Shirou Quest
Story written by Xamusel

A/N: Alright... because I forgot where I was going with the original attempt, I decided to start this over from the beginning, hopefully without making things go down the crapper. Now, before anyone asks, this will have erotic content involved eventually (I've been practicing ever since the one time I wrote an erotica one-shot recently, Elf, though I'd like it if you could please look over the erotica beforehand). In any case, I should have it clean of kinks (unless I get to a point where a kink is supposed to happen, in which case I'll need to really have Elf look over the scene before I write the stupid scene).

Now, anyway, there's a good reason for the tag in the title. I've half a mind to write this as if it were you guys playing a Tabletop RPG, but, as I don't want to confuse you intentionally, I'll be writing the fight scenes as they happen (dice roll by dice roll), while making sure you all figure out how the "game" goes. In any case, I'll be writing this under the assumption that you guys don't know the rules, so that you can follow along with rules decisions that I make.

Oh, wait, do you want to know what this will be crossed over with? Sorry... that's up to you guys to determine. However, just because it's a crossover, it doesn't mean that it is strictly a crossover pairing.

On a final note, each chapter will be a minimum of ten story posts long, starting with the one four story posts after the next physical post (the Table of Contents being this one). A story post, mind you, is a post that I label as a continuation of the story (based on a branching choice). The first four story posts will be the prologue... and the last six story posts will be the epilogue.

Anyway... LIGHTS!! CAMERA!! ACTION!!

Table of Contents:

Prologue:
Story Post 1
Story Post 2
Story Post 3
Story Post 4

Prologue: Home is where the heart is

Story Post 1

It was a time of great chaos in Fuyuki City, especially as I saw it happen with my own two eyes, the eyes that saw and can’t unsee the truth of what was going on. My reason for saying that has a lot to do with why I started falling asleep in class a lot more often than before… which, ironically, is going to get me in trouble if I don’t wake up in—

“KAGAMIYA-SAN!!” my mathematics teacher yelled at me from across the room, startling me into waking. “Perhaps, if you’re so bored by the lecture, you could give the correct answer to the question on the board?”

…oh, poopy. He knows I hate math class the most out of my classwork. Still, with a sigh like that of someone awaiting execution, I stand up and look at the board for a second before answering, “The answer is 18, Yamaro-sensei.”

Indeed, the question on the board was written as a means of testing whether or not we knew how to properly add any of the first 10 whole numbers together in some fashion, and, so far, it seems we've only just gotten to the answer being 18. Still, I’m suddenly really glad that I paid attention to my mom’s attempts to homeschool me, given how far behind I might have been otherwise.

Yamaro-sensei blinked at the correct answer, before he sighed, for a reason I am not privy to because I lack the ability to read minds. “Alright, Kagamiya-san, I can tell that this isn’t exactly you at your best,” he said in a good-natured way. “Still, please stay awake so that you won’t miss Kendo club. You are interested in being the best modern swordsman, right?”

While everyone else snickered at my expense, I held myself up with pride, knowing that I’d be better than most other swordsmen in the modern era. After all, I practiced in fields of study to help improve my swordsmanship, like Reinforcement and Elemental spell abilities.

…okay, yes, I’m a Magus. It’s just that my dad never gave me the family Thaumaturgical Crest of the Kagamiya, mainly because I was the middle child, not the heir to the Kagamiya family Magecraft associated with the use of the Chinese Elemental system. That would be my big brother, Takuya, who’s currently studying Magecraft at the Japanese Mages’ Association in Kyoto.

While my old man never gave me the Kagamiya Crest, it didn’t mean that I never had access to a Crest, just not the one my dad would have given me if I were born as the heir. My mom gave me her family’s Crest, which was affected by an as yet unheard of sorcery trait her birth family had been blessed with, or so she says. Nobody in her blood family, the Eddistones from Colorado Springs, knows how it happened to begin with… however, what is known is that mom’s Crest has been given the trait of near-perfect duplication and perfect recreation of said duplicates.

…how does that work, one might ask? Well, it’s like this. Mom, as heir of the Eddistones, had been blessed with 25 natural Magic Circuits of extremely high quality, 10 of which she’ll be keeping for self-defense purposes… and that’s not going into detail on the Eddistone Thaumaturgical Crest having 105 extremely high quality Magic Circuits. Still, with each passing generation, the Crest will be cut down by two Magic Circuits for each duplication made… all the way until the Crest from before my generation runs out of Circuits to cut down.

“Alright, class, settle down,” Yamaro-sensei said, interrupting my train of thought. “Kagamiya-san, please sit down.”

With a sigh, I sat back down in my seat. This seemed to be the start of a new adventure in my life… right?

***

*THWACK!!*

I fell to the ground in a heap when I was hit by the shinai my instructor had in her hands. That was probably the 19th time today that this happened… and my instructor was probably frowning behind her face guard.

“Kagamiya-han, this isn’t getting us anywhere,” my instructor said with a defeated sigh. Helping me up off the ground, she asked me, “What’s impeding you, anyway? I can tell when something is impeding you, but I don’t know what the specifics are… I’d like it if you could tell me.”

I blinked upon hearing that. Personally, I never thought I was that transparent, but… I guess I am transparent. I wonder what I should do… on the one hand, if my instructor is involved in the Moonlit World, I could tell her the truth. However… what if she was out of the loop? I would need to throw a seemingly innocent question out… one that could answer the problem for me.

Before I could think of anything to say, however, my instructor sighed as she walked over to the benches… surprisingly enough, we were the only ones here today, and I have no idea why. Did everyone else call in sick?

“Come to the benches with me, Kagamiya-han,” she called out to me. “I have something I need to show you.”

Blinking, I followed her to the benches, making it to where she was. When I got within a meter away from her, she turned to me and handed me a pencil and a couple sheets of paper, filled with some design that would probably be seen on a tabletop RPG… which, now that I think of it, sounds about right for the situation.

“Now… I want you to fill in some details on these sheets of paper, Kagamiya-han,” my instructor said in a tone of finality. “Everything else will be filled in on its own.”

Huh? What did she just say?

“Um, Aihara-sensei, what details do I need to fill in?” I asked, deciding not to voice my other question.

“Oh, just your name, alignment, and so on at the top right corner,” Aihara-sensei said. “So… what will you do?”

After a few moments of deliberation, I decided to fill in the sheet where required, namely as followed:

Character Name: Kagamiya Shirou

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Race: Human

Size: Medium

Gender: Male

Hair: Red

Eyes: Copper

Everything else was voided at that part of the sheet, so that was all I could fill in, unsurprisingly. Before I could hand the papers back to Aihara-sensei… the sheets filled themselves in, just like she said would happen!

Apart from what I already filled in, the sheet read like this:

Character Level: Fighter 1

Age: 7

STR: Ability Score: 14 Ability Modifier: +2 Age Effects: 11; +0

DEX: Ability Score: 16 Ability Modifier: +3 Age Effects: 15; +2

CHA: Ability Score: 13 Ability Modifier: +1 Age Effects: 12; +1

HP: Full adult: 12 Child: 11

Initiative: Adult total: 3 = DEX Modifier: 3 Child Total: 2 = DEX Modifier: 2

AC: Adult total: 13 = 10 + DEX Modifier: 3 + Size Modifier: 0 Child total: 12 = 10 + DEX Modifier: 2 + Size Modifier: 0

CMB: Adult Total: 3 = Base Attack Bonus: 1 + Strength Modifier: 2 + Size Modifier: 0 Child Total: 2 = Base Attack Bonus: 1 + Strength Modifier: 1 + Size Modifier: 0

CMD: Adult Total: 16 = Base Attack Bonus: 1 + Strength Modifier: 2 + Dexterity Modifier: 3 + Size Modifier: 0 + 10 Child Total: 14 = Base Attack Bonus: 1 + Strength Modifier: 1 + Dexterity Modifier: 2 + Size Modifier: 0

Weapon 1: Kanshou and Bakuya (twin dao) Attack Bonus: 1 Critical: 18-20/x2 Type: Slashing Damage: 2d8 Notes: Noble Phantasm

Money: 280 gp

…well, that was certainly something. Apparently, I had a heck of a lot of abilities that I trained myself in over the years, and a fair bit of training that went a long way in this level of development.

…wait. How come I can understand the sheet’s stats?

Actually… there’s one thing I don’t understand.

“What’s gp supposed to mean?” I asked curiously.

“How many gold coins, each weighing a third of an ounce, you have, Kagamiya-han,” Aihara-sensei answered with a straight face. She then blinked. “Wait, that’s all you have to ask about this?” she asked me, disbelief in her tone.

“At present? Yes,” I replied. “I figured you were a Magus the moment I was about to return the character sheets… is this a Mystic Code of yours?”

With a sigh, Aihara-sensei said, “Actually, the sheets came from my elder sister… she’s the heir of the Aihara family, after all.”

I winced at the part where Aihara-sensei wasn’t the heir. My family was atypical in that regard, fortunately, but it seemed sensei had some troubles in that regard.

“Keep the sheets, Kagamiya-han,” sensei told me, causing me to start. Laughing at my reaction, she said, “I’m incapable of using the sheets against you, anyway, so you might as well hold onto them. I’ve got more where that pair came from, after all, so I’m not missing anything.” Upon taking a look at the time, she gasped. “Oh, no! The session’s over for today and nobody else showed up!” she exclaimed.

As I saw her go into hysterics, I quickly excused myself, making sure to get back into my clothes as soon as possible. As soon as I got my clothes on—

*CLINK!!*

—what the heck? Where’d this money pouch come from?

…could it be possible that I was gifted all 280 gold coins that were on my sheet?

***

As soon as I stepped out of the school building, I remembered something my mom had told me to do. She had told me to make a friend with someone, and to treasure them for life. With that in mind… who can I make a friend with?

As I scan the school grounds around me, I notice a pair of girls, one who seems to be a year younger than me with purple hair and soulless purple eyes, and the other who seems to be my age with dark brown hair and aquamarine eyes, walking some distance apart from each other and towards the school gate. It seems like one of the two girls was meant to be my friend… but who?

Well, based on the fact that I need a good first impression for either girl, I——

  • I go meet with the purple haired girl
  • I go meet with the brunette girl

***

After I got done with making my first friend, I walked on home, making sure to take the quickest route from the playground. As I passed a rather old abandoned warehouse—

*SCREEEEEEEEEECH!!*

—what in the world? What’s going on in the old abandoned warehouse?

If you want to proceed, please come back here by the stroke of midnight…

…what? Am I being paranoid or something? Or is there something to do in the warehouse at midnight?

Well, regardless, I——

  • I ignore the feeling and return home to rest until the next school day
  • I go with my gut feeling and sneak out of my house before midnight

____

I'll post in the thread shortly and say that I managed to get this done properly. Sorry for the huge delay in revising this post... other stories got in the way.

In any case, I should have it clean of kinks

Aww....

Anyway, hmm, are the other canon characters going to show up here? So far it only seems to be Shirou (and he seems to be somewhat AU).

As for the choice, I'm not actually sure which to pick here. I have no idea who this guy who is asking us to write our name is, or why he's doing so. Part of me thinks that it seems harmless enough, so he should just do it, but the other part thinks I shouldn't do anything just because I'm told to, and therefore that Shirou should refuse without further explanation.

Sorry, Cherry, but I don't trust myself to write kinks properly... at least not yet.

Well... depending on how you play the choices out in the prologue, the other canon characters will show up, but it might be that they're the Tsuki canon characters or some other canon characters in the Nasuverse.

I'll explain what I mean by the choice over Skype, if you'd prefer, or over PM.

Ah, I see....

Well, I suspect the porn is unlikely to be of much interest to me, then, honestly.

Regarding the porn... I'm gonna have to work on it for now.

Anyway, yes, I know you'd obviously like Sakura and friends to show up... I'll definitely keep that in mind for how it plays out.

Also... sorry for the lack of quality in the post with the choice. I'll go back and fill in more details before it goes down to the new choices.

Sorry, not yet, but only because I had been forced to work on other things at present. I'll get right back to it this second.

OK, well, for the first vote I pick option 1, the purple-haired girl. For the second vote, I need to actually read it properly first....
