Cole

Managing to block out most of the light with a dirt and tar-streaked hand, Cole saw the blur of movement and reached out to catch the object on reflex, realizing too late that it was a flashlight.

The moment the electrical device settled into his hand, a massive current surged through it, melting the plastic for all of an instant before the energy surges into the simple circuit, the rush of current causing the lightbulb to flash like a tiny sun for the shortest of instants before it promptly exploded.

"..." the Conduit stared at the lady, then down at the ruined flashlight, then back at the sewer working, "Probably should've warned you about that..."

"Anyway," Cole continues, "I'm down here because I'm trying to get away from a...I honestly don't know what it is, but it's not the police, it's not a Conduit, and I've probably gotten far enough away from...whatever it is by now."

Michael

"Later," Michael says, continuing to scan the rooftops, "Right now, we need t-"

Just then, a tiny semi-familiar glint catches his eye, of a kind he hadn't seen since-

Rifle scope. Sniper.

"Behind me," Michael shouts, staff in his hands all but instantly, "Keep a hand on me so I know you're here!"

Just then his vision wavers a bit, the last throes of the poison coursing through his veins, right as the tiny glint is accompanied by triplets of even smaller flashes, looking like mere sparks from this distance as the rifle gave birth to its lead children.

Suppressed weaponry? Are they desperate? No, there was no end to those peons, so there's no reason for a specialist to risk revealing themselves unless-

Mere instants pass, each tiny interval feeling like an eternity to the Enhanced immortal, before the glint of the first round enters his view. A surprising portion of the shots were rather far off the mark, but this could be attributed to the distance. They were mostly aiming to incapacitate, instead of kill, aiming for targets below the waist to hamper mobility.

To say that he moved the staff would've been inadequate, as this would imply that the staff was a separate entity from Michael. At the same time, to say that he moved the staff as if it were an extension of himself would have been similarly inadequate, for it would imply that the staff was only now part of him, that it was something that had been grafted on to him, an unnatural extension of himself. Thus, it would be accurate to say that he moved. His weapon was not merely part of him, it was him, but his weapon was not the staff; rather, he was the weapon. Everything he was, body, mind, and soul, all of it was honed to fight. That was the weapon he wielded. So while it may have seemed as if it was the staff that turned the bullets aside into the expected crowds of shadow-beings that sought to seize them, it was his mind that plotted the trajectories and judged the proper way to deflect the rounds, it was his body, of which the staff was merely a natural part, that moved the rounds in the directions they needed to go. All the while, a tiny voice seemed to scratch at his very soul.

Destroy. Break. Sunder. Shatter.

A voice that would go unnoticed for now, for it was not part of the fight.

Medaka

Medaka gave an almost equally cocky grin. She was no longer blushing and she was starting to compose herself.

"Oh really?  That's impressive Lorenzo.  Does that mean I can learn it as well?"  She said mirroring his body language.

Lorenzo Remei

“BWAHAHAHAHA! Foolish Medaka, it is not so simple. I’ve been training at it for as long as I can remember, and there are still bigger fish than me! However, I am not just a normal fish, but a dolphin! Because of that, normal fish cannot compare to me!” Lorenzo laughed heartily, galloping to places unknown to even him.

“Know this. Magic is not something everyone can learn. You either have it or you don’t, no in-between. It’s like having a cock, only you can’t wave magic around in public.”

But Lorenzo knew that he was guilty of doing both. Not that he cared.

“Besides, even if you did have magic, you might not have the same aptitude you’d expect to possess.” He added, nodding sagely.

Medaka Kurokami

"Thats disappointing." replied Medaka, her excitement halted before it even began.  She stopped and looked around.  She was having fun but it didn't seem like they were getting anywhere.

"By the way, how far are we from a clothes shop?"

Natara

The Caretaker quickly ran behind Michael and used one hand to grab onto his side as she carefully watched his staff blur as it moved to block the bullets with extreme accuracy.

Mata Boyd

The sewage worker watched impassively as the flashlight flared impossibly bright before the bulb exploded. "I'm not even gonna ask. If you want to get out keep going straight ahead until the tunnel diverges. Take the left one and you should be fine. There's a manhole relatively near so it won't take too long. If you go through the right tunnel you die. Oh, and if you start hearing some really loud breathing or the sound of a lot of rats I would run the other way. Cheers!"

With that said she returned to examining the large crack in the wall with keen interest but kept her flashlight from shining in it. If one could see in the dark and looked close enough you could almost see a large, bulbous sack of flesh within it.

Saber

Saber nodded at Lancelot and said, "Thank you."

Then she looked at Irisviel, who looked as if her whole world had been struck.  The white haired woman's voice died off before she said, "Your world as well, Saber? It’s strange to think of a world where Kiritsugu survived and summoned you as intended. I guess it’s not really surprising at all... I guess... I guess the me from your world doesn’t have these?”

Saber watched as the other woman removed her glove, revealing the cup shaped command seals on her hand.  Saber gave her a sad smile and said, "Your husband's, at least that version of him, had Command Seals in the shape of a sword."

Her blush greatly intensified as she leaned in close to Saber’s ear. “Did... Did I have Avalon? In your world?” She asked in a low, barely audible, whisper.

Saber felt her heart pick up at Irisviel's question as heat spread to her own cheeks.  She bit her lip and then nodded.  "For a time.  To protect you and to make sure you could still function even though . . ."

Even though you were being filled with the souls of the Servants to complete your duty.

Abigail

Abigail frowned at Archer and said, "Well Law you should come with me and he can go find whatever clothing within a reasonable price range.  Right?  You can help me pick out some pillows and blankets so you're comfy."

Her peridot eyes narrowed at Archer.

Rider sighed as Shirou threw one of his swords up in the air before stepping off the building.

Why is everyone so stubborn?

Not that she'd really expected talking to him to work, of course. Shirou was not someone who let little things like being horribly outmatched get in the way of whatever it was he felt he needed to do, and it sounded like he had someone he wished to protect. Rider was somewhat surprised and annoyed that that "someone" was not Sakura, but nevertheless it was entirely what she'd expect from him.

Quickly, she followed him over the edge, running slightly so as to end up slightly further from the building than he was, and twisting her body around to face him as she fell. She took care to watch out for the sword that she knew would be attracted back to its counterpart. Throwing that sword would normally have been a good move, but with Rider it was futile, since she was well acquainted with Shirou's fighting style.

As she fell, Rider changed into her usual battle outfit, and prepared herself for the landing, intending to grab Shirou as soon as she got the chance. Whilst she was far, far faster and stronger than him, he was not completely incompetent, and she was hampered by the fact that she dare not cause him any harm, lest Sakura go even more insane than she already was. So, she had to be careful about how she approached the capture.

Sakura

“Jeez, Senpai, you act exactly the same way I remembered.” She said with a big smile. “You’re right, he doesn’t care about facing death. That’s exactly right.” She told him. “However, Senpai, that’s exactly why I need to do this. If you won’t think of yourself, I will.”

Irisviel von Einzbern

Saber gave her a sad smile in response to Irisviel revealing her full set of command seals and said, "Your husband's, at least that version of him, had Command Seals in the shape of a sword."

“Heh, that seems about right for him.” She said with a nostalgic chuckle. “It figures that his would be in the shape of a weapon, and a sword seems as good as any other one. Although... I’m somewhat surprised that it wasn’t a gun.” She continued reminiscing about Kiritsugu.

Irisviel studiously ignored Saber’s increased blush and slightly more rapid breaths as she bit her lip and nodded.  "For a time.  To protect you and to make sure you could still function even though . . ." Saber curiously stopped abruptly mid sentence; something clearly was bothering her.

Irisviel, on the other hand, was immensely relieved. “Sigh Well, at least that stayed the same Saber. There’s so much... different between your world and mine. I’ll bet in your world Zouken is a bloodthirsty maniac too, just like Sakura’s. This has been a day of surprises, but I’m glad I was able to hold onto... that... in both our timelines.” She smiled ruefully, bitterness tainting her voice. “Even through I’m fairly sure I died in your world, just like in Sakura’s. I’m not wrong, am I?” She asked, expecting a confirmation to her suspicions.

"Now, now. I was talking about people in general. We don't know if it applies to you yet, so no need to give up so soon." said Lorenzo in an attempt to cheer her up.

"You know, I'd be happy to teach you." He added, grinning all the while as he kept on galopping. Lost in his naughty thoughts, he kept on galopping merrily, ignoring the weirded out look that nearby civilians gave them.

"Oh, right... the clothes shop. It's nearby, it must be."

With that little bit of information, Medaka's excitement came back. "Really?  Well if that's the case, as soon as we get some clothes I request that you start teaching me at once."  Replied Medaka rather firmly.

"Oh, right... the clothes shop. It's nearby, it must be." Lorenzo added.

"Alright, as long as you know where your going." Said Medaka with absolute trust.  Now that the matter of where the clothes shop is was settled, she was ready to return to the conversation about magic.

"So?  Does that sound like a plan?"  Medaka said, going back to her firm tone.

Caedia

"I have listened for a little while. The derision in your voice as you spoke of who this girl reminded you of was clear. Do you even see anything else except a ghost of your past in her?"

Then a hard look overtook the Arisen's features. "And despite the fact that the man failed he was correct. A strong enough will can change the world. Whether or not he had the strength or will to actually achieve it is a different scenario."

(OOC: Sorry, I was so tired staying up late that I broke my promise to post. Technically, it's still today though. For me :p)

Mordred

"I agree. This world is wrong, and such jerks don't help fixing it. I don't have enough strength do that alone neither I'm willing to make it my 24 hours per day job, but I will do what I can within reason. If he lashes out at you, I won't stand idle." she declared firmly. Even if using her spear had a steep cost, it would be worthwhile to fight along with that stranger if the armored man only proved further he was the asshole here.

ANATU

The Babylonian’s eyes grew wide and her cheeks dusted pink as Just loudly called out to the woman resting among the vines. He then pushed her on while saying something to her, probably to go ahead and speak with the mysterious lady.

Anatu stiffened and rooted herself firmly in place. This was too sudden, and frankly quite embarrassing. The woman down the street had opened her eyes and was looking at her now, but she couldn’t meet her eyes. Her cheeks burned furiously. She wanted a hole to open up in the ground and swallow her.

Then the tanned woman held her hand out with a smile, a clear invitation. Anatu blinked in surprise, gulped, and made her way over to where the woman was sitting.

Vanguard

Vanguard laughed briefly before turning to the newcomer, glaring at her.

"Hold your tongue. What you speak is but utter nonsense. That man did not lose because his will faltered, he could not have. I know better than anyone, how hard that man wished for the world to be saved, how long he endured for that wish and to what extent he could have fought to make it reality. But a wish cannot save the world, not without power. Purpouse without strength is as worthless as scattered rubble, and in the end, he died meaninglessly without protecting anything. A life of lie..."

His tone was now as dull as earlier, robotic and emotionless. Wether he was angry or sad, none could tell. But the grinding of metal and rust could be heard, rumbling from beneath the man's armor.

"You are right, Mordred. The world is twisted, filthy and utterly wrong. To say otherwise would be to deceive oneself. The strong will always thrive, and the weak will have their fate robbed for the amusement of those above. It is simply how the world is, to try and change it without the power to do so is to make of oneself a farce! A farce cannot save the world, that is why that man fell. And this is why you will fall." said Vanguard, his mad ravings carrying on along with his pathetic spiel, belittling both Mordred and the man that he once was.

"Tell me, what reward  do you think the world grants for those who can only advance, bearing their will as if it was greater than the absolute?"

Caedia

The Arisen's tone was filled with bitter mockery. "Oh, he must have surely had a weak will. If you, who had known him can only see him as a fool then his will must have been trifling. If his actions could not change you, then how dare he desire to change the world. Will is more than the ability to endure. It is to inspire that same will in others. To spread that strength to those around you."

As the man continued the Arisen laughed. She hadn't heard such worthless ramblings since the time she confronted the aged Duke. "Save the world? The world does not need salvation. The world does not want salvation. The weak are crushed, and they desperately cling to life and become stronger. Some will die and some will be lost, this is the reality of such a world, but it is still beautiful. The pain and suffering of the world holds only one answer. Cling to life and grow stronger."

With a hand on the hilt of her blade she answered the fool's question. "There is no reward worth receiving. I have seen many die. Seen as they failed where I succeeded. Even those whose wills guide them to become absolute are simply bound by chains tighter than you could possibly imagine. This world, all worlds and all their denizens. They are no different than an ocean without current. Empty vessels. It is the duty of the absolute to create and allow suffering. To temper the volition of the world and its people so that there might be true life. Those are the rewards of those who would have a will that is unbreakable. Yet even as it is I would have no world other than this one."

Aisha

As the Child cautiously drew closer to her the smile on Aisha's face widened and as soon as the blonde was close enough the First Mother reached over and pulled the girl into her embrace. Her touch was filled with the gentleness of a mother and she felt complete as she held her Child so close to her.

Aisha could say the word love in every language known to man. She could speak it in the tongue of birds and beasts and the great creatures of old. A sea of meaning to express herself was open to her, yet no word could express how she felt. It was beyond such base forms of communication. So instead of saying a word she simply cradled her child gently and began to sing.

She sang of the time before time. Of the world of ancients that the she had once experienced. She sang of brave hunters, of hero kings, of cities of stone and magic, of mysterious oceans, and of legends as old as time. Her song was sung in the First Tongue and the countless languages of man were complemented by the soothing call of the wild. Aisha sang of the primal earth that once was and would never be again.
