PS Vita 2000 and Vita TV
« on: September 09, 2013, 09:44:17 PM »
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan held an online news conference early this morning (or some time yesterday, depending on which time zone you are in), where two new Vita-related hardware announcements were made.

There's going to be a slimmer version of the Vita itself, but with an LCD screen in place of the current OLED:

Plus, there is going to be a new system, the PS Vita TV, which will let you play various games (including Réalta Nua) on a television:

The other material announced at this conference is listed over here.

Huh, the Vita TV could mean that we could get higher quality recordings of the OPs for Realta Nua. That'll be good. :) About time Sony got caught up to Nintendo for the whole "utilize method for making handheld stuff viewable on bigger screens" thing. That'll be interesting, especially if it gets ported outside of Japan as well. :)

Besides running the forum, I can provide avatars for people as well~

It looks pretty good, although I can't really tell what's going on for most of it.

The first week's worth of MediaCreate sales are in for the Vita TV. With 42,172 units sold, combined with 46,350 for the Vita proper, plus over a quarter of a million copies of the Vita version of God Eater 2 being picked up, it's been a good week for the system.

Even the PSP version of GE2 sold over 100k, which shows there's some life in the PlayStation Portable yet... at least in Japan.

The UK will get the -2000 model on the 7th of Febuary. There was no word at the announcement event about the 64 gig card, or the Vita TV.

SCEA and SCEE have posted their initial compatibility lists for the PlayStation (Vita) TV in their repective regions.

There are a few games which work on the Vita TV over in Japan but which aren’t yet on either list: Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment (though I think it may have needed a separate patch update, which I hope may be included in this week's update in North America and Europe), the various games from the Hyperdimension Neptunia series which are curently on Vita (PP, Re;Birth1, Re;Birth2, Geki Noire, and U – the first two of which are available in the West), Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus (which is being released in North America on the same day as PSTV), and many others (such as Danganronpa: Another Episode).

But then, these are initial lists only, so more games are likely to be added as time goes on.
