Discussion thread for Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA, both the anime and the manga. Out of courtesy, please refrain to mention spoilers regarding things that haven't been aired yet (which means, what the anime hasn't covered so far, 2wei and 3rei). But feel free to do so under spoiler tags

The anime's keeping me interested so far- it's really pretty to look at, the fanservice has been really minimal, and the characters have been fun. Probably the only complaint I have is that the pacing is a bit slow at this point, but it was like that in the manga as well, so it's just a small thing.

I hope if they adapt 2wei they keep the fanservice to a minimum like they are with the first parts, as while it kept me hooked the whole way through, I really didn't like the fanservice bits. But I think that that'll be interesting too once it gets adapted.

As for the manga, I like it for the most part. The only part I really wish would be different is the fanservice, but other than that, it's a very interesting read.

Back to the anime though, I'm loving that I get to see Luvia animated for the first time, and I'm loving the holy living hell outta Ruby thus far. So yeah, it has my endorsement. The fanservice is really minimal thus far and it's fun, so I recommend giving it a watch. I recommend the manga as well, but the fanservice is worse there, so especially in 2wei, just a bit of a warning there. Still, it's fun, fanservice aside.

. . . I tried watching it, and while Ruby is entertaining, and more Rin is always a good thing, not to mention Luvia . . . I couldn't get hooked.

Not to mention no manly men.

Yeah, I can see that- even if it has it's good points, it also kinda requires that you don't mind things going reeeaaaallly slow in terms of getting to the action stuff. ^_^" So while it's definitely worth a watch, it's certainly not for everyone. ....Plus the lack of manly men is indeed depressing.

I would still watch the most recent episode if I were you, though (Episode... 5 I believe?).

Rin and Luvia get Ruby and Sapphire back for that episode. Huge fight between them and Alter ensues.

Okay, I have to rant about this, I mean, really really rant.

We finally get a good Archer VS Saber battle and guess what?

It's Ilya channeling her Onii-chan and Primal Essence of Saber battling it out in a magic girl show.  The fight was awesome, there was a neat remix of EMIYA playing, and all I kept thinking was, "Why couldn't this be real Saber and Archer actually fighting?"

Goddamn it.

This show is a fucking troll.

Also, if she was really channeling Emiya, her eyes should have gone gray, and not that weird orange.

Honestly, what gets me more is what they put in the episode after that one (since you're ranting, I may as well rant a bit too ). I was so happy for the show not letting the creepy fanservice bits not get in there for the most part, and then come episode 7, they include the maid dressup scene with Illya and Miyu. That's exactly the type of thing I didn't want from this show. I honestly forgot that scene happened in the manga until that episode reminded me.

I still recommend watching it, but the fact that they let the lolicon pander-y stuff still slip through the cracks like this is really depressing to me. Especially after the epic fight scene (I too am sad that Archer hasn't gotten enough proper anime love yet, but this honestly upsets me far more. ....Though getting more Aacha love on that front would be nice ^_^").

It's nice that they're staying so faithful to the original source material, but this is honestly one thing I think could have gone on the cutting room floor in favor of something more meaningful. There's too much lolicon pandering and sexualization of little girls going around this year as it is, we don't need the Prisma anime adding to the pile.

It doesn't really surprise me that they would keep at least some of the lolicon pandering. The whole story is lolicon pandering to some extent.

Yeah, I understand that part.

The problem here is that this scene in particular is too much even for this. It has a little girl molesting and almost to the point of rapeing another little girl for the sole reason that the girl being victimized here is wearing a maid outfit. And it's presented as cute and funny. Which is a big no.

It goes too far for even lolicon pandering, and that's my issue with it. Even worse is that it somehow made it's way into the anime, which until now was doing a good job keeping pander-y stuff out for the most part.

Honestly, I have little interest in it to begin with, due to the fact that Sakura has been entirely sidelined, so I can't really comment.

Well, even if I wasn't interested in the show, I'd find that horrible. For me it's more a matter of moral principle than the feeling of "betrayal" that one would get after having something like that happen on the show.

Well Sakura as well as any real sense of internal logic is not really present in the manga, so it makes sense that the anime adaptation is sub par at best since the manga is no great feat

Eh, it's definitely still a watchable show, it's just one nasty moment that managed to slip in. For anyone that's more squeamish like I am about moments like that, probably just skipping the episode or just skipping that part of the episode once it reaches that point should serve you just fine. If I remember right, that's the only moment like that in the first manga before 2wei.

I've seen the magic girl thing done better and with less loli type fan service so I'm not really interested
