Nodding with pale cheer at her approval, he allowed his posture to loosen somewhat.

"Your advertisement mentioned as much, but it did not offer much detail," he said, holding his chin with a gloved hand. "My appearance may be frightening to children, but I am fond of them and like to earn their friendship. Though, if I may inquire, what of your son?"

Rin

"Honestly, I wouldn't think having a roommate was a good thing.  I like my privacy too much," Rin said as she walked into Joe's apartment.

She grinned before stepping inside.

Forest

"Blood jump starts the healing," Forest said. She would have waved her hand, but Marcus was pressing her against his chest.

She met his eyes and said, "So yes, I remember.  I remember that stupid bint and all of her superior power bullshit.  Besides, she just shouldn't be allowed to run around nilly willy like that.  Best thing I can do is report her to the Enforcers or Elites or whoever's hunting vampires this week.  Or rather, you report the bitch because they'll believe you over me."

Neptune

With the state of affairs as it now was finishing them off was an easy task. She moved an instant later, dodging the blow of the man who was standing and launching a strike of her own, only this time she made sure he wouldn't be coming back for more, with a crash his limp body hit the ground as the man's conciousness fled from him. "And that's one down!"

The purple haired goddess whistled as she turned around, an act that may seem innocent on the surface, but that was far from the truth. Behind the cheerful facade, hid a terryfing determination to win. And thus her attention was drawn to the man still struggling to get up. What happened next is too pitiful to describe with mere words.

"Yay and victory is mine, I told ya all so!" Neptune performed a victory dance alongside her boisterous claims.

Joe

The moment the couple passed through the doorway, they were met with a stair case.  As he started his ascension up the stairs, he said, "Well I could see that.  But unlike you, I don't have any magic to study, so it gets a bit lonely sometimes.  Plus, the crime rate around here is not the best.  The only reason I still stay here is because there is an police station a block away.  It makes me feel safe."

Marcus

Shit!  I shouldn't have let her drink my blood. he thought, despite meeting her gaze with an indifferent frown.

After letting out a sigh, he said, "Enforcers?  Is that what you call the cops here?  What are they going to do against someone like her?  And more importantly, why won't they believe you?"

Rin

Rin bit her lip from commenting about the best way to feel save was to make sure one could protect themselves, and not rely on unknown factors for protection.  That are a block away as well, Rin thought.

"How fast is the Enforcer response rate?" Rin asked.

Forest

"No, they have normal mundane bobbies that are underpaid and overwhelmed.  The Enforcers and Elites are like . . . supernatural police.  They're meant to deal with threats like that bint.  They also don't like me because I'm a meddling vampire," Forest answered with a scowl.

Huh she bites her lip a lot, he noted before giving her an uneasy smile.  "It depends," he said.  "The response rate can go from almost instant to 10 minutes, if the enforcers are called.  But in most cases, we use the police."

Marcus

Marcus finally released her hands.  "Yeah, I could see that," he said, leaning back on his hands and gazing at the ceiling.  Staring at that concrete ceiling made him frown along with the vampire.  "But i'm not going to report her.  I'd rather take her down myself.  I can't stand that she beat us so easily."

Rin

Rin nodded and said, "Well, that's . . . fairly decent."

She looked at him, smiled, and asked, "Well, aren't you going to show me around your apartment?"

Forest

"That's one thing I've learned to deal with in the Nexus," Forest said in a very dry voice as she looked up at the ceiling as well.  "Back where I came from I was kind of a big name.  Even had this silly title.  Here?  I'm either prosecuted or told to mind my bloody business or punished for trying to help people."

Joe

"Hey cmon, we have to get there first!" he said, grabbing hold of the doorknob that lead to his place.  The door to his room was on the second floor, so it only took the time of their quick exchange to get to his place.

"Welcome to my lovely home," he said, opening the door.

His apartment was pretty small, with only three rooms: a bathroom, a bedroom and a living room.  The door to the apartment lead into the living room, which was decorated with a couch, a gaming console and a TV.  If you walked through the living room past the couch, you would inevitably move through the kitchen which separated the living room from the short hallway that lead to the doors to the bathroom and bedroom.

Joe flashed Rin another clearly nervous smile.  "So, what do you think?"

Marcus

"Well i've been the bad guy for most of my life," he said, keeping his eyes on the ceiling.  "Its only recently ive tried this good guy stuff.  I can see how being thanked for saving people can get addicting, so I feel for you there.  But thats not what matters right?  The public is fickle, no matter what world you're in.  I just wish I could win a damned fight every once in a while."

He sat up straight and slammed his fist into the ground.  "WHY CAN'T I EVER WIN!?" he shouted.

Rin

"It actually kind of reminds me of my flat in London," Rin said with a smile, "Except I have a bigger kitchen, but then again I do a lot of cooking."

She looked around the rooms, not going for the bedroom, and nodded.  "I actually like it.  It's nice and . . . normal.  It fits you."

Forest

Forest blinked at Marcus's question and stared at him.

"What do you mean why can't you ever win?" she asked, tilting her head.  She didn't peek into his thoughts; not yet.

Joe

Joe tilted his head.  "Whats that supposed to mean?" he asked, sounding almost offended.

Marcus

Marcus's eyes widened at her question, as if he suddenly realized what he said.  "N-nothing.  Don't worry about it."

I'd lose my standing if she found out ive only ever won one fight, he thought to himself.  WAIT! SHIT! SHE CAN READ MINDS!

Irene

The lack of resistance to the blow forewarned her of his evasive manuevers before she felt the result of the followup, but her body protested at the strike to her tendons and muscles. Despite her attempt to make up for the difference between them, the outcome was natural. He was faster to begin with, perhaps faster than anything else she'd faced, and his weapon was far swifter than her improvised block of metal.

But his offensive power wasn't a threat so long as he didn't strike a weakpoint in her skull. Skin split and bones rattled where he struck her joints, but at her neck the sword was warded off by hardening hair which covered her skin.

Irene practically vaulted to her hands and spun from her hips, pushing him off with a sweeping kick reminiscent of capoeira. In the second immediately after, she rolled into a crouch facing the skeleton, pulling her platform to cover her. The blackened metal stood between them as a shield for only an instant before she threw it.

The broken down ventilation box flew at Lorenzo, daring him to avoid it. Would he rocket to the side, slide under, or vault over it straight at her? It was likely the latter, and equally likely that he knew she wanted just that.

Lorenzo

Hah! So her hair really was emerald, he hadn't fought such a tough cookie since, well, ever. Due to the recoil, his body flinched back and was wide open for her devastating kick, but in a surprising display of nimbleness he used the momentum to flip upside down over his hand and block her blow with his sword, thus protecting his precious smoked ribs at the cost of being blown away to the other side of the hall.

Flipping back and over, he grinned and gritted his burning teeth in anticipation, and as he landed on all fours he witnessed her impromptu weapon flying straight at him with monstrous strength.

Dodge? How? He could  move left, right, above or below, but she knew he could from the getgo. No, that vixen was planning something, he could feel her devious plot rattling through his bones. Swifter than ever, he thrust his palm and released a fireball of intense fire that exploded right into her box, shattering it into a bunch of melting pieces. Dust and smoke littered all over the place, but luckily the hole above gave enough for the flames to feed.

Casual as ever, he wiped the soot off his coat and gave the girl a honestly friendly laughter. "Woah, that was close. You're pretty good! Shame about your weapon though. Well, I never said I'd fight you fairly." His blade cut the air with a swift slash and the flames behind him parted, only for the wall of fire behind the woman to grow even thicker as it circled her frame, giving her but a 10 meter distance from the column of flame.

"Sooo, how does that drink sound about now?" He asked her like he expected a comeback of sorts.

Rin

Rin's eyes widened at Joe's response and she laughed, lifting her hands.  "I didn't mean it in a bad way!  Just you're very normal, you know.  So of course you'd live someplace normal."

And not the guest house at your sister's place, Rin thought ruefully.

If she moved away, Sakura would probably lose it and then that would villianize her even more in the eyes of her cadre of Servants and Emiya Shirou.

Forest

Forest smiled and hugged him.  "Marcus, I don't care about how many fights you've won or not," she said before letting him go.

Joe

Joe sighed and said, "I know, I know," he responded, his entire body loosing a bit of energy.  "But yeah, its a nice place all things considered.  Actually, I was wondering.  If you don't mind a place like this, why don't you move out?  Having some more distance from your sister might help your relationship."

Marcus

Marcus turned his head away.  "I bet its still a turn off though..." he mumbled under his breath.

The hug felt nice, comforting even.  I still want to win, he thought.

Rin

"Because if I did it would probably hurt Sakura," Rin answered as she looked away.

She sighed and said, "I would love to move away, put a little distance between us, but that would upset Sakura and . . . "

Forest

Forest chuckled and rubbed Marcus's back.  She answered, "It's not a turn off."  She kissed his cheek as she heard his thought.

"Maybe I could help you win."

"Indeed, he was about to completely destroy you had I not pulled you away from him." It was the truth and the blonde vampire saw no reason to sugarcoat it or hide it from him. He most likely suffered from short term memory less after going into rage like that, it would explain the question.

Then her keen ears picked up on the tall warrior moving behind them, she turned her head around to observe. What she saw was strange even to her. Is he devouring her soul? Ron was no going to like this, maybe, they were having a massive argument or so she thought when she had shown up.

Then he started running that accursed mouth, sounding like a complete madman as he spoke of his own eternal suffering or something, frankly the vampire had stopped caring about what he was saying. A frown settled on her face, she merely needed a single look to tell he was even more broken than her.

"Shut your mouth or I will end you where you stand. I have no more patience for your pitiful self-justifications, they are simply disgusting to listen to much like the sight of you." She didn't let go of the werewolf as her scathing remarks honed in on their enemy.
