Even as his first attacker was sent flying, the resident could hear the bones creaking in the other man's body as he leapt at Lucas. Snarling, he turned just in time to face the man's black blade, so dark that light itself seemed not to escape - and it was aimed to take off his head.

What happened next, in the nature of things that happen faster than humans can see, seemed to happen at an almost glacial pace. His face contorting, the resident brought up his arm, pulling his head back to get out of the range of the blade. It was just enough to get out of range, but the black sword unlike anything he had seen before cleaved through his arm and nicked the edge of his neck.

At that moment, something was clearly wrong.

He was not healing from the attack of that blade.

Lucas's face twisted in panic, a foot lashing out at Crest in a blazingly fast kick as he struggled to comprehend what was happening. In all his long, long life, something had never stopped him from regenerating. He had always been immortal, from when he first knew life to now. He had to force both of them out as quickly as he could.

He nodded absently to Butler's reply, preparing to set outside amongst those of a more common stock, monsters that roamed the night and the corrupted that ruled the day. Vlad was no fool. His influence right now was slim - only through expansion of the Order could Drăculea hope to gain control of the city, and from there, rearrange it as he desired. A city without crime, without opposition was what he had desired in his life, and he still desired it here.

As he made for the stairs, Vlad noted the job his butler had done in faint approval. Everything down to the stone itself had been scrubbed clean, though there was still a faint red sheen to some parts of the floor. It was his haste to leave that had forced Butler to abandon his job, and so the Lord overlooked it.

"If I may make a suggestion, Lord Vlad," Butler began while helping put on Vlad's dark, winter coat. "Though your mind is of great skill in the mystic, and I possess considerable occult knowledge myself, I believe the Order could benefit from the presence of a specialist."

The Lord of the castle nodded thoughtfully.

"True. The absence of a magician cannot be overlooked in something of this scale. I do not believe, however, that any proper candidates have been found. They are weak, or children, or..."

He felt it, then, a great magical signature crossing the boundary line of castle. Frowning, his white brow furrowed in annoyance, Vlad looked up at the stained glass window, the grand picture of Jesus upon the cross reflected back upon him in the late afternoon.

"Of course, only a fittingly great mind should receive this honor; for every great work of architecture is started on strong pillars."

At that, three strong, firm knocks echoed throughout the castle, the person who stood on the side of the door making their presence known. Vlad's eyes shone with a sudden light.

"Indeed. It seems that, perhaps, one such mind has come upon us... I shall return to the throne room - appearances must be kept. If they seek an audience, tell them I am willing to receive them in fifteen minutes time."

The coat was back on the rack as Vlad moved back to the central room of the castle, where he would receive whomever had come to seek him out.

"Ah, Sir Mordred." Rattus said her name, unaware of her gender.

"W-w-what?!" Neo commented. "That's a man? Damn, you da man all alone, dude!"

"To be honest, I have never heard of the Summer Court, neither of the Legion of Iron Wall. But, I guess you deserve this..." He then stood up again straight, took out his wallet and pulled out two black calling cards, with a phone number and a home address embossed into them in golden letters.

He then handed out a card each to Henderson and Mordred, saying "In those business cards are our telephone number and the location of our Manor. You can give us a call or visit us directly if you need any help. Take these tokens, as a sign of our undying respect and gratefulness. What you did to us should not go unrewarded."

"Rattus-san is an arms dealer and a businessman, and Neo and I are two of his employees!" Yukina said to them with a cheerful smile.

"Yes. We can provide you weapons, ammunition or equipment." Rattus added. "If you can't find a weapon to your liking, we can try to make one for you. Miss Yukina here is an engineer and a blacksmith. She can create custom weapons, from blades to small arms. She could even modify your weapons, as long as they are not enchanted by any magic."

"And I'm a damn alchemist." Neo boasted to them. "I can create potions or turn shitty metal into gold, if ya' like. That's mah fuckin' job and I do it damn well."

"So, I expect that you will come to us someday for help. If not, then give those cards to those who need it the most." Rattus reminded them.

"Our house is made from red brick and mortar, with a black clay-tiled roof." Yukina said. "It is surrounded by a fence of red brick and wrought iron."

"So yeah, come ovah sometime." Neo invited them. "Especially you, sir Knight. I want some fun wit' you, pretty boy!" He then winked at Mordred suggestively.

"Neo-san! Do not be like that to Mordred-san!" The Japanese lady coyly complained at the blonde man. "I am sure that he has a girl back home, does not he?"

"I dun care. He's a yummy boy." Neo's voice was suggestive, as he wiggled his eyebrows at Mordred.

"I'm a woman, you bloody bender." Neo's advances offended her, and if he continued that she would certainly snap, that annoying he was. Hopefully saying she was a girl would discourage that lecherous homo from doing something he would regret.

"S-so Mordred-san is a girl?" Yukina questioned, confused.

"Doesn't matter." Neo said. "We should hook up some time, girl. I'ma give ya' a good time." He was still suggestive in tone.

"Neo, do not harass her like that!" Yukina scolded him like a bigger sister.

"Yukina's right, Neo." Rattus said. "That's enough. You are angering her now."

"A'right, a'right." Neo conceded. "But Ratt, I gotta admit and I gotta admit now..." His tone changed to serious. "She's the most badass and cutest girl I have evah seen in this damn city." He then looked back at Mordred, still somber but romantic. "We should get together, girl. I'll be the biggest fan you'll ever lose if ya' don't."

Lovely. He swings BOTH ways. "I'll break it to you. I'm not interested in you, and never going to be. So stay away from me or you will regret it. Am I clear?"

"Okay, girl. You said it." Neo seriously said. "But remember me, baby. That's... all I want. Just remember me." His ego was not present in those words, as if it broke down even for a second.

Mordred

"I need a brain bleach, perhaps" Mordred quipped at Neo and walked away.

"Damn..." Neo just stared at her as she walked away, still feeling somber about being rejected. But after a few moments, he came back to his usual manner and said, "But yeah, shit can't be helped. Doesn't want me, then stop being a fuckin' pussy and forget it, ain't I righ'?!" He then laughed heartily.

Rattus sighed when he observed Neo's behavior towards the blonde Knight. Yukina just smiled and rubbed the back of her head, embarrassed at his usual demeanor.

"But," Rattus suddenly spoke out. "I believe we have to get medical attention now. We have stayed here for too long." He then looked at Henderson and Mordred and said, "So, again, if you need any help, just call or visit us at the Manor. We expect you do such things one day."

"Yes!" Yukina reiterated. "We shall wait!"

"Okay, Yukina, let's go to the emergency room." Rattus commanded. Yukina nodded, and the three of them began to walk towards the emergency room.

She was relieved that Neo was gone, as she preferably did not want to deal with him anymore.

I think she is rather unhappy about having been called Zombie Girl.

No. Shit.

Lawrence gritted his teeth as Forest took the phonecall, praying to whatever fucking sadistic god that was watching over him the other man wouldn't notice Forest's fuck up in his emo moping. He didn't exactly have much experience explaining just what exactly he was. Hell, he didn't really know if the term he'd heard another person he'd run across like him by chance was the correct one: Sin-Eater. It sounded a little odd.

Then Forest tensed up on the phone, her tone going deathly serious as she asked "Where?" to the person on the other end. And the person who called her happened to be a cop. Well shit.

"Uh, Fore? Is there a problem or what?" Law asked, shivering a little bit in the cold.

"I've seen his type before," Henderson says as they make their way back to the Buick, "Back when I was working in Thailand...those were strange times."

Mr. Tar

Henry nodded once at Saber in acnowledgement. He had heard a bit about Law Unto Herself (or as Saber preferred to call her, Forest) since he started to work with the swordswoman. Unlike some people he could name in the police force, the fact she was a vampire wasn't a predetermined source of bother for him. Certainly, he had been wary - the vampires he knew, those Kindred who hid behind the masquerade, did not have tendencies he looked kindly on. But then, so did many Unchained. Saber was an earnest fellow. If she thought highly of Forest, he had no strong reason to believe that respect was misguided.

Leaving Saber to that, the Demon returned his attention to the crime scene, and frowned deeper.

The poor kid had been ran straight through. Something had speared him and left a huge hole on his chest, and judging from the pattern of the blood spatters on the wall, had hit him against the wall. It wouldn't be surprising if the body had a number of broken bones from that, but the trauma from the chest wound had probably been lethal to begin with. Depending on... how long he had just hanged there.

Things like this sickened him. But it was his job to consider them. And to his knowledge, there were very few things, even in Nexus City, with features that could cause a wound like that. Except for one he was intimately familiar with, having nearly been on the receiving end once.

He made an infallible mental note of the possibility another Demon had done this, sighed, and got to his feet to scan the rest of the room carefully. Slowly going over the walls, he noticed the gashes on some of them, like caused by the flailing of an impossibly thick, barbed whip.

Crest

Lucas’ kick sent Crest flying back, causing him to hit the ground some ways away and keep rolling until he stopped at a bookshelf.

Crest tried to get up, but the hit pushed all air from his lungs. As he stood he kneeled over and took deep breaths, trying to force more air into his lungs.

“Shit…” He muttered as he looked up to his enemy, he seemed to be panicking due to the wounds, but Crest bet it would not stop him.

He sneaked a glance at the woman and his bow, before he clicked his tongue.

Raising his machete he focused only on the enemy, he drew a hunting knife and kept it in his other hand, before the darkness once against coated them.

However there was something else, whispers of oblivion filled his mind, but Crest did not realize it. He was too focused on what was in front of him.

Destroy it, end it. Leave nothing behind.

But it meant nothing to Crest, he only wanted one thing right now, and that was to stop this fucking guy and get out with the woman, hoping his trust was not misplaced.

And so, with firm resolve he prepared his rejection as his eyes went as black as night.

EMIYA SHIROU

The vampire said something about leaving the roof, but he did not pay her words any heed. Shirou closed his eyes and focused on what little prana he had left, preparing to reinforce his legs to allow the superhuman strength and agility required to jump from building to building on the way back to the workshop.

“Saber, it hasn’t been an hour yet…”

Shirou halted, abandoning his attempt at reinforcement and turned to look at Forest, completely focused on what she was saying. She was on a cellphone, conversing with someone who was apparently on the police force.

Impossible… Saber died a long time ago. It’s probably someone else. But if what the undead girl had said about the Nexus was true, there was at least a small chance that she had been brought here. But do I even want to meet her? Do I want her to see the hero I’ve become? Shirou waited until Forest finished speaking on her phone to ask his question, resisting the urge to squirm at the uncomfortable wetness in his pants.

“You know someone named Saber?”

Butler

The loyal servant ducked his head at his master's exit. "It appears fortune smiles on us," he commented, before making to open the door.

Soon after Wiseman had knocked, the door to the castle opened back with a minimal drawn out creek. Behind it, a skull-headed butler bowed slightly to him with an arm over his chest.

"Welcome, guest. Please do come in," his smooth, polite timbre ringing out from the unmoving face. Gesturing to the grand entrance hall, he allowed Wiseman's entry before raising his head and continuing.

"I am Butler, and I attend to this castle. As you have shown far more politeness than our previous guests in venturing here and none of their foolish inclinations, I would ask you what your business here is, sir...?" Butler's one eye shone with a note of polite inquiry, as he led Wiseman to a seat on the right side of the great hall.
