Ash nodded and said, "Or whatever.  I mean, becoming a vampire doesn't mean your instantly wealthy.  You gotta build up to that."

She clapped her hands together and said, "But beyond that.  We need to go hire a whore to donate a pint at least, or you're not going to be able to function soon."

"Uh, I know that myself, this thirst is getting annoying" she stated, feeling instinctively that without going blood for long would be a bad thing. At this point she did not care about feeding on women, she needed her blood fix. Soon.

"This building is any of eight different points in the city simultaneously."

Minato finished the last of his tea and set his cup down; Then proceeded to stand before reaching into his jacket, pulling out a book that was clearly too large to fit in any jacket pocket.

"This is a guidebook a now very rich man wrote for people who land in this city, it has all the basic information on the city, comes with a faction map, and has survival tips for those who intend to do anything but hide in a basement."

The cover of the book Minato set in front of Jojo had no author's name printed, only the name of the book and a simple phrase that likely made up the best survival tip in the entire book.

DON'T PANIC
Traveler's Guide to The Nexus.

"Read the first two chapters, that should get you up to speed."

Minato proceeded to the door.

"As I was saying before, the dorm exists in various places but becomes fixed to one point momentarily when people attempt to enter or exit."

Minato placed his hand on the doorknob.

"The question now is what part of the city do you want to get to?"

"Hide in a basement? I'm as much a warrior as a scientist" JoJo grumbled at the suggestion  JoJo grumbled at the suggestion. He made to skim through the guide regardless, but at noticing the mention of vampires, he perked up and couldn't help but interjecting. "Vampires? To think they are even in this world. Okay, young man, spirit me away some near their district, a hunter is needed even in this world. Time to follow my grandfather's footsteps!"

Karna moved through the sewers at a steady walking pace, bugs and insects and gods-know-what-else clad the walls of the disgusting sewers. His eyes were not affected by the non-existent lightning, but sadly he couldn't do much about the smell.

It did not take him long to find the chamber that the Magus had promised to meet with him, lead there by the spell of prana on the air.

Before him stood the blue-haired Magus who's familiars surveyed the city. He looked somewhat frightened, perhaps having perceived Karna's threat a bit too seriously.

"I apologize for the wait, Magus, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart that you would compromise your safety to take to heart my request. You show great courage for merely appearing. Such a feeling brings me joy."

Karna was entirely genuine in his words, for he could never lie. The fact that a Magus who would not even meet go into the city by himself to scout around would come face to face with a being like himself was a feat of great courage, and Karna felt the need to praise him accordingly.

Despite his resignation Zolgen refused to let fear dictate his actions. He shall act with the pride and confidence that one with his experience and skill should.

"I am afraid I cannot say I feel the same joy as you," Zolgen walked forward, his insects remaining behind. "You wish to know what my insects where doing correct? I am merely observing the elements of this city. There are many dangers, many powerful entities and groups that should not be in the same place at the same time." He stopped only a few steps away from Karna.

Looking directly at the fabled saint of generosity he continued speaking. "All I simply want is to observe. Maybe find something that can interest these old bones. Or perhaps, if the situation arises, stop this powder keg from exploding."

"Are my reasons enough to satisfy you?" He concluded. His words held no falsehoods, Zolgen was one who understands that despite being a man drenched in deceit there is a time for truth. When one of the greatest Heroic Spirits known to human history stands in front of you demanding an answer such not a time to lie.

"So you observe phenomena simply for the sake of it? Ridiculous. You would not live as long as you have if you simply looked on for the sake of looking. Humans do not live merely to live, Magus. They live to feel joy, take pleasure in things and overcome great burdens. You desire all three of those, Magus, you do simply not speak of those desires."

Karna did not care for lies. The barriers of the human mind to protect itself. Such walls did not exist to his eyes. Every person with a human mind Karna looked upon had all of their mind bared and their lies exposed.

For that reason, Karna could see the noble intentions that this Magus, whom his eyes applied the name "Zolgen" to as he looked through his mind.

"No, you have a desire far greater than those of petty curiosity. Tell me, Zolgen, and be honest with yourself. What do you truly desire to find the means for in your search of this curious city?"

If Zolgen truly showed the ability to be honest with his desires in the face of a being so superior to himself, he deserved reconciliation. Reconciliation that Karna would gladly give him.

"No, you have a desire far greater than those of petty curiosity. Tell me, Zolgen, and be honest with yourself. What do you truly desire to find the means for in your search of this curious city?"

Zolgen looked at the man in front of him. Perhaps once he did have a greater desire. Perhaps when he was young he wished to create a utopia for human to thrive. This man in front of him could apparently see such a thing. The dream he once had, Karna still saw within him.

Zolgen sighed, “Tell me Karna, do not all humans have dreams that are beyond them? Beyond humanity? Beyond possibility?”

He looked up at the ceiling reminiscing. “I am no exception to that.”

He remembered, he helped create and worked to obtain the grail at first to create a utopia, and then after Justica became the core of the system he dedicated himself to obtaining it, not only to just achieve his dream but also to allow her dream of having the Heaven’s Feel be completed once again.

“I once dreamed of creating a Utopia, a place where the beauty of humanity could flourish in peace, where all could be happy.” Closing his eyes he continued, “I helped develop the means to do so, a powerful ritual, but there were unintended results. It became a bloody conflict between me and my comrades, we fought, trying to end one another, all having different intentions for the ritual.”

“By the fourth attempt to complete the ritual it had been corrupted by All the Evils of the World, Angra Mainyu. And so I lost hope in my dream and worked to stop its reincarnation, too prevent the extinction of humanity. I was successful in the fifth, and with it lost all chance to achieve my dream.”

Zolgen once again looked at the man in front of him, “So perhaps what you say is true, perhaps on some level I am trying to find a way to achieve my goal in this city, hoping I will find someone or something that has the power to help me achieve it. But even if that is the case, hope in my dream as long since faded.”

Karna was touched, he truly was. The man's story was one of tragedy, much like his own. The establishment of a human utopia to honor a dead loved one was indeed the goal Karna saw at the bottom of the Magus's mind, his deepest desire. It was an honesty that Karna could admire, and a wish he could empathize with. His own friend Duryodhana had wanted to rule all of humanity as a fair and just king, the closest to a Utopia that could be realized at the time, and had succeeded until the great Pandavas toppled his rule.

For that reason, both his similar goal to his friend and his honesty, Karna would reward the Magus.

"A thousand thanks for being honest to me, O Magus, and my most sincere apologies for threatening you earlier. You have proven yourself worthy of the praise of ages. For that reason I desire to reward your earnesty. I will give or do for you any one thing, so long as you are honest in your desire for it. For showing, me such great determination, you deserve at the very least that."

"The question now is what part of the city do you want to get to?"

Tokiomi was shocked. “Wow, that is, well, really impressive. How do you maintain the spatial boundaries and solve the issue of dimensional quakes due to continual spatial rending?”

Tokiomi though for a second before shaking his head, he had a familiar check the trap, it was a bug of some kind. He frowned; he has been seeing similar bugs around town, he will have to run some tests.

Still had to go home, disperse the ice and reset the trap. On top of that he still has not had the chance to go shopping; he requires some materials for his next planned experiment on the sword. There was a small shopping area with the needed stores near his workshop. He should probably come out there.

“Nevermind, don’t need to think about that right now, sorry. I need to head to the stopping district near the harbor. Do you have a doorway to there?” Tokiomi pauses a second before realizing something

“Oh wait a sec.” Tokiomi walked back to Minato and handed him a gem, “Here this will let us get in touch, hold it up to your forehead and charge it with prana, will connect you to mine.” He held up another gem, an almost exact copy.

He smiled at his new acquaintance, “Thanks for the tea and help with those werewolves, I owe you one.”

"No good. That's no good at all, Mister Twitching Eyebrows. You should go and meet new people."

"W-What?"

The Golden King was taken aback by the Ancestor's sheer level of disrespect. Even Gilgamesh knew his limits, as high as they may be, and a fight with a True Ancestor would not necessarily end in his favor. Even so, the casual disrespect that she had shown him was something completely new. He was not used to people addressing him in such a manner - usually they fled in terror or bent down in obedience.

"This city is pretty big. Surely you can find find people to get along with. Or maybe you're antisocial?" She considered him for a second. "Hm, indeed you look the part. Even your clothing sense is all wrong. Guess I'll have to help you." She sighed dramatically. "I intended to go back early to watch some new movies but now I can't leave and simply ignore a sad and lonely puppy like you."

The King of Heroes was completely struck dumb. He gaped at the blond haired woman, his regal manner and bearing temporarily pushed aside. Even as the Phoenix flew joyfully around their heads, Gilgamesh was utterly confused.

"I hereby declare Operation One Thousand Friends start now!!"

He couldn't take it anymore. With that declaration, the Original Hero began to laugh, his previous irritation faded like it had never been. Shaking his head in mirth, Gilgamesh looked at the Ancestor in amusement.

"You are not what I had expected from an Ancestor, certainly."

With a breath, Gilgamesh composed himself, his kingly disposition completely restored.

"I must disappoint you - I have only one friend. Only one man is my equal, and throughout all of time this will never change," He noted the sunbird's antics with some amusement, watching as it soared around the tower, spreading its' feathers far and wide across the city in a blaze of flame.

"What of you, Ancestor?"

The driver's gurgling chuckles echoed in Lawrences mind as he rolled down the window. "...Against my fervent desire to get away from here as fast as I can, sure."

Law shoved the .45 into a coat pocket of his, motioning with his head to the passenger side seat. "Put the sword in the back, should fit, at an angle. Try not to scratch the leather, please, this day has been bad enough already."

Hakumen's massive hand reached down and carefully opened the car door.

"Very well."

Carefully sliding his giant sword into the backseat, the warrior gently lowered himself into a car. His giant body somehow managed to fit inside the door frame - to anyone with half a sense of humor, it would have looked comical. The white giant was scrunched up in the passenger seat of the muscle car, somehow managing to fit even though part of his shoulder stuck out of the open window and his long, silver hair took up most of the backseat.

Even though his blade now rested in the backseat, the way the giant had laid it made it such that the sword poked out into the front are of the car, its' handle conveniently close to Hakumen's hands. The warrior slowly turned his head to stare at Law once more, his completely blank looking dispassionately at the driver. For a moment, it almost seemed like one of the crimson eyes on his shoulder piece had blinked.

"Drive."

*******

"Greetings. My name is Grigori. Would anyone here be willing to name themselves?"

"No."

The resident shut down the woman as soon as she appeared, his back turned. He could feel the energy radiating from her, and it took some considerable willpower to suppress his initial reaction to kill her. It didn't matter much to him, in the end. The resident had turned his back to the rest of the group, and was contemplating simply going back inside the bookstore when a gigantic metal bird crash-landed out of nowhere, picked the woman up, and promptly crushed her into the pavement.

Even for someone as apathetic as him, the suddenness of the events was enough to startle the resident. Leaping back so fast his form blurred once more, the red-haired man landed next to a lamppost in a crouch, tracking the proceedings with his eyes. Just seeing the woman in action made him irritated - her battle with the mechanical bird invoked instincts that the resident repressed. Attacking here was pointless-

"That was rather exciting! Although it seems I have failed to answer your original question, Henry. I am here in search of some entertainment. The nights can be so boring sometimes, however it seems like there are still things that can surprise even me. I haven't been ambushed like that for ages."

The red-head's eyebrow twitched.

The next instant happened too fast for even a supernatural eye to see. In a rending of metal, the resident had ripped the lamppost he was crouched next to straight from the ground and thrown it at the woman like a spear.

Yukina, hearing that he can also be called for help if they needed anything, then came running towards him to chase him and yelled, "But we do not know how where we could find you! Please do tell us!"
"Damn it, I don't know where you'll find me. But if some shit's going down, odds are you won't have to look too far," he said before turning away one final time and mumbling. "Trouble has its way of finding ways of dragging me in, after all."

He kept an only somewhat steady pace, punctuated by small, manageable amounts of dizziness; nothing that could stop him outright.

In a rending of metal, the resident had ripped the lamppost he was crouched next to straight from the ground and thrown it at the woman like a spear.

Grigori almost had time to speak to the woman before an enormous piece of metal impaled her.

"Again? Twice in one day?"

She tried to speak more, but she coughed up more blood instead. Grigori narrowed her eyes, and began to twitch violently. Then she stopped moving, and seemed to be incredibly calm. Even her outrage at being impaled seem to disappear. Then she turned around to face her attacker. It was the man with golden eyes.

"I am done playing."

Her voice was incredibly calm, and she didn't even seem hurt when she had the lamppost pull itself out of her chest. Another flash of curative magic closed the wound. The metal pole was dropped onto the ground. Then she began to actually pull on her reserves of mana. This was not like any magic she had performed today. This was a summoning. Grigori raised a single hand, and a red circle began to form on it.

"I open this gate of my own free will."

Then impossibly hot fires burst from her hand and sat in front of her. This was no normal fire. Even the most mundane human being would be able to sense the wrongness it radiated. It wanted to consume. It wanted to spread. It wanted to burn away all of creation. If you looked close enough you could even see the faces in the flames. Grigori didn't summon fire. She had summoned a six fire elementals. One of the most volatile and dangerous elemental beings obeyed her will, and she even managed to stop them from spreading. Grigori only had one command.

"Kill the one with golden eyes."

Then the elementals moved. Three raced across the ground at incredible speeds towards the man, and the other three flew into the air and launched themselves  directly at him.

"Forest, can you ask him why he attacked Grigori?"

Forest held up her hand to the doctor-who-wasn't-quite-human.  The Iron Bird Man had calmed down, his eyes focusing on Forest as he relaxed.  She took a deep, unneeded breath and said, "I will, but right now I need him calm.  Getting to inquisitive is going to upset him.

Since she had the thing's attention she took another step forward, a hand reaching towards it.  "Easy there," she said in a soft voice.  Her voice was already naturally husky so she knew this part wouldn't be too hard.  "There you are, pretty bird. Don't flash yourself."

Then she did something that was either very brave, or very foolish.  She reached out and petted the thing's beak.  All she felt under her palm was cold metal.  She wondered if her gesture would even reach the poor Iron Bird Man.

"And maybe ask his name?"

The blond nodded and sent to Iron Bird Man, I'm Forest.  What's your name?

Then, all hell broke loose.  Grumpy Redhead threw a lamp post at Grigori, injuring her again.  Then she opened some portal from behind the sofa in hell and brought sentient fire elementals into play.  Elementals she used to sic on Grumpy Redhead with an over dramatic command of, "Kill the one with golden eyes."

Forest gritted her teeth.  She needed to keep the Iron Bird Man calm, but Grigori was dangerous.  Very, very dangerous.  She knew both Wynn and Gabriel were in the city, but either one could be indisposed at the moment.

So she strengthened her thoughts and sent them towards the witch with incredible force.  STOP THIS SODDING NONSENSE!

******

Gabriel arched his eyebrows as La Folia rubbed her pleasantly lush rear against his aching length.  He resisted the urge to laugh; after all that would have insulted her.  However he was amused at the thought of someone trying to make him lose control this early in the game.  Still, it warmed his heart to see that La Folia wasn't completely cowed.

Even though he could see the shine of her lust on her supple thighs as she spun away from him.  "Oh, but do you think you can wait that long, Gabe-ri-el?" She rubbed against him again, before darting forward, slipping through his grasp.

"Damn it," he said softly before moving forward and catching her hand.  The smile was gone from his face and he said, "La Folia, I was not kidding when I said do not let go of me.  If you lose me here, you could be lost in here forever.  Or if my mother found you, but I wouldn't count on Mommy Dearest for a rescue.  This is a Tween Place, and those with more guile and power than you have been lost forever here."

******

"Come on then, let's go to No Man's Land," Ash said with a smirk.

Even though the place wasn't hospitable for most mortals, it did have its good share of blood whores under one Mr. Deacon Frost.

"I... apologize. I was not aware how this "corridor" works. I have never seen or heard of such a thing before." La Folia was no stranger to the supernatural, having even combated it herself at times since a very young age, but this was quite foreign to her.

Taking his hand in a firmer grip, La Folia's eyes looked downwards as she rested her head on his broad chest.

"I, erm, am sorry for "killing the mood", as they say." She felt a tinge of guilt over giving Gabriel such a scare.

Gabriel blinked then smiled as La Folia held his hand tightly and rested her head on his chest.

Fae, and he was not exempt to this, adored contact.  In some ways, he would prefer cuddling with someone he cared about than anonymous sex.  The fact that La Folia was resting against him spoke volumes of her personality.  She liked to touch and be touched, as if she was part Fae herself.

Or maybe just starved for affection, he realized as he kissed the crown of her head.

Then he smiled and said, "Nothing to apologize for.  I'm sure I can revive the mood when we get to my 'lair'."  Then he winked and said, "I should have warned you though.  Only two people here can open and close doorways to this place.  I'm one of them, the other is my Mommy Dearest."

He stroked her hair with his free hand and said, "And, after we've been . . . sated, I'd be more than happy to explain how it works."

"Truly? I'd be glad to know. You should, however, know that I am still quite a while from satisfaction", returning his wink with her tongue poking playfully out of her mouth.

Despite her words demanding immediate sexual contact, she enjoyed simply resting in his muscular chest. Gabriel had a wonderful odor to him that she couldn't quite place, but couldn't quite get enough of either.
