"Actually," Michael says, now serious, "No. I really am immortal. Don't ask me how old I am, I've forgotten how long it's been since I forgot."

Lorenzo’s eyes widened at the man’s incredible words. Chuckling, he rose and gave Michael a hearty slap on the back.

“You’re a funny lad, I like ya.”,

“Immortal... wouldn’t it be nice?”, muttered the pirate as he tried to hold back another wave of laughter, this time with at least some success.

Abigail

The half-Fae girl held up her finger at Archer, shook it and said, "Vanilla is an enhancer when used properly.  Especially in anything that's remotely pastry like.  You always put a dab of vanilla in pancakes, no matter if they have fruit in them or not."

Abby looked at Law and asked, "Did Death look like Brad Pitt?"

Forest

"I'm just a doctor and you looked pale, so I thought I should give you a blood test. Now, you aren't afraid of needles, are you?"

Forest sighed as an icicle shot towards her head.  She tilted her head to move out of the way, but instead of a sharp projectile that would be fairly easy to dodge, the ice melted.  And she got splashed in the face with icy water.

Indigo eyes narrowed as she pivoted and twisted the man's arm into a reverse arm lock.  Then as easily as guiding a baby, she began to usher him into the kitchen.  "You need to work on your witty banter," she said with a shake of her head, "And I want to know why the bloody hell you came after me."

"Pfffffft, you should have seen the look on your fa-ow ow ow ow!", Richard yelped in pain as his arm twisted back painfully.

She was clearly much stronger than he was, of that there was no doubt. But of course, he was used to this. Instead of struggling, the man simply followed along into what seemed to be a kitchen.

"Would it kill you to be more gentle? I mean, you are already dead and all, so I doubt most thing would kill you, but the point still OW!."

"You need to work on your witty banter," she said with a shake of her head, "And I want to know why the bloody hell you came after me."

"My witty banter is quite excellent thank you very much. As for why I am here... well, there are many reasons for that milady... word flies quickly around these parts. To keep it short and sweet and simple for you to understand, let's say I just can't allow you to do as you please any longer. "

Ito smirked at the fool’s obvious taunt. He almost didn’t want to gut him like a fish. Almost. A vein popping from his forehead, the ninja played cool despite the irritation he felt.

“Running away?  I have no idea what you are talking about. I told you that you should use your head more. For all your talk about me being slow, you’re not showing much better my friend.”

Sighing, he pointed to the area where he was sleeping earlier, an almost bemused smile crawling up his face. “If that looked like trying to surprise anyone to you, I would suggest new glasses, or eyes.”

Rider sighed as the idiotic violent woman rejected her offer, acting like she was unworthy and needed to "earn" the right to know the answer to her question.

Very well..., she thought.

If the moron did not wish to explain her reasoning, then she would simply not get the information she wanted. Rider certainly had no intention of taking this bloodthirsty idiot to see her master, especially not when she was in such a distressed state.

As soon as the woman addressed Vanguard, accepting that their fight could not continue, Rider prepared to take Vanguard and leave. But, to her astonishment, Vanguard instead turned and challenged the woman to finish the fight.

Rider glared at him, clearly outraged at him putting his desire to fight over his ability to protect Sakura. Before Rider could speak up, though, the weird man who had approached them chanting some bizarre song and who smelled distinctly of urine addressed Vanguard.

If you don't want to be a nice ghost and leave to Heaven on your own before the sadist duo have their way with you, I just need to smash the armor you cling to so hard like momma's boy to her skirt", he said, drawing his wooden sword. "Sorry, no round two here and now, it ain't red light district".

"Red light district"? What the hell is he talking about?

This idiot was seriously intending to fight them? Whilst Rider was, of course, wary of underestimating him, he certainly didn't seem like he was going to be much of a threat. And, with Vanguard taking the attitude he had, she was inclined to leave him and this idiot woman to deal with him, and each other.

"What the hell are you talking about?" she asked the man, bemused.

Then, she addressed Vanguard.

"Well, I am going to meet up with our master. You know, the one you pledged to protect only a few hours ago. I'm sure you two can deal with this idiot without my help, and if obtaining a 'glorious' death from a meaningless battle with this woman is more important than protecting Sakura then I will leave you to do as you wish. If you manage to survive this idiocy, then I am sure you can find your way back to the house", she said, clearly annoyed with his lack of regard for his role as Sakura's protector.

Faust

Faust hurried towards Sakura’s location in spirit form as fast as he could, phasing through any obstacles with ease. He was worried about her; she hadn’t been like this in a while. The last time had been more than a year ago. He’d hoped that would be the end of it, but it had started up once more recently, and Rider’s appearance seemed to have only exacerbated the issue. She hadn’t been this desperate since they’d first arrived here three years ago...

She’s been searching for three years and hasn’t found a trace of him, I’ll be shocked if this turns out any differently than any of the other times. Faust thought to himself. This can only end badly, she’ll just end up heartbroken once again. He’d kept these thoughts to himself, obviously. He didn’t know how badly Sakura would react to being told this, and didn’t want to find out. He’d play along once more and try to keep her out of danger.

As he neared Sakura’s location, Faust received a mental message from some of the bug familiars informing him that they’d found a boy fitting the description. Looking through their eyes, he saw the boy was approaching Tokyo Tower, and that he indeed matched the-rather detailed descriptions Sakura had given him many times over the years. He only had one response: “Huh...”

After a short while, Faust found Sakura--sitting in the middle of a sidewalk looking up at the sky for some reason.

“Sakura, get up.” Faust said to her. “I’ve found him, he’s near Tokyo Tower.” She looked at him in mute shock. “Come now, you’ve been waiting for three years, and all you can do is stare at me? Let’s go. The sooner we get moving the sooner you can see him.”

Sakura

Sakura looked at Faust with confusion. She didn’t know exactly how to react at first. Her unending search could finally be over. After three long, hard years, her goal seemed to be almost within reach. I should be relieved, so why am I feeling so anxious? She wondered. Will I disappear once more if I find him? Will fate let us reunite? Do I even deserve him? It’s been three years, what if he’s moved on? What would I do then? These questions and many more writhed through her brain, tormenting her with doubt and worry as tears of both joy and fear clouded her vision.

“Sakura.” Faust’s firm voice shook her out of the fog. “Come on, let’s go. There’s no time to waste.”

Sakura nodded vigorously, “Ok! You’re right, who knows what could happen in this city and what kind of shape he’s in. Let’s worry about specifics later.” She said more to convince herself than anything else. “How far away is he? I want to get there as fast as we can, ok!” She raised her voice near the end of the sentence, eliciting a few strange looks from passersbys as they watched her yell some more at thin air.

Faust materialized in front of her and offered her a hand. “I can get us there quickly, but it won’t be subtle at all-” He began.

“I don’t care, do what you need to do!” She snapped at him. Taking his hand and using it to stand herself up, she returned to a much softer voice. “Thank you...” Her voice was so quiet it could almost be a whisper. Looking directly at Faust, she continued speaking. “ I-need to go find and save Shirou now.” She haltingly said. “You were right, there’s no time to waste. That’s why we need to get there as fast as possible.”

Faust lifted her up with strength far exceeding that which one would expect of somebody with his build and jumped to the top of a nearby department store emblazoned with a big red sign designating it as ‘Spatula City’. Pointing his hand at the roof, a large magical circle began glowing on the roof that quickly summoned a large winged demon that was reminiscent of a wyvern. It roared at them before lowering its head and bowing in supplication. Ignoring the screams of the people below them, Faust climbed up onto its back and muttered a second spell causing both Sakura and him to glow for a brief second. After giving the demon a mental command to fly towards the large spire in the distance, the demon took off and sped at inhuman speeds towards its destination.

Sakura watched as Faust summoned his monster without batting an eye. She was oblivious to the screams of terror it elicited. Her entire being was now focused on Shirou, everything else was secondary. In her single minded obsession, she even forgot to inform Rider that anything had changed. She offered no resistance when he pulled her up onto it and asked no questions about the spell he had cast on them. Wind whipped her hair around as she held onto the beast for dear life.

As they approached the tower the monster landed on the ground with a loud thud, disappearing as fast as it had appeared as soon as they got off. Looking around feverously, Sakura quickly spotted Shirou’s distinctive ginger hair. She ran towards him as quickly as possible, throwing herself at him.

Lorenzo looked blankly at Michael for a good moment, standing silent as he took in what the man just told him. With a lazy slap to the back of the man's head, the pirate sighed before downing yet another glass.

"You don't need to be immortal for that to happen, silly.", he spoke solemny as if detached and uncaring. "Besides, to be eternal means to be able to enjoy all pleasures the world has to offer without limits. It never ceases to impress me, it seems there is something new to desire every day, and to be immortal is to be able to desire even more! Isn't it... wonderful?"

Noel

Quote
"How about this 'Hakumen'?" Mathew asked, trying to keep this ball rolling.

“Hakumen is an enormous white suit of armor, more than two meters tall!” Noel continued, raising her hand high above her head to demonstrate. “There is no opening in the helmet he wears, instead he has eyes all over his armor, it’s eerie. He has a sword as long as he is tall, and he wields it effortlessly. I don’t know if I could beat him even if I used all my strength. He’s a monster. But he’s not evil! I didn’t mean monster as in a bad person, just really really strong!” Noel corrected herself; she was obviously flustered.

Even if he could understand her displeasure at his insistence to fight, Vanguard could not bear to have Rider take a warrior’s resolve lightly. The air froze for a second and all seemed to be somewhat heavier than before, as if an alien force was crushing all around the warrior.

“You misunderstand my words, I will not fight this opponent with my current state. I meant to state my intention to fight her here, where this clash has terminated. ”, the man of metal spoke, his voice’s cold calmness far more crushing than any man’s ire.

“However, dare sully an honorable bout with insult again, and I will smite you down at once with all my might. Your disrespect towards your opponent is nothing short of appalling, of that you should be ashamed.”

By the time these words left him, the atmosphere took a lighter tone, turning his back to Rider, Vanguard now took more comforting attitude.

“Now go, if you are needed then fulfill your oath as your duty commands. We will meet in the manor at dawn, but if I am needed, you may summon me and I shall heed. I doubt it would be much of a challenge for you, given your speed. Please understand, I cannot leave this battle as it is, it is simply something I cannot go back upon. I rather you reach Sakura with haste, I shall only slow you down. For now, I will enjoy myself and this world.”

“May fortune be with you and our master, Rider.”, he added before saluting her.

Oh, I see..., thought Rider, rather confused by his bizarre choice of wording.

"OK, it seems like I misunderstood your intentions. In that case, I do not mind what you do, as long as you are there when Sakura needs you", she replied as she prepared to leave. "However, understand that I care not for duty or honour. I serve Sakura because she deserves to be happy and safe, and I will do what I must to protect her."

"In any case, thank you for your warm wishes, and I hope you enjoy your battle."

With that, Rider turned and ran towards Sakura, wanting to comfort her upset master and make sure she was OK. As she approached Sakura's location, though, she noticed another magical signature appear next to her, before her magical signature moved rapidly up onto the roof of a nearby building, where there was a sudden influx of magic. Reverting to her non-battle outfit and glasses, Rider looked up and noticed a demonic being looking somewhat like a wyvern.

She must have summoned Faust. But, why is she in such a hurry? she wondered as she followed after the demon, easily keeping pace with it despite her lack of any transportation.

As she approached the Tokyo Tower, she noticed a familiar ginger hairstyle.

Shirou? she thought, as the monster carrying Sakura landed nearby.

She saw Sakura looking around for a moment, before running at full speed towards her love. Rider smiled a smile of pure happiness as she approached them, careful not to disturb Sakura's happy moment, hoping that this would give the poor girl the happiness she deserved.

Acacia

The swordswoman ignored the bloodthirsty and impatient song of her children as she turned around to face the intruder again. Acacia held back a grimace as her right arm began to ache. Hauke could move faster than her by far but the sudden movement and the lack of control considering she was just being pulled around by the blade was a bit painful.

"Regardless of what you say your intentions were you're trespassing and we cannot be sure of how long you were here and what you were doing here. I need you to submit yourself to a mental scan of the last few days just to make sure you don't have anything planned that would result in problems for the Elites."

Now it's Michael's turn to laugh a mirthless laugh, patting his companion's shoulder in return.

"As impossible as it may seem," he says, sobering up, "It may seem that way at first, but eventually you'll run out, and you can't always find new pleasures every day if you restrict yourself to the pleasures of the mind."

With that, he takes a look around at the ruined bar, at the mountain of shattered bones and armor, "Fighting, however, never gets old."

With that, the immortal's voice seems to take on an almost reverent tone, "Fighting, can't get old. Every day, you can always fight someone new, or you can fight an old foe, whatever catches your fancy. You can take on those weaker than you, toy with them, see how they adapt to your strength. You can take on those stronger than you, pit all your mettle and all your skill against their raw strength and power, push yourself to your absolute limits, and then beyond those, just to know that you can! You can take on someone whose strength equals yours, and see whose mind falters, whose technique slips, and how long it takes. The first kind of fight is what you might do if you're feeling bored and in need of a quick fix. The latter two, however, are and always will be the best. In the end, you aren't really challenging your opponent in those kinds of fights, so much as you're challenging yourself. You're daring yourself to last longer, strike harder, think faster, push yourself further. No matter what kind of delusions you may have about yourself, you will know who you are without any such falsehoods when you fight. You will know your opponent for who they are, no matter what falsehoods they might hide behind, when they fight."

At this point, Michael takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly before allowing a smirk as he leans back in his chair.

"That child, Neo," Michael starts, "He hides behind bravado and no small measure of belligerence. But, truly, he is rather...immature. He cannot start his own wars, rather he waits for them to come to him in a vain attempt to claim the moral high ground, thus why he is always so abrasive. The mystifying part, however, is how he seem surprised when someone actually lashes out, like he is blameless, but I suppose that's part of the act. He is a bully at best."

"That girl, Yukina," Michael continues, "She hides behind forgiveness and trying to please others. Truly, she is...haunted. By the ghost of her dead mother, no less. She feels that she must live up to her mother's image, but in doing so sacrifices herself and...I couldn't really get much more."

"Anyway, as to your question," the immortal says, "It may sound like it would be wonderful, and it is, at first. After a while, though, it tends to get rather...boring. Coming here, though, should be worth the drudgery back in Orthos. This new place ought to hold plenty of new things to experience, plenty of people to meet, and plenty more to fight. All in all, I can't say ending up here is all that bad."
