Shirou

The Next Morning

Shirou managed to untangle himself from Sakura and kissed her forehead.  He made sure she was still covered before glaring at the plush version of himself.  He stroked her hair from her face before he dressed in the clothing he had on yesterday.

Sakura's right, I really do need some clothing, he thought with a shake of his head, wondering why he didn't pack a knapsack with him that had the essentials in it.  In his head he heard an all too familiar voice, one that had helped him in a great time of need.  He vaguely remembered the person, a man with white hair shrouded in red.

Shirou knew the man's presence was gone, but sometimes Shirou imagined him talking to him.  Giving him guidance.

You planned poorly, Emiya Shirou, and Sakura has changed after all of these years.  She will need your help.

"I already know that," Shirou mumbled to himself before heading to where he was most comfortable, the kitchen.

Sakura awoke as soon as soon as Shirou began to try to untangle himself from her. She'd never been a terribly heavy sleeper, and she'd barely been getting any sleep at all for the past three years, usually about two or three, maybe four hours on an exceptionally good night.

However she feigned sleep, lying still and breathing slowly as to fool Shirou. As soon as he left the room, she sat up and put her plush in front of her, not bothering to put her ribbon back on just yet.

"He's back Senpai." She said to him.

"Yep!" he replied "You should go down and sneak up on him, don't let him monopolize breakfast!" The plush commanded her.

"Right!" She sat up straight at attention as she said it. "You wait here while I go do that!" She nodded forcefully and left the room, still in her pajamas not wearing her ribbon."

Sakura tiptoed down the stairs quietly, like a ninja. She peeked from the corner outside the kitchen, and sure enough, Shirou was there, sneakily trying to cook their breakfast. Alone! The silly rascal. She casually stepped into the room with a knock. "Sen-pai, what are you doing?"

Shirou

Shirou turned around when he heard the female voice behind him.  He smiled and said, "I'm getting ready to cook breakfast.  I was trying to let you sleep."

Rin

The bottle of whiskey was empty beside her, and Rin herself was slumped over Faust's desk.  She was snoring softly after finally giving into exhaustion last night.

"You can't fool me, Shirou!" She poked at the air. "You were just trying to cook breakfast alone! You should wake me up and have us do it together!" Sakura said.

The redhead laughed and said, "No, I really did want to let you sleep.  You know me, I always get up early.  Plus I thought it would be good to have everything ready when you and Tohsaka got up."

"You can't beat me anymore, Senpai! But fiine. You can cook me a good meal, and I'll go find Rin and rouse her. But I get to make you breakfast tomorrow, okay!"

Kenzo walked off dejected, ignoring the final survivor, the only true pioneer of the genre of food massacre survival techniques. As he did, other people popped in, discussing new food in various ways, but...

What was important to Kenzo wasn't the food! It was the food he'd made, the ingredients he'd gotten together, the effort he poured in!

And he thought it was all wasted. That wasn't right.

There was only one thing she could do for the man. And that was, he had to see the salad. He had to.

She would make it his destiny.

She turned to the two other people, not really registering the specifics of their words or appearances, and took a quick bow.

"Excuse me, I need to follow him!" She said, and without waiting for a response ran after the dejected man.

"Kenzooooooooooo!" She yelled as she did, desperate to let him know, to let him see.

To let him see the salad.

"That sounds nice." She smiled at him before leaving the room to look for her sister, who she found very quickly with the help of her bugs. She descended the stone stairs into her basement to find Rin slumped over a desk, sitting over her teacher's notes with an enormous bottle of liquor completely emptied. You should have asked first... It's not like she really minded sharing this kind of stuff with Rin but she should at least have asked before trying to crack it. And what was she thinking, draining an entire bottle of liquor? Was she an idiot?

Sakura sighed audibly. She walked over to Rin, and with a bit of effort, managed to detangle her from the chair and lift her up from underneath her arm and legs. "Nee-san, why...?" She murmered as she carried her unconcious sister up the stairs to her room. "You're going to be sorry you did this." She said as she placed Rin onto her bed. "You can stay here for now, Rider Shirou and I need to clean up your room. You'll probably miss breakfast. And maybe lunch. Why am I even talking right now, you can't understand me." Sakura laughed before leaving.

Oka

Oka was scared. Whomever was using this pokemon to do this was a serious jerk. It was totally not cool. She wanted to leave, but wasn't quite sure how.

Luckily for her, Wormy understood her plight, and took off into the air quickly, Oka still sitting in his lap. A bright blindinly bright flash burst forth from Wormy, blinding all in the immediate vicinity.

"Whoa!" Oka exclaimed.

Noel

"Uh, I can feed myself, I think, if you don't mind." Noel said with an awkward smile. Was she...on a date?

The construct deflated slightly but mechanically placed the chunk of meat on Noel's plate. Her relentless pace came to a shuddering halt when to the relief of the owner of the buffet she finally stopped eating. Although her bright eyes dimmed and drifted down to look at her lap Erica's voice was steady.

"I'm sorry about being so focused on eating. It is difficult for me to divide my attention. Custom in these situations for the participants to get to know one another, correct? Then it would be appropriate for me to begin. I have no hobbies but I do enjoy eating as I have never had the opportunity to try food before this time. Usually I am not so hesitant in my speech and actions but it is difficult to speak my mind with you. It hurtsme to see you uncomfortable or upset and I never wish to be the cause."

She did it. She did it again. She had one job, ONE job! But nooooo, she just had to fly away and ignore him again. What a shitlord.

Suddenly, a bright flash of light surged and hit him violently. He groaned as his whole body writhed, sizzled and bulged abnormally before turning into a black mass of dog-shaped goo. Finally, after standing still for a moment, hundreds of tiny eyes opened all over the goo.

And then, a multitude of tentacles burst from its back, bubbling and writhing before making out the shape of a man. Then, humid sinew permated the fleshy substance and quickly turned into skin. He looked displeased, his waving pink mane flowing while he glared at the two. Then, waving his hand in a theatrical fashion, beautiful clothes appeared of him, fancy ass clothes and a big umbrella. With a stomp, he leapt up in the air and began to run in the sky, like an over the top jogger.

"Hey, that really hurt you jerk." He said nonchalantly.

Part of the spirit medium was debating very heatedly on why she was venturing into a disgusting and most likely dangerous forest. It was certainly a good question but not one without an answer. This city was not only irreverent and plain but it was also just as if not more dangerous than the forest itself, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to find a spirit of quality. The forest was not her first choice but they generally did hold nature spirits of some quality.

However, even as the dirt and filth was physically repelled from her clothing she was beginning to grow a bit tired. Her occupation did not usually require a lot of exertion outside of channeling and she had been walking for quite a while. With a sigh she stopped at a clearing and rested against the trunk of the cleanest tree she could find. Continuing her search was important but she could wait a moment.

Sakagami Kenzo

Kenzo moped as he walked to the broom closet, brooding like a poor puppy as he picked up the broom. All the food, all the work, all the effort, all for nothing. He didn’t even notice the rotting food scrambling around.

Looking more defeated than ever, he took a deep breath and prepared himself for a looong clean up session. Usually, he wouldn’t have minded. But right now, it was not only a chore to him but a reminder.

A reminder that he always messed the most important parts. It was his fault that the plates broke after all, his fault that all this wonderful food was now ruined. He really was a good for nothing, but it didn’t mean he didn’t try. Still, after a day like this, even the most cheerful spirit would feel down.

Why? Why didn’t they understand? All this work he put into this feast that was meant for everyone, it wasn’t something that could be easily replaced. Even if they got food to replace it, it wouldn’t be the same! And what the hell was a pizza?

Lost in his thoughts, he finally snapped back to his senses when he heard a familiar voice calling him. Turning around, he saw Akatsuki running to him, carrying a plate filled with his secret recipe super salad (actually a normal Caesar salad, but he doesn’t know it). All sorts of emotions filled him.

She understood.

She caught him, she saved him. His baby. That girl uncovered the one survivor of this culinary holocaust for his sake. The salad he worked so hard to prepare… Trembling with emotions, he walked up to the girl and patted her head, barely holding back tears.

“Thank you.” He muttered with a serene voice, smiling thankfully from the depths of his heart. And so, he decided that from that day forward, that girl, that destroyer would be his kitchen assistant!

Vanguard

This city was quite the oddity, he had to admit. A melting pot of stories, merging into one. And it was growing, feeding constantly. Because of that, the land was quite rich and bountiful in magical energy. That was favorable, he would have it no other way. After all, this was the Valhalla he chose, the one place in existence where his scheme could work. But time was of the essence, altough it was plentiful. He too needed to lay the groundwork.

Incredible...

For a while now, he had been walking aimlessly around the city, searching trough this plane for sources of magical energy, vessels he could tap into. Plunging his hand into the land, he had found yet another convergence into the leylines. But it was still small, far too small. He needed power, more power. Without it, he would not be able to reach her.

Those leylines, they seemed to be leading somewhere, somewhere larger.

Vanguard kept on searching until he stumbled upon a forest. Feeling adventurous, he decided there would be no harm in exploring. Even if the leylines were not any greater than earlier, perhaps he could settle for a place to gather aether eventually. Either way, he walked forward for a while until he found himself before a girl resting against a tree.

Girl? Nay. Vanguard was not quite certain of it, but she had a different quality that set her apart from the common mundane. Her refined face and beautiful cloth gave her a sublime splendour that was a rare sight, even for him. Truth be told, her features were not unpleasant to look at. If this was a painting, he would compliment on the contrast she set to the lavishly green and white backdrop.

And who knows? Perhaps befriending her could be of benefit.

“My, fate is quite the fickle one to make me stumble on a beauty such as yourself. Good grief, would a woman like you happen to be lost?” He said, his deep voice echoing and lingering in the forest like a phantom clinging to the earth.

As the spirit medium waited she easily noticed the sound of something heavy crushing the foliage of the forest underfoot. A tinge of nervousness was both born and smothered in an instant as she waited to see what seemed to be a knight emerge from the forest. However, his appearance was an afterthought compared to the strength and size of his soul. While compared to her own it was nothing more than a puddle it still vastly outpaced that of the others she had seen so far.

A smile crossed her face at the compliments. It was more polite than her usual ones, lacking the smugness usually inherent in them. "I think that fate has been rather kind then, to allow me to be found by someone who fits my needs so well. I am Alma, a spirit medium, and I've been searching for a soul to unite with my own for a time. And your own seems to be so much more suitable than any I have encountered until now. Does such an arrangement sound suitable to you sir..."

Her lovely voice trailed off as she awaited some sort of name or alias for him to respond with.
