Shiro

Shiro tapped away the ash on his cigarette. “Listen, I will be up front with you. You would need to have a bare minimum of 2 squads of trained combatants at the church at all times, preferably more during the night. And a bit of funding so I can do some renovations when this is over would be nice.”

He looked at Fate, a stern expression gracing his features, “But I have no idea if you are even capable of doing this. I see the plans, I saw the one you sent to recruit me, and I see you have a fancy organization here.” He paused, “But there is nothing you imply this will work, I don’t even know if you are capable yourself.”

That was partly a lie, Shiro could tell he was strong but he was unsure about how strong he really was. He was skilled at hiding it, the calm air around him making him difficult to read.

“I will jump on your little ship here as soon as you clear up those concerns of mine.” He concluded. Shiro was never much for negotiations, he preferred things to be simple and cut and dry. He hoped it would be resolved in such a manner here.

"I can have 4 squads there at all times on a rotation with an additional one at night if necessary, and install magical and technological alarm systems." Fate said, not missing a beat. The man was naturally going to have reservations about the offer. Nothing he hadn't expected.

Returning Shiro's harsh gaze with a serene, business like expression, he continued succintly. "Your concerns are logical, but I assure you they are baseless and you may put them to rest. My people have been trained well and though not many, are a force to be reckoned with. Their equipment is the best, their mindset appropriate, and a new batch of recruits will soon be joining full service."

As soon as Fate finished, he emptied what remained of the coffee into his mouth and laid down the mug on his desk with a harsh clack.

"In regards to my own competence... would you care to verify it?"

A soft smirk found its way into Fate's face, his posture now changed, exhuding an aura of challenge.

Shiro

“Hmm, I suppose that would work.” He began to rub his chin in thought, “Do you have anywhere we can cut loose?”

This was probably the best alternative. He would just have to be careful to not reveal Yuki; it was his trump card against mages and spiritual entities and he did not want too many people to know about it. Especially since he had no idea who could be watching.

The Behemoth's arms gave out as the knight came down at a speed faster than expected and slammed her sword into it's upraised and absurdly large talons, almost cracking them as the beast was thrown to the ground.

As the knight stood triumphant however, one of it's massive talons sweeped her legs from under her as it took footing, and brought down the other handful of claws upon her form on the ground...

Mordred rolled on the ground to avoid claws of the Beast.  While it seemed she did damage the monster with her previous attack, the situation did not look good still. Shit, I can't screw up or these claws will get me Mordred thought as she stood up, bracing herself for an incoming attack.

Fate

"I believe the arena in the underground training area will suffice." Fate responded, smile stretching a little bit. "Let's not lose any time then. Follow me."

Leading Shiro through the elevator down to the installations under the ground level of the building, Fate allowed anticipation to build within him. It had been a while since he had fought someone strong. He was hoping this fight would allow him to get serious. Even he needed to cut loose every one in a while, and there was no one to better do it with than someone he would possibly be working with in the future.

The elevator doors opened to reveal the brightly lit underground floor with its grey tones and high walls. If the offices of AEGIS looked like a modern business, then this part of their installations much more resembled a military base. Fully armored and armed soldiers outfitted with the distinctive AEGIS gear were running security, saluting Fate as he passed. Several more people were walking the halls while a few idles conversed, most not wearing full armor sets, their helmets set aside, or simply in the lean under-armor bodysuit they were provided.

Fate swiped a card through doors for them to pass as they went by an armory before coming up on the training area. A large open space that opened up to several more rooms, but its most prominent feature being the sealed off arena slightly smaller than the half of a football field.

The two were stopped by an armored man with an officer insignia on his arm who addressed Fate upon entering.

"Sir." he said, saluting. "What brings you here?"

Fate waved his hand nonchalantly at him. "At ease. I am here to spar with our guest. Tell everyone using the area to clear out."

A strong nod was the response he got before the soldier ran off to warn the few people that were using it.

Paladin

Quote
"I have a plan. Paladin, I'm going to ask you to do exactly as I say,"

"I hope it's a good plan, Hunter." Paladin unsheathed his sword, removed the shield from his back, and held the sword in his right hand and the shield in his left. He was ready to listen to the plan, but if Archive Hunter was going to harm the officers Paladin would not hesitate to knock him out. Harming the innocent went against Stribog's teachings, and even if Paladin enjoyed Archive Hunter's company, he would not hesitate to strike Hunter down.

"Greetings Morden'fula. I am Grigori. You are a very interesting creature. Rapid adaptation along with intelligence is not very common. Then there is the shapeshifting. Are you some magical creature? Or are you a natural being?

Grigori did not expect a prisoner to tell the truth. So she would make sure to take any answer with a grain of salt.

Shiro

Stepping out into the open training field, or cavern in this case, he did an immediet rundown of the location.

Mostly flat, very few locations where he could gain a high advantage, lack of cover. He clicked his tongue in annoyance. This was a bad place for him to fight an unknown opponent. Oh well, no choice in the matter.

Turning around once he has reach suitable distance he noticed the entire field has been vacated and many were watching from the bleachers near the entrance.

“Well, I suppose I will make the first move.” And with that the black keys flew. Two heading for Fate with the force of armor piercing bullets and one was aimed at his shadow. Always a good way to test the waters.

Fate

Fate stood in the middle of the arena in an apparently relaxed stance, but in truth ready to respond to any attacks that Shiro, across from him, chose to open the fight with. His expression had been replaced with a mostly aloof one that expressed only an edge of confidence, regarding his opponent as the man analyzed the battlefield.

Then the priest made a simple exclamation, and in a flash three thin blades were whistling through the air at deadly speed and force. Two straight towards him and one aimed at the ground near him.

With his barrier it was unlikely the blades would be able to hurt him, but there was no reason to give away his defensive capabilities so soon, and the way Shiro threw his weapons was telling. The two going for him were a distraction, while the third, and more innocuous one at first glance, held some sort of trap. It was an obvious trick, but an effective one. He suspected shadow binding.

With a quick movement back, he had placed himself out of the danger of the blade aiming for his shadow, and then with calculated swipes he deflected the other two blades away without so much as a scratch.

Before the weapons even clattered down to the floor, his hard eyes focused on Shiro and five sharp projectiles of stone formed in the air around him. The Stone Spears powerful enough to pierce through the shields of mages and walls of reinforced steel were launched at Shiro in retaliation.

The picture that Archer portrayed laying in her bed, surrounded by purple and violet plush bed clothes was a rather nice one.  His hands behind his head gave Forest a nice view of his arms as he stretched out.  It was odd, anyone else she would have chided and perhaps even gotten physically violent with getting into her bed like this.  She laid down as well, rolling over to her side and propping her head up with her hand.

She flashed him a smile and replied, "Well, honestly, I'm glad that you're here, broken bed withstanding.  I do know that if any other men fall into my bed, unless they happen to be Bruce Campbell, they'll be rather lack luster in comparison."
"Thanks." Archer looked towards Forest, a tint of red hitting his ears at that complement. Her hair trailed out over her hand, contrasting nicely against the purple sheets. Gold strands against violet cloth was striking indeed. "It's been a long, long day - er, night. I shouldn't bother you with anything more than I already have. Just let you get some sleep, and deal with the issues later." Despite his words, he didn't move, not yet. The mattress was rather soft, and to his sore and aching muscles, a relief.

Shiro

Fate easily dealt with the attack, even suspecting shadow binding from how he made it avoid his shadow. Then a moment later he retaliated.

Five stone spears flew at Shiro, and in response two black keys appeared in his hands as he held them as swords. As the spears got within range the blades flash out, deflecting two of the spears, giving Shiro an easy gap to dodge. The spears of stone flew by him and impacted the ground behind him. The black keys crumbled, unable to take the force of the spears on their sides, it should be expected, they were throwing weapons, designed for piercing, not for slashing.

The blades were re-engaged, and four more filled his hands. “Let’s see how you deal with this then.” And with that the six blades were launched, but as soon as they left his hands six more filled his hands and were launched immediately.

Forest smiled at Archer and said, "You seem exhausted yourself, honestly."

She knew he wanted to move from his words, but he made no motion to leave.  "Let me guess, rough day at the office before landing in some daft Scotswoman's bed?"

"You have no idea. It'd be easier to have been hit by a truck." Archer ran a hand through his hair. "It'd been simpler and less painful to deal with, and have been quicker. And you aren't daft, I can tell that."

Fate

Fate's lips curved upwards slightly as his opponent evaded the attack and then responded in added kind. Two more waves of projectiles were readied and tossed at him in an instant. Well, if they were going to be trading with blades, he would be more than happy to oblige.

As the first six throwing swords approached him, the mage's arm was swung in a swift arc. As his wrist shifted, the motion conjured his Obsidian Swords. A widening fan of sharp and harsh blades of black steel was left behind.

With a simple direction of his hand, the fan of swords danced through the air and clashed against the first offending wave. The sharpness and power of the obsidian swords shattered it helplessly and swerved towards the second wave, brutally knocking all of the throwing weapons away.

Fate's set of blades did not stop at that, and sliced through the air to attack Shiro, splitting into many slashing instruments. Flung at various angles, the black swords spinned in the priest's direction.

Forest rose into a half reclining position and asked, "Do you want to talk about it?  I'm a fairly decent listener. Plus I can also sympathize about grievous bodily harm."

Shiro

Shiro’s eye twitched a bit when he saw the ease at which Fate deflected his attack, simultaneously launching his own.

Now, many razor sharp stone blades were spinning at him. He doubted that black keys would be able to help him here. He raised his hand to his chest and brushed it against his pin, and in a flash of light a lance graced his hands. The edges of the lance long tip glowed in holy light, as he held in in both hands. Then as soon as the blades were within his increased range it flashed out.

As each blade crossed the threshold it was cut in two, the edge passing through them like butter. Then, with the attack negated Shiro surged forward and moved to close the distance, the ranged battle all but lost, especially in this terrain.

"I would, actually. Later, maybe, because I'm sort of wasting daylight." Archer remained down on the mattress. "Interrupting your beauty sleep, not that you need it, I guess."
