far more fitting reward. Effort should be recognized and rewarded, therefore know that even if the world shan't give you your earned spoils, I am different."

Even if she did notice the new presence stalking them, the paladin paid it no heed. People were free to cower and gaze at the sun from afar as they liked, that was the right and privilege of the commoners under her care. Though that woman looked more like a moving corpse than a person of flesh and blood.

And she had no interest in the dead.

Instead, she gave her vassal a warm, fierce grin. "You may keep it if you desire it. A vassal's duty is to take proper care of its lord's possessions." She dropped the heart carelessly into her hands, which might cause it to fall and break if not caught. Not that it mattered to her, once given she had lost all interest in it. She then turned her face slightly to the approaching intruder, with a far different and most oppressive glance, one that would crush any lesser man with its piercing coldness. "Is there something I can help you with?"

Amanda

Fine, if she wanted to play like that, Archer's smug face couldn't be tolerated either, she'd wipe it off both of them. Amanda pumped more magic into a certain set of runes she had, namely the ones that affected her appearance.

The mage also wrapped an arm almost posseively around Eru's waist, keeping her from going away. "They seized power around the time the former Chief passed away, or rather their faction led by Lord Nelson T. Russell gained majority. They then pushed through a bunch of unsavory policies, the enslavement of the elves being one of them."

"While I am the officially the Chief of this area, the true power is held by them, and all the forces are in their pocket."

Eleanor

It was quite a scary look! Something like that could paralyze nearly anyone else on this street. Eleanor gave a short bow, her eyes filled with Lantern fire for those who knew what to look for, and she gently sculpted a smile onto her face. "My apologies for taking such a long time to introduce myself. I was simply unsure how to approach the both of you. I am Eleanor, and I have been searching for other practitioners of magic in this city in order to advance my own studies."

Hannah

The sorceress' face went red at Lighthart's arrogant approximation of affection, and she pulled the crystal away from the paladin's hand with a soft 'hmph.' "Y-Yes, well, I suppose I should hold onto something this valuable. My familiar's belongings might as well be mine anyway."

She deposited it into her bag for later study, then went very still at the sudden intrusion Lighthart pinpointed. An otherworldly light flickered in the eyes of a being who appeared human but was likely no moreso than Hannah herself. The cambion licked her suddenly dry lips as... something about this being struck her.

Something tasty. "Hannah. And this is my familiar, Lighthart." She motioned to the paladin with a tilt of her hand. "Is a city street truly the best place to be asking about this?"

Charlotte

The blonde's attempts to answer her through the distraction that was the lizardman humping her ass were almost adorable. Wait no, scratch that, it was definitely adorable to watch. Deciding there was no harm in letting things continue for a while longer, Charlotte carried on with Nero, ignoring the way her ass was moving now.

"Is that so?" the gunslinger drawled, "Ain't it a bit soon for love, darlin'? I'd say we're still in the territory of friends or acquaintances, unless things move different round where you're from."

Ananta

She pouted for a moment, her passions stifled by the completely reasonable suggestion given by the psychic girl. "Well-- alright. I'm sorry. Sometimes I get a little heated in a fight! We can try attacking it from here if you want." Her whole body got swallowed up by that heat haze before a gout of fire blazed from Ananta's mouth, splashing against the wall.

Lucy

This final stomping on her brought little more than a wheez out of her, with how much pain she'd just been through and with how much she was still feeling, that little thing barely registered now. She'd have to be content to be at his whims for a while but that didn't mean the tables wouldn't turn eventually.

"Then would you be so kind as to take me to wherever you are going next? As you might see I'm in a bit of a pinch here...." After all his knight like behaviour and mannerism surely he couldn't look away from a lady's request?

Asking the one who has done this to her in the first place, how embarassing! She was almost disgusted with herself, but for now she had to play this role.

Eleanor

Her hands vanished into her coat before withdrawing the frayed wings of a moth, a scrap of wood, and a small coin. She pressed them together, a light heat blossoming in her hands, before she let loose ash and pocketed the unblemished piece of currency. As if a veil had been drawn over their meeting, people's senses simply glazed over them.

Hannah

Hannah watched with visible hunger at the casual display of magic. To establish a barrier like this with no preparation...? No, there was something going on with the items in question. They were components of some sort, and the obscurity that followed proved their efficacy. "The wings and the wood were sacrificed, but the coin...?" She caught herself murmuring. "I guess if I had a curtain I could make a barrier like that, but..."

She shook her head, and smiled wryly. "Well now you have me curious, too."

Magnificent Tower

The wall was scorched, burnt black as the outermost layer flaked off like dead skin. The layer beneath that was blackened and charred, but refused to yield to the flames of the sage. It would take hours at least to make progress that way.
