Fate

Fate gulped down the coffee currently in his mouth and laid down his mug to explain with a wry expression on his face.

"Your superhuman abilities, skill, and unique powers are of great interest to me. You use church sacraments, do you not? There are similar things in my world."

Reaching down into a shelf, Fate retrieved a cache of papers in a non-descript cover and sat down in his chair across from Shiro before continuing. "I have seen evidence of your monstrous fighting potential. It would be extremely beneficial to me to acquire such a talent. To put it simply, I want your strength."

The mage's firm gaze bore into the other man while he opened the cover in his hands and took several pages that were straightened and pushed towards the opposite side of the table. Plain for Shiro to see were basic overviews of operations to cull the vampire gangs territory and No Man's Land of the large numbers of supernaturals with ill intentions and actions for the population.

"There is too much unguided ability in this town that could do more, make a real difference, and alter the status quo for the better. Wasted power is an affront for all those who work and hope to change things like I do. Hence, this." he paused for a moment, before continuing. "I wish to assemble a team of special fighters to aid me in my endeavors. I wanted to speak with you to formally invite you to this group."

He allowed what he said to sink in and took his drink back to his lips for a short sip.

"Naturally, I will compensate and reward you for your aid. You run a small orphanage in No Man's Land, if I'm not mistaken. I could offer you much better conditions to continue your work there, provide additional security, and give any sort of financial aid you desire or anything that I can personally achieve."

Mordred

Mordred saw through the Beast's intent and she would have none of that. As Behemoth jumped towards her, she dived down herself, dealing as strong hit as she could without activating Clarent Blood Arthur, and slammed it to the ground.

The Behemoth's arms gave out as the knight came down at a speed faster than expected and slammed her sword into it's upraised and absurdly large talons, almost cracking them as the beast was thrown to the ground.

As the knight stood triumphant however, one of it's massive talons sweeped her legs from under her as it took footing, and brought down the other handful of claws upon her form on the ground...

Mille just nodded, completely ignoring the implications that Amy was making.

Rin however did notice, but didn't bother to comment. She just hoped Mille wouldn't do something drastic if Amy tried anything.

Then it hit her. If Mille was staying with the other two, that meant.... She turned to look at Lancer, who she was certain was as happy as a dancing clam.

I-I'm a Tohsaka. Elegance is our family mantra! I-I won't let a situation like this defeat me! I can handle this. Besides, the room probably has two separate beds, so it'll be fine!

With a bright smile that betrayed her current playfulness, Fiore spoke as she rolled over and handed back one of the keys to the front desk attendant.

"Have fun, you two. And good night!"

With that, the trio of girls turned tail and took the elevator to the 8th floor, where the rooms she had rented were located.

Applying the electronic key to it's keyhole, she opened the door and went in before the other two. It was a fine room of significant size, with paintings in gold frames adorning every wall, a proper kitchen with a stocked fridge and.... a single californian king sized bed.

"w-Well, it's quite large so we should be fine on the elbow space, but this is unexpected. But we'll make do, right girls?", her statement betrayed slightly by a nervous stammer.

Chosen Undead
"Yeah." The Knight responded for Caules.

The titanite armor was only making the Undead man even more uncomfortable as it got colder. 'That's it,' he thought, 'I'm going to drink some of it.'

The Knight took hold of one of his two remaining Estus Flasks, lifted up his face guard, and took a swig. The feeling of warmth was immediate, going down his throat and resting in his stomach. He was careful to not drink much of the substance, for there wasn't much of it left. "Let's hurry up and find a place soon, Caules. This weather isn't agreeing with me that well."

"I get it. Looks like we're quite lucky, though", Caules said as he eyed a small döner shop on the corner of the street they were on. It was the kind of food place he and what friends he had at school could go and eat something tasty at without paying a fortune, having had no access to the family fortune while he was at his uncle's. Pointing it out to his companion, they approached at a reasonable walking pace. They entered, ringing the off-sounding doorbell and walked straight to the counter. 'Lucky us, no queue'

"Excuse me sir, I'll be having a shawarma kebab, no cucumbers".

"Comin' right up!"

"Are you gonna be having anything, Tin man? Its on me." As he spoke, Caules digged into one of the pockets of his white uniform for his wallet, which he fortunately found undisturbed.

Forest chuckled and said, "I was just being a good hostess, offering you a place to sit that wasn't on the bloody ground.  As for 'the blood thing' feeding . . .  well, it has to be from the living.  I can't just gnosh on a blood bag and be fine.  If I tried that . . .  well, it would be very bad."

Then she pulled out the elastic tie holding her braid together and started to take her hair down.  She said, "If I was going to give you blood for magical energy I'd probably just open up a vein and tell you to drink.  I'd be afraid that just bleeding into a cup and injecting it would lessen the effect.  The ritual is half the point after all."

******

Lancer laughed as the other three girls departed.  He said, "I pointedly said I wasn't going to spend the night unless you wanted me to, Rin."

He winked at her and said, "Now you get a room to yourself once I leave.  Unless you do want me to spend the night.  However, let's go get a drink at the bar and catch up.  My treat.  I have a job here in Nexus that doesn't involve fighting things."

His chest puffed out slightly with pride that he was an ancient hero that had managed to adapt to the modern world.  Just he didn't know the implications of working at Wal-Mart.  All he knew was he got currency to help him buy food and things.  Not to mention a discount on all the items that the store sold.  Like his tent.

Shakespeare
Shirou gave the shabby-looking youth a few small bills from out of one of his pockets even as the attendant took a brief moment to draw his eyes from Assassin and back to his work.

The duo of Shirou and Assassin proceeded to the theater posthaste, Caster having insisted on getting himself some of the "modern delicacies", as he had called them, so Shirou had left him with a handful of cash to do what he must with.

Taking their seats at the back of the theatre, Assassin looked around as if confused by the place they were in.

"Is something the matter, Assassin?", Shirou asked inquiringly.

"Not in particular. I am merely a bit intrigued by the entire idea of this place. Amphitheaters of my time did not quite have the same level of luxury", eyeing the red carpets and dim lights.

"I assure you that this is a relatively inexpensive luxury of the modern day, if it can even be called such."

"How very curious. It seems that the level of what can be described as luxury has risen since my time then."

"Speaking of curious, where is Caster? He's taking his sweet time, at any rate", said Shirou, taking a look at the clock on his phone. It was only a few minutes until the movie began.
So many different confectionery concoctions had their packaging assault my eyes with their vibrant colors and logos. And yet, there was no chicken. What mockery was this, to not provide a chicken to be shared and eaten during the play, and if all else failed, thrown at the actors to express displeasure!? This modern Globe was truly lacking in a few regards, but something other than the chicken finally caught my eye. A puffed grain of some kind, 'Popped corn'

Throwing some of the flimsy paper things down on the counter, I ordered a bucket of it, the haggard looking youth behind the counter dumping salt and a yellowish powder he informed me was some sort of salty butter on it. Tentatively, I brought a kernel to my mouth, crunching down on it. The corn itself had no taste, but the butter and salt flooded my taste, playing against each other like an actor and his foil. Ah, what a wonderful food. Holding the bucket and tears of joy back, I sought out my Master.

Archer

"Yeah, I can bet cold blood tastes awful." Archer commented as Forest let her hair free of it's confinements. "Taking from a vein would be preferred. Quick and rather primal. That should transfer the energy better than just putting it in a cup. Of course, that's if you're fine with giving blood." Archer shifted a little bit, giving Forest a bit more space. "As I said, I'm fine for another day or two. I might find someone to make a contract with in that time."

The servant neglected to mention the exact details of that process.

As the last few advertisements that neither Shirou nor Assassin paid attention to ended, Caster turned the corner, a plastic bucket the size of half his torso cradled by one of his arms as he spotted the duo and took his seat.

"What in the world did you buy this time, Caster?" asked Assassin as she eyed the odd-looking foodstuff.

Ash nodded and replied, "Seduction has its advantages too.  It puts you at less of a risk if you're in a pinch.  Hunting can be risky, especially in a place where there are monster hunters everywhere.  Hell, there's a dhampire on the police force here."

Ellen did not have a clue what Ash meant by dhampire, but knew she was talking about the fact that this place seemed to be rife of dangerous people. "Then, if you say so, maybe I should learn that too, but I don't want to be dependent too much on one trick."

Amy

Amy simply smiled at Fiore, “It will be fine, don’t worry about it.” She began to stretch her arms.

“Well, I am going to take a shower and hit the hay, it’s been a long day.” She yawned, “If you need your clothes cleaned just ask Proxy, he will be happy to do it.” The rabbit nodded from his position on the bed.

--------------------------------

Shiro

Shiro tapped away the ash on his cigarette. “Listen, I will be up front with you. You would need to have a bare minimum of 2 squads of trained combatants at the church at all times, preferably more during the night. And a bit of funding so I can do some renovations when this is over would be nice.”

He looked at Fate, a stern expression gracing his features, “But I have no idea if you are even capable of doing this. I see the plans, I saw the one you sent to recruit me, and I see you have a fancy organization here.” He paused, “But there is nothing you imply this will work, I don’t even know if you are capable yourself.”

That was partly a lie, Shiro could tell he was strong but he was unsure about how strong he really was. He was skilled at hiding it, the calm air around him making him difficult to read.

“I will jump on your little ship here as soon as you clear up those concerns of mine.” He concluded. Shiro was never much for negotiations, he preferred things to be simple and cut and dry. He hoped it would be resolved in such a manner here.

--------------------------------

Benjamin Saylor

Two men were in an office, both of them had a steel briefcase at their sides. The one that was sitting was dressed in a fashionable suit and sporting a rather large beard, a rather old man with gray hair. The other was standing and was in an open jacket that showed off his chest to the world, had blue hair with a large stitched scar over his left eye, and finally had two large metal cannon hanging on his back.

The one with blue hair began to speak, “Well, I got what you wanted.” He placed his case on the desk on the desk in front of the old man, before opening it revealing vials of dark liquid. “All the hydra blood you ordered, no idea how those guys got their hand on it though, this is nasty stuff, not common either.”

The only man simply chuckled, “No it is not, the nature of the nexus proving to be rather profitable in this case. You see why I hired one of your expertise in this sort of situation?” Putting his briefcase on the desk he opened it, revealing what looked like platinum bars. “And here is our payment as discussed.”

Quickly counting the bars he closed the briefcase, before nodding and closing the one filled with vials. Then he simply took both cases and placed them at his sides.

The old man simply raised an eyebrow and frowned, “What are you doing now Benjamin, we had a deal.”

The newly named Benjamin simply look at the man, “Ya, we did. And it would have been fine if you did not FUCKING LIE TO ME!” He yelled and slammed his hands down on the desk. “I explicitly asked who I was stealing from, and you said to me they were simply a bunch of troublemakers.” He leaned down lower and looked the older man in the eye, “Not a fucking group of vampires.”

The old man started to be obviously intimidated, “Now Benjamin, lets not do anything you might regr-“ He was cut off when Benjamin grabbed his throat with his right hand.

“No, I make it perfectly clear. You are upfront about a job, no smokes and mirrors, no lies. You broke that one rule I have.” Picking up the man he grabbed both brief cases with his free hand and walked over to the large window overlooking the street. It was fairly empty below, but he could feel the fight happening not too far away and the bounded field that was set up, seems like a rush job.

“Now? You get to be an example.” And with that he threw the man, breaking through the window and sending him plummeting to the ground below, landing in the middle of the street, in clear view of a man driving a Firebird down the street at high speeds. He died on impact.

Then, holding a brief case in both hands he walked out the new exit, falling without a care feet first. The wind brushed by his ears and face, but his face remained perfectly calm.

Then a second latter he hit the pavement, lowering to a crouch as the sidewalk cracked and indented beneath him. Then he simply stood up, not even any hint that he fell over 6 stories.

"You don't fuck with me old man."

Gabriel was listening outside his godmother's door.  Her "visitor" had her so distracted that she hadn't chided her godson yet for eavesdropping, and eavesdropping was what Gabriel was doing.  Eavesdropping and sensing all sorts of interest and attraction between the two of them.

The chemistry was instant.  Gabriel wasn't a believer in love at first sight, but like at first quip was something entirely possible.  Not to mention the two of them were so alike he was going to laugh at the irony once he was away.

Both of them were frustrated.   Both of them hadn't felt the touch of a lover for a long time, and both of them had been rejected by a lover because of who they were.  It's almost like the Nexus wanted them to meet, he thought, a smile splitting his face.  Well, in this I can help out.

With Archer's tiptoeing around the subject of contracting with someone, Gabriel suspected just how it was made and his smile grew.

******

Forest combed her fingers through her hair and said, "Actually it's not a matter of taste, but more like it can make me severely weakened or even comatose.  It's a life thing, part of it is taking it from the living.  It's . . . a very long and metaphysical explanation."

She twirled a lock of her hair around and said, "I . . . well, if its to help you out and you need it I wouldn't mind opening up a vein.  I can always get more, and I can help you find someone to make a contract with, if you want.  So you don't expire or whatnot."

******

"Exactly, the more you have at your call, the better off you'll be," Ash said, "But first, how are you feeling?"

Chances were, since Ellen was so young, she was probably getting lethargic with the sun rising.

"Metaphysical things can be a bitch." Archer nodded, following along. Take something directly from the living, and it's alive. Take something already taken, and it's no longer living, or it has less life to give. It was all a matter of perspective, time and a bunch of other factors that would cause a headache to explain in full most likely. "So directly from the vein it is then? Again, I won't 'die' for at least another day. You've done a lot for me already, considering we literally just met."

"Lets just say I'm the sort that likes to help when the person's worth it," Forest said with a shrug, "Besides, you like fell into my bed.  That's . . . that's gotta count for something I don't want to put too much thought into."

Oh Lord and Lady, yes I do.  I'm putting all sorts of thought into those large hands and . . . I have to stop reading those books.  Or I might prove Gabe right.

"Glad I'm worth it then." Archer smiled. "Where was someone like you years ago..." His voice trailed away, a bad memory surfacing to be buried once more as he shoved it out of his thoughts. "The universe is telling us something maybe. Perhaps you need a more sturdy bed."

"Oh if you were an evil murderer, you wouldn't be having this nice little bit of a chat with me," Forest said with a grin, before stilling slightly at his unfinished question.  Then she looked at him and said in a quiet voice, "Well I'm here now."

Then she looked at her mattress, breaking the moment, and said, "Yeah, I should invest in a steel bed frame or something."

"Steel is nice. Strong, rather light, and will take a lot of wear and tear, from any other man that somehow falls into your bed." Archer smiled a litlte at that comment, EMIYA laying down on the matress, hands behind his head. "And yeah. I'm happy you're here now. Late is always better than never."

The picture that Archer portrayed laying in her bed, surrounded by purple and violet plush bed clothes was a rather nice one.  His hands behind his head gave Forest a nice view of his arms as he stretched out.  It was odd, anyone else she would have chided and perhaps even gotten physically violent with getting into her bed like this.  She laid down as well, rolling over to her side and propping her head up with her hand.

She flashed him a smile and replied, "Well, honestly, I'm glad that you're here, broken bed withstanding.  I do know that if any other men fall into my bed, unless they happen to be Bruce Campbell, they'll be rather lack luster in comparison."
