He seems rather attached to the spirit girl.

Maybe she's affecting his mind somehow. If he's got a brain that is. Though this is fucking irritating. I swear to god my palms are itching for real from the shroud. What's your thoughts about Saber?

Sounds like someone who you do not want to tick off. Five dollars she's a lesbian musclebound weightlifter.

I'd take that bet if you weren't inside my soul.

Please. I've paid my rent already.

Lawrence shrugged. "So you finally listened to some reason. And I swear to god she is not getting in my car. I don't have any kiddie seats." His feet pounded down the stairs, back into the warm building. Turning towards Forest, he spoke again. "If I have to take the guy who nearly blew me up by mistake, you're taking the kid. Just saying."

Forest

Forest's indigo eyes flashed before she returned Calico's smile.  So, he doesn't like to be called Archer.

"Well, I could do something original and radical and, I don't know, call you by your bloody name.  If you weren't such a get and give it, Calico Cosmic Wanker," she said as he swung Mia into his shoulder.  The not-girl looked pleased and giggled at Forest.  Forest winked at her but stiffened as she saw the girl's eyes flash as she looked at Law.

Calico made some comment about getting off the roof and headed towards the steps.  She said, "Finally, no more crazy talk."

As they walked down the steps, Law turned and looked at her.  "If I have to take the guy who nearly blew me up by mistake, you're taking the kid. Just saying."

And separating them is going to be a bad thing, she thought with a sigh.

She said, "Hey, Mia, you want to ride with me?  I have a really neat car and it goes wicked fast."

She sent to Calico, in Japanese, Law's not too happy with you almost blowing him up, so you might want to ride with me.  I promise not to bite you again.  Unless you asked for it.

As she went down she felt something off.  As if she was being watched.  Scowling, she sent to Law and Calico, Stop and stay behind me. We're not alone.

She jogged in front of the menfolk and said, "Okay, you blighted wanker, if you're watching us, show yourself."

Saber

Saber sighed and turned to the newcomer.  She said, "Your titles and those who have sent you here are meaningless here.  However your knowledge could be useful."

She took another bite of her doughnut, finishing it.  She said, "As Henry said, please enlighten us about these gene-stealers or whatnot."

Mia

From her spot on the mans shoulder, she began to play with his hair, twirling it between her figers and looking at it. It was almost as if was a toy, but even then she was careful to not pull to hard. “Hey hey, why is your hair two colors?” She asked happily, any sign of her earlier sadness gone.

But then the woman winked at her and talked, but what she said confused her.

Mia looked at Forest with curiosity, “Car? What is a car?” She asked, having no knowledge about the technology of this place. “Is that like a carriage?”

It was a good thing Henry's emotions didn't leak out and that he barely had to try if he wanted to contain them. Because why the hell did people keep walking into his crime scene? He was going to chew out the guys for it this time, he swore.

He turned away from examining the scene to face the man, who was apparently some kind of authority, based on the way he had introduced himself and how he dressed. The Demon had never heard the terms before, so he jumped to the likely conclusion that the newcomer was from yet another universe and had ended in the Nexus by chance. Still, he was barging in on their job, and Henry would've had him leave immediately, if not for the insight he offered on the incident they were currently trying to wrap their heads around. And Tar would not turn down likely options for the who, why, and how of this gruesome scene.

"One, sorry to say whatever authority you belong to does not technically exist here, and in any other case I would've kicked you out and heard you out later. Which brings me to Two: what the hell is a genestealer and how do they usually operate?" Henry asked, folding his arms in front of his chest.

It was the man's first statement that caught Grendel completely off guard, something that hadn't happened since an Ork Warboss had survived having a building dropped on it.

"Doesn't exist?" Grendel asks, "This place...It is beyond the Emperor's light?"

After taking a few moments to process this, Grendel shoves this to the back of his mind. This news can be dealt with later. Now he has become even more certain that this may be the beginnings of a Tyranid infestation, as they were said to have come from some other place, this might in fact be the first contact in this new place.

"Let me begin by saying that Genestealers and other Xenos are outside of my area of expertise, as I am of Ordo Malleus. For aliens, you'll be wanting an Inquisitor of Ordo Xenos. What I know is as follows: Genestealers, nicknamed 'Purestrain Genestealers' for reason I'm not entirely sure of, are created by Hive Fleets, placed on passing Space Hulks, and left drifting through space. Upon arriving on a world, the Genestealer will plant a...seed in the first suitable human host it encounters, by some mechanism I'm unaware of. The host's genome will then be merged with the greater Tyranid genome, hence the term Genestealer. The fusion results in the host becoming completely subservient to the brood, having had their lives before infection completely wiped to create a blank slate of sorts for the brood to control. The host is then encouraged to mate and procreate as much as possible, infecting the gene-pool with their DNA. The brood's psychic network ensure that nobody infected escapes this net. The family will grow, now referred to as a Genestealer Cult, isolates themselves to avoid discovery, with particularly intelligent members of the cult performing necessary tasks to uphold this facade. Eventually, it will be large enough to act as a beacon for the Hive Fleet it originated from. When the Hive Fleet comes close enough, the Genestealer Cult will sabotage the planetary defenses to make invasion easier. Of course, the Hive Fleet will consume them as well, but they're not too dissatisfied with that. Again, if you would like the specifics, you would be better off contacting a member of either the Deathwatch or Ordo Xenos, though neither are likely to have followed me."

Grendel takes another look around the crime scene, "It must be an interesting variant to develop natural weapons such as these, however. Given the nature of the wounds, one would think that the limb that made it was prehensile, as opposed to the rigid quality of a Genestealer's...However, if you are so concerned about your crime scene, why are you letting your fellow eat food at this very same crime scene, while standing over the body itself?!"

Rider entered through the barrier as soon as it was opened, and turned to address Adjutor.

"As some massive mana flash blinded me before the fight really got started, I can't really judge, and considering that I kinda jumped to conclusions about you, I can't really call you out for not thinking of the other possibilities...But...I'm guessing that your existence is fueled by mana, and that the massive mana flash that blinded me was from your Pegasus. In that case...How are you doing on your stores? I can easily provide enough to recompense you for this battle", said Adjutor.

"Erm, well, I don't think this is the place for that....

I'm fine for now, anyway, although I will need a source of prana at some point. My reserves were full when I arrived, and whilst the last battle did use a substantial amount, I can still last for a few days yet."

Rider listened as Faust and Adjutor conversed about going outside.

Well, he did say they were allies before. Not sure why he didn't ask me to protect Sakura, though....

Then, Adjutor turned to her.

"That is, of course, if you'd be willing to stay here," he said.

Rider couldn't help but notice that he was avoiding looking at her, presumably because of her outfit. So, with the battle over, she changed back into her usual casual clothing.

"Of course, I would be glad to protect Sakura. I promise I will not allow her to come to any harm."

Adjutor considers the matter further, then notes that if he intends to assist Caster, he'll probably need all the mana he can get at this point.

"Fair point, I probably shouldn't risk not having enough energy to assist the Sorceror," Adjutor nods, "Later, then."

Thank goodness she's not in that outfit anymore...

Oh, I don't know, this one might be more fun to take off her...

Goddamit, Xarrest, not now! We're in a combat situation!

I can wait. Besides, it could get interesting, especially with some creative use of the Arm-

Adjutor offers the Darkling nothing but supremely annoyed silence, which gets a laugh from the latter, but not much else.

Fine, fine. This unworthy pervert shall take his bon-

There are people at risk in this hospital!

With a Conceptual Shield backed by their presence already established and anchored using the building itself? That's a lame attempt at an excuse and you know it. But why bother? You're going out there anyway, so why not enjoy what our minds can dream up while you still can.

Shaking his head to clear the unwanted images forming within, Adjutor heads out of the lobby, opening up a rift in the shield large enough for him to pass through before taking a moment to prepare himself for the fight. Noting that Caster seems to be powering up something rather powerful, Adjutor prepares another Shield Concept, waiting for the right opportunity to blast the black-armored fighter away from the hospital, as he seems to be the one who would be the least likely to back down.

"Sold them off?!" had Henderson been drinking any tea at that point, he might have spit it out. As it is, it is fortunate he isn't drinking any.

"Rattus, I have no intention of selling them," he says, "That's actually part of the reason I wanted my retirement payment in Lawn Gnomes, so I always have something interesting to look at. As for the namblies," he turns to Yukina, "Thieves, certainly. They call themselves, 'Disciples of the Yellow King'. Something about some guy named...what was it...'Hastur' I think. The Detective mentioned something about something he called an 'Outer God'. Of course, then he went all crazy and I ended up running him over with a Tanker... And they've got the ugliest poodles. They're so ugly, if you didn't know they were poodles, you'd think they were some beast from what Fink called 'That which man as never meant to know'...Well, at least, until the Detective got him while he was acting all crazy. And that dapper fellow, Breckinridge, mentioned something about being them enemies of some...Cthulu cult, I think. Well, if they weren't before, they certainly are after we dropped that one nambly's yacht on that dinner party. Hah!" Henderson sits back as he revels in the memory.

Disciples of the Yellow King. Hastur. The Detective. Outer God. Fink. That Which Man was Never Meant To Know. Breckenridge. Cthulhu. Ugly poodles. Hearing these terms disturbed the couple after Henderson discussed some more details regarding the thievery of his antique lawn gnomes. It seemed to them as if there was something really wrong about this simple incident of stealing, and it was not just because cultists stole his antiques. There was an awkward silence that emanated in the living room, as Rattus and Yukina pondered if they should delve deeper into his story.

But, being a curious woman, Yukina decided to press on. "But why would cultists steal your gnomes, oji-san?"

"I assume that this cult had taken it upon themselves to do burglary in order to fund their operations." Rattus said. "Since the stolen items were antiques that value of $40,000 in total, it is more likely that they stole them, sold them off and then use the money as assets for their group."

"Then where would the gnomes be found?" The Japanese lady asked after she drank her cup of tea.

"If I am right about what I said, I suppose we can still get them back, since the only establishments that would accept sales of such ornamental items would be pawnshops." The bespectacled man postulated. " But if the cult hasn't sold off all of their stolen items yet, it's more possible that they are still in store, since there is nothing much a person can do with ornaments but as beautifying displays."

"But then," Yukina then turned to Henderson. "Does this mean that oji-san could still find his prized gnomes?"

LANCELOT

The Berserker roared in impotent fury at the blinding light. He continued his charge, smashing his street sign through the space where his instincts best judged her last location to be. Instead of flailing around aimlessly however, Lancelot spread his legs and held his ground, holding his weapon in front of him in a defensive posture, waiting until he heard the scuffle of feet on the ground or the swish of his enemy’s spear.

"?" The raging madman suddenly calmed down. Mordred had a bad feeling about this, and suspected that one wrong move would made him detect her. She was not most stealthy person, so she decided to supernaturally augment her luck in order to sneak away into more favorable position. She had a last ditch plan, but born out of desperation, To make it work Lancelot would have to regain sight and Mordred to be in safer location.

(She used Contract of Beneficent Fate)

"As for why they'd steal the gnomes," Henderson says, leaning forwards again, "I honestly don't know. And that's not the only thing they've done to me. They also killed two of my friends, James Fink and the Detective. Really, it's more than property rights. It's revenge."

Henderson takes a moment to sip his cup, then nods, "Good stuff, all things considered. The Detective mentioned that these Yellow Cult people were involved in...what was it...trafficking? Whatever it was, he wasn't surprised that they were involved in something related to stealing gnomes. Who knows, maybe they wanted to use them in a sacrifice or something? A nice young man at a Tim 'Ortons earlier told me that they were planning to put them in space, but I've no clue why they would...No..." With that, Henderson pulls the page of the Necronomicon, surprised that it's now a dozen pages, out of his pocket, laying them flat on the table as he turns the pages of eldritch lore around until it fits a certain pattern.

"They wouldn't! They're going to make a...whatever this thing is, using this whole..." Henderson gets up, "Sorry, kids, but I have another muckle-darmed cult to take care of."

With that, he leaves the room with all possible haste, hoping that they'll understand his need for haste.

"Tea was great, considering it wasn't booze!" he calls over his shoulder, hoping to smooth things over ahead of time.

"Ah, oji-san, wait!" Yukina tried to chase him.

However, Rattus waved his hands at her and said, "No, Yukina, let him be." And she did stop.

As they watched the old man walk out of the door and disappear from sight, the businessman mulled over everything that he said to them. There was certainly something going on about the disappearance of Henderson's lawn gnomes, and there was more than what they heard. And especially, there was something with those pages he pulled out from his pocket, as indicated by his surprised expression upon seeing them. If anything else, Rattus was certainly now interested in the case of the Yellow Cultists, and Yukina felt the same.

"What are we going to do now, onii-chan?" the Japanese lady asked. "We would not know any further if we cannot ask him."

"Just let him be, Schwesterchen." Rattus replied. "As for now, this day is done, all we have to do is to take a rest and relax ourselves. Neo just did that earlier than us, so I say that we should do so now. Do you understand?"

Yukina nodded and cheerfully said, "Then it is about time for us to play a game, right?"

"Hhrm?" Rattus was confused. "What game is it, anyway?"

"Uhm... Maybe we can play Super Smash Brothers!" She suggested, smiling sweetly. "That would be fun!"

"Alright, then." Rattus agreed. "I'll go set up the NES."

"Onii-chan, it is in Wii U!"

"Oh, I forgot. I'm sorry."

Ann

"I felt something really old and powerful resonate from this direction. I was going to investigate when my pace was awkwardly broken by our acquaintment just now. Any idea what it was?"

"So you sensed it as well. It seems that I have family here, little angel! We haven't seen each other for quite a while. War has always been very busy with his little games and I'm usually just there to clean up his messes."

Ann glanced over to see that traffic was blocked by a flipped car on their side of the road. She removed her right had from her hold on Sarse and materialized the scythe. Then she swung the flat of the blade at the side of the motorcycle and sent it careening into oncoming traffic. With superhuman speed she dismissed the weapon and resumed her hold on the angel.

"I do hate waiting in traffic and this seems like it will be a bit faster. Hopefully you can weave through traffic well."

Caedia

“Thanks for that.” He said while stretching his arms. “Names Crest, mind helping me up? I’m a bit sore.”

"..." Caedia stood up as the pangs of pain she felt were slowly turned into a dull ache by the armor. She moved towards Crest , grabbed his arm, and pulled him up.

"I am Caedia. I am sorry for firing at you in that building. I am not used to having people other than Pawns fight with me."

An instant was spared to examine him before she moved  back to the tree and began leaning against it. The armor's healing ability was potent but a quick check revealed that her ribs were not fully healed but the bruising was slowly going away.

Lawrence shot a glance at the woman. His eyes and gut told him she was like Forest - dead but moving. He'd heeded her mental warning, feeling his choice to keep the shroud up had been an excellent one. This whole evening was becoming a god damn who's who of supernatural and magical problems.

Christ, another vampire?

It might be a zombie this time.

Shut up... Lawrence let the windy laugh of the Diver echo through his ears as he gripped the K-Bar's handle under his jacket. If it was a corpse, blowing chunks out of it might not make as much of a difference as slashing its joints would. "I think you could either do that or take the damn kid off our hands," Law said. The grumbling sentiment wasn't likely one shared by Calico, but fuck him. He'd gotten Law involved in this mess and by fucking god he was not going to just let that go that easily. Besides that kid screamed bad news to him. Red eyes and everything. If he didn't know better, he'd swear she was possessed instead of the most fucking evil child spirit he'd ever seen. Not that he'd seen all that many. Law felt rather glad he hadn't, if they were all like her.

Forest

The blond canted her head at the other woman and raised her right eyebrow.

No heartbeat and she's not breathing.  Possibly some other sort of vampire . . . Bloody hell.

Forest thought the worse part about coming to the Nexus was the different versions of other beings from other dimensions.  Like there was this pigtailed Japanese school girl vampire who's abilities were utterly terrifying.  She had the ability to unleash a reality of her own making that started to weaken Saber somewhat before the two of them had finished her off.

The worse part was that the poor girl had been in pain the entire time.  Starving, no amount of blood able to sate her thirst and crying for someone named Shiki even as Forest held her hand while Saber delivered the killing blow.  Saber had mentioned something about Dead Apostles and then apologized to Fore for not being able to tell her anymore, other than Archer had "experience" with them.

She also, after a major geek-out moment, had to dust Darla from Buffy the Vampire Slayer last week.

"I guess I owe you explanation why I ended up observing you?"

Forest eyed the mostly unremarkable woman.  Dark hair, brown eyes, and sturdy traveling clothing.  She was the sort of woman who could walk amongst a crowd without a second glance, almost plain even.

"I bloody think you do," the blond drawled in a sardonic voice as she stared down the other woman.

Saber

More than half of the words that this Grendel spoke made little to no sense to Saber.  He was speaking of fantastical things like other worlds, emperors, emperor's light, and then he proceeded to question Saber for eating.  The former king felt heat spread across her cheeks as she glared at Grendel.

"What you are speaking is utter nonsense," the tiny blond said in a steel laden voice,  "Also, we have no Emperor or king of Nexus.  If there was, they would be over thrown within moments of their coronation."

She shook her head and said, "As for my eating at the crime scene I quite careful and know not to contaminate it."

Her emerald eyes met Grendel's as she remembered what Forest suggested to say to once someone questioned her eating habits.  "I have a condition where my metabolism burns at an incredibly high rate.  If I do not have proper nutrition my glucose levels will drop dangerously low and I will become weak, dizzy, and ill-tempered.  And I am not one that is pleasant to be around when I am ill-tempered.  I am not a barbarian slob spraying crumbs and drool everywhere.  If I thought I would contaminate the scene, I would eat elsewhere."

Deborah

"First, I suspect you are Kindred from a Clan that I have never encountered before. For a researcher of Kindred lore like me it is a discovery that would make me recognized around our kind so it's natural that would pique my curiosity" Deborah used terminology which might have been unfamiliar for Forest, but she was actually convinced she was one of her kind. "Second, I'm for the first time in the first city, so I'm not familiar how Kindred society is organized here. As for why I hid my presence, I felt it safer to observe you for now than simply approach people I don't know, but I guess I got discovered."

EMIYA SHIROU

Shirou couldn’t keep a small smile off of his face as Mia gently tugged on his hair, curious as to why it was two colors.

“Magic,” he said, turning his head up to look at the girl on his shoulder as best as he could, blowing a few locks of her long white hair out of his face. “Don’t tell anyone this, but I’m a magus.” Forest turned to ask Mia if she wanted to ride in her car, when Shirou heard her voice in his head, speaking in Japanese.

”Law's not too happy with you almost blowing him up, so you might want to ride with me.  I promise not to bite you again.  Unless you asked for it.”

The freelancer stopped dead on the stairs, staring at the blond vampire. She was able to speak directly into his mind, which opened up a whole new can of worms. Perhaps she could read his mind, or even mentally take control of his actions, there was no way to be able to tell. Suddenly he wasn’t at all interested in getting into the same car as her, but the other options were to ride with Law or go out on his own, but he needed Forest to take him to Saber and taking Mia with him into Law’s vehicle could be disastatous.

Shirou kept staring, suppressing the thrill that ran through him again at the thought of meeting Saber as Forest sniffed out what was apparently another vampire. Lawrence muttered something about the newcomer taking Mia, presumably out of spite for the white haired girl on his shoulder. He paid it no mind, more interested in what this new vampire was saying, something about clans and “kindred”, which was an English word he did not understand. It didn’t sound like what he knew about Dead Apostles.

Mia

Mia’s eye widened at the man’s admittance, but inside there was much confusion. Even as a child she knew, Magic was the domain of the Half-demons and not of man.

But all of that was quickly pushed aside by her like of this man, there was no way he would be a mean half demon after all, they were always mean to her. The fact that he could do magic made him only more amazing in her eyes.

“That’s amazing” she finally said as the man carrying her stopped and turned to look at the nice woman.

He had a weird look on his face, and Mia began to pout. Why was the nice man being weird?

“You ok mister?” She asked as she lightly knocked on his head with her knuckle, almost as if he was a door and she was checking to see if anyone was there.

She then saw the new arrival, but Mia didn’t care, more worried about the man who was so nice to her.
