Cole faced down the swordsman, more than a little impressed that he managed to evade all that even as he backpedaled as quickly as he could, but then a new voice echoed through the area, sending an involuntary chill down the Conduit's spine prompting him to glance behind him and catch a glimpse of the guy from earlier.

He started to turn around when the ground suddenly fell out from under him, strange hands dragging him into the ground. Regardless, he managed to get a few shots off before sinking beneath.

Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald

"What the?"

An illusion? How could it have gotten past his bounded fields?

No, it only took a glance but he realized it then and there. This was a magic far stronger than anything he was used to dealing with.

Immediately his body shot into defensive mode, the silvery liquid that coated his body shivering as it prepared to respond to anything that may arise.

But then the true transformation.

"A Reality Marble!?"

His every sense was thrown into a daze as warning bells ran in his head. He felt nauseous from the sheer speed that the tables had turned.

It would be more accurate to say that he had no bounded fields in the first place, they were like paper to this monstrosity.

Only the eldest of magi or perhaps the top ten of the Ancestors could create something of this magnitude so quickly while also evading his dectection.

He needed to escape, and quickly, before whatever was watching him decided to get serious.

He began to take steps backwards from whence he had came, the door that led to his latest supporter, if he could make it to an open window, he'd have a chance.

But who would dare interrupt his actions? If what this monstrosity had said rang true the hotel was already lost. What kind of madman would take such actions? Or more importantly, in this new world who would even know of Kayneth's name?

"What are you planning Grenth? You dare try to stop me with some child's game?"

He had already turned  around as his limbs were reinforced with magic pushing his body past the limits of a normal human. Though physical tasks were not his specialty by using sheer skill with magecraft he could match if not surpass the efforts of any of his pupils let alone lecturers.

The door was just a few inches away, he didn't bother to open with his hand.

Using sheer speed and reinforced strength he would break down the door before the creature could react!

Abigail

"Well, I should head back to the station anyway.  I was called there to do work, but that probably won't be for a little while," Abigail said rubbing the back of her neck. She blushed at Law's faux pause and serious Freduean slip.

She did grin and said, "So I gave you my muffin and a ride.  We should just really go on a date at this point."

"Maybe. I guess. If you want, sure I think." Law's ears turned red as he mumbled this out, before clearing his throat. "And um, anyway, yeah, I guess this can wait for me to get pants and shit, right?"

"I would think the lady would prefer you without pants after the date, not before and during." Archer's sarcastic voice came clearly from the hallway, the tall bowman leaning against the wall nonchalantly. "But before you go, you and I need a talk. I've got an offer for you."

The scruffier man stiffened as he gazed at the bowman, hand reaching for a coat pocket and gun that wasn't there anymore. "What sort of deal?"

"A contract. I'd rather stay in this place then just fade away, and you seem to be my best option to make a deal with considering your... other guest."

The hairs at the back of Law's neck rose up. This could end badly.

Gintoki

His eyes widened as his foe was grabbed by something, disappearing underground. Gintoki avoided the last volley fired by the man in spite of this unexpected development leaving him puzzled. "Huh, maybe those whom he has killed dragged him to the underworld? Serves the bastard right..."

"I should call tax robbers, I cannot leave the bodies like that" he said, intent on reaching the nearest phone box and call the police, if such organization existed in the city. Maybe he was too late, but at least those poor people could be given a proper burial.

Caedia

The Arisen reached out and grabbed her bow but it felt strange. She experimentally he'd her bow out and tried to create a bolt but all her hands held were empty air. "You broke it. That bow was infused with the magick of a dragon's breath. I had to kill a dragon for that bow."

Her tone was completely calm but her twitching hands showed her barely restrained anger. Then she used the bow like a makeshift club and swung it at Crest's head.

Urthemiel

The Old God continued to weave through the city as it avoided the blasts of dark fire that the pursuing dragon was releasing until a great light illuminated his enemy and it was almost like the world was illuminated by a second sun. Urthemiel immediately landed on a street and dropped both of his passengers before reverting back to his human form. If the undead dragon wasn't dead again it would be best to be more discreet

Ann

Death seemed as if it was about to answer the teen's question but then reality rippled and Ann began to shimmer. "Oh, I suppose the city has decided to send me back. It must really dislike me."

Her face twisted into a frown as she quickly began to vanish. "It hasn't even been a few days and they're already whining. Joy." Then without another word Death was pushed out of the Nexus.

Tohuw Balagan

The demon smirked before walking slowly towards the other man, removing his hat before calling out to him. He had to admit, that man was quite skilled, perhaps a warrior.

"Good moves there, son." he said while taking a slight bow. "You're not too hurt from that, are you?"

Suiren

Suiren waited patiently as the tea was prepared, and during it she thought about this “Butler”. He was interesting, very respectful and simple from what she has gathered so far. That was good, she liked simple.

And then the tea was done and put in front of her, and slowly she reached out and picked up the cup. She inhaled the steam and let out a sigh, before taking a small sip of the liquid. It was warm, the warmth flowing through her body, counteracting the cold of the snow.

She lowered the cup from her lips and closed her eyes, allowing her mind to become calm for a moment. Peace, warmth, calm, the softly falling snow all around them.

Her eyes opened slightly as she looked at the liquid in the cup with her barely opened eyes. She was a picture of grace and peace. A far cry from her brilliant and excited smile she often wore. In this moment you could tell there was far more to this woman then her love of battle.

“Thank you very much. The tea is very soothing.” She said in a subdued manner, then she softly put the tea back on the table, “So, what is it you wanted to discuss.”

Crest

“Huh?” was all crest could let out before the bow smacked into his temple, making him lose balance from the surprise impact.

“FUCK!” He screamed as he fell onto the ground and held a hand to his head, he felt some blood, the impact must have broken the skin.

“Aghhh” He groaned as he raised himself to his feet, keeping a glare on his attacker, “Fuck, that was a cheap shot.”

Mia

Mia maneuvered around the building, PARIAH’s making paths though the infested walls before closing them behind her. And soon she found herself in the room the man came from. And then, with Silver in her hand and its sheath formed on her back she began to play with the occupants.

And as she played she softly sung.

“Laughing echoed as the knife dug. Blood spurt as the body stayed snug. “ Silver arched, cutting off the jaw of someone about to scream.

“The laughing the laughing echoed through the hill, and with it the urges were made well.” One tried to run but they tripped on the rug. The demon in the shape of a girl skipped over to the man, Silver flashing though him until nothing was left but red.

“Smiling smiling she took off the head, giggling giggling she put a rock instead.” She giggled as another servant of the man ran to the window, trying to jump in panic. But from the floor burst tentacles, covering all the windows and crushing her between them.

“Then she hung the head of the one named Stan, who was without doubt a family man.” She continued to sing, as she spun with her arms stretched out, as if experiencing snow for the first time. And then the door burst open.

“And so she killed the one she called dad, then she ran into the demon lands.” She finished and turned to the man. The lights were dead, the wiring damaged by PARAIH infestation, and windows covered by the tentacles, and the only light in the room was from her slightly glowing silver blade and her brilliant and glowing red eyes.

“Nono Mister! this is out of bounds! Find somewhere else to hide ok?” She spoke to the man who burst in joyfully. “Tick-tock, Tick-tock, Tick-tock. Time is running out.” She said as she turned to the man.

The perfectly clean Silver sitting in her hands as they met behind her back, and her clothing, hair and face stained in red. The smell of blood and guts filling the room.

“We are going to have lots of fun! Ok mister?” She finished with a wide and innocent smile.

Caedia

The Arisen simply gave an annoyed huff before she restrained the rest of her annoyance and anger. Then she frowned and grew a bit somber as she traced te edges of the bow. "You broke something irreplaceable. There will never be a bow like this ever again."

Abigail

The redhead blushed and said, "I didn't mean right now!  I mean, I have to help the police chase down a monster in the sewers.  Plus I'm not giving up a chance to meet Saber either!"

Then there was that voice and Abigail felt her blood run cold.  There was something about Archer that was just off.  Something she couldn't put her finger on, and it wasn't just the fact she could sense his intent to use Law to his own gain.

He is a spirit made flesh.  He is against the natural order.  Souls should not be tampered with.  Let the dead stay dead . . .

Yet the more she cast her senses out towards Archer she realized there was no rest for Archer.  She could sympathize with him, even though he was messing up her empathy with his disjointed emotions, she didn't want him to drag Law into his own Special Hell.

Automatically she grabbed Law's arm and said, "Don't.  Please.  You don't know what he is and what he's asking."

Shadowkhan

The corrupted shadowkhan screamed, a shrill twisted sound echoing out of its throat. It swung around, knocking its former oni kin out of the way like fodder as it dove into darkness, dissipating into immaterial smoke. The remaining shadowkhan shook in unease and hesitation, scrambling out of the way as the darkness in the alley stirred and moved.

Suddenly, like an animal, the corrupted ninja leapt out of the high shadows, bladed arms and spiked body aimed down at the staff-wielding man, twisting unnaturally in the air.

Still on her perch, Rachel clicked her tongue and put away her binoculars. It wasn't enough that the guy with the person carrifying the target was like the love child of Bruce Lee and Sun Wukong, one of the shadowkhan had to go and get itself taken over by whatever the hell had come from the chalice they were supposed to steal. She wasn't sure the fact it was trying to viciously murder the man was a good or a bad thing, because it might well turn its sights on the rest of the ninjas next - or worse, the person carrying the artifact, whom Rachel had the sudden feeling was probably kind of important to use the thing.

"Ignore those two, just take the girl and the cup," she relayed to the one shadowkhan that had remained in the rooftop hearing her commands for them. "Now."

Despite the oni's momentary hesitation, it responded to her forcefulness and vanished. Turning away, Rachel laid a briefcase down next to her and opened it. Hoping things weren't going to get more complicated, she began to quickly assemble her gun from its separated parts.

Butler

Pleased with himself at Suiren's reaction and words of praise, Butler couldn't help but make his personal impression of a smile, curving his head to the angle that would place just the right curvature on his lipless mouth. The glinting from the depths of his eye softened like a candle for a moment, before it was back to a stern, strong fire. His voice resounded accordingly.

"I have been looking for a worthy master since I arrived here. And I believe I have found her." He took one step, then another towards Suiren, and looked deep into her powerful eyes before bowing deeply, and asking: "Would you allow me the honor of serving you, lady Suiren?"

Cole

Still entombed in the earth, a small part of Cole couldn't help but marvel at how it felt like he was submerged underwater, but there wasn't the familiar pain of self-electrocution that came part and parcel with going in water ever since he'd gained his new powers. The rest of him was still boiling over, for lack of a better term.

Adjutor

To his surprise, Ann simply vanished before she could even answer his question, leaving him alone with the now-ticked-off Mordred.

...That's it? She just does... that out of nowhere and then just up and vanishes?!

The teen could feel something starting to simmer in him, something he couldn't recall feeling within recent memory. Anger. Anger at her, now useless with her gone. Anger at himself, for being rendered helpless without even being able to put up a token resistance, for those urges that had welled up in him, however briefly they had remained. Anger at that non-human for her foolish generalizations and her own hypocrisy in calling him out on preaching a gospel of tolerance while she preached one of intolerance. All of it simmering just beneath the surface.

Deciding that just standing here would do nothing to help, the teen turns around and starts making his way back to the Compound, on foot this time, armor only barely masking the teen's current disposition.

...You realize that it's not your fault, right? She was way stronger than us, and didn't really give us a chance to slip into a shadow without taking her with her.

Which we did anyway.

It was either that or have that happen to us in public, out on the street, right in front of a police station that just hired us as consultants.

So all we managed was to make this less humiliating.

...Look...you just need to...

And we're still...god damn, I need a shower.

Eh?

I fucking stink.

...Well, it matches all those Hunts where we ended up finding a-

Don't.

Sorry. But, really, I think you should just take a moment and-

And what?! Forget this happened? Just ignore it and carry on with my day?

Well, she's kinda gone, so there's not much we can do about it.

...Maybe, but...

...You know, we've dealt with a lot of Monsters over the course of our relatively short career, but we've never stayed behind to pick up the pieces.

...

Adjutor?

...Did we really save anyone? All we ever did was kill the thing that caused their suffering. Nothing to try to help any survivors move past what happened to them...

Honestly, I'd say that was a pretty good start. Let's face it, we're not some kind of savior, or some kind of miracle-working saint, nothing as noble as that, and I doubt we ever will be. What we're doing already? That's the best we can do. So that's what we'll keep doing.

Stopping for a moment to try to collect himself, Adjutor sighs inside the armor, taking a moment to bring the simmering anger back down to manageable levels before continuing on his way.

Irisviel von Einzbern

Irisviel was driving through the city as fast as she could, expertly dodging traffic and weaving through lanes to avoid cars. She loved the feeling of going fast, if she had looked at the speedometer, it would have read easily over 150 kph. She laughed, blissfully unaware she had just sped through a plethora of red lights, nearly causing several accidents. As she approached a wall of stopped cars waiting for the light, she took a quick check to make sure the sideroad was clear of people walking before veering onto the concrete pathway, narrowly avoiding a catastrophic collision.

Barely slowing down, she turned a corner towards the police station, unable to see the black armored man just around the corner before she collided with him, sending him flying. She slammed on the brakes, sending herself into a controlled spin, stopping right in front of the now prone man.

“Oh god, are you ok? She leaned over and put her ear to his chest, hearing the faint sound of a beat through the cold black armor. She sighed with relief, and quickly cast a rudimentary healing spell, hoping to stabilize him. “Oh, this is bad...”

Michael

Michael couldn't help but quirk an eyebrow at the sight of the corrupted ninja decimating its fellows with a scream.

...Well that was nice of him...

Then it vanishes, the shadows themselves stirring and moving like a living being.

And he can shadow-walk. Wonderful.

No sooner had the thought cross his mind than the corrupted being leaped from the shadows, bladed arms and spiked body presenting an immediate threat to the immortal as it twisted through the air towards him.

Giving the being a flat look, Michael widens his stance and lashes out with the staff, the hook catching on an arm as Michael pivoted, bringing the staff down to slam the being face-first into hard concrete off to the side, retracting the staff immediately before impact and bringing it around before extending it again just in time to bring the twelve-foot long staff down on the back do the being's head with all the force he could muster.

Adjutor

Caught up in his introspection, the teen noticed the sound of the engine coming dangerous close just as a car came almost out of nowhere. On reflex, Adjutor managed to move away enough to avoid a head-on collision, but didn't have enough time to dodge completely. The impact knocked the teen out as he was sent flying with the sound of a few bones snapping from the impact, amongst other injuries, before coming to a rolling stop, unaware of the woman leaving the car and checking his pulse.

The healing magic, however, seemed to have been...amplified, healing up all of the minor injuries with relative ease and eliminating most of the internal bleeding. The broken bones were still a problem, he was still unconscious, and some injuries persisted, but he was at least stabilized.

Natara

The Caretaker had been momentarily stunned by the her sudden drop and the corruption of the creature but now her mind was focused and racing. Whatever properties this creature had were most likely altered and enhanced by the Taint which was troubling but it didn't take too much. If it was incapacitated she could draw the Taint out of it using The Chalice and they could leave seeing as how the kin of the entity had apparently fled.

Her grip on The Chalice tightened and she prepared herself to utilize one of the Rites of the Damned. To draw the corruption of the prisoner towards one's self was not the safest nor the most encouraged course of action but it was necessary.

Noel

Noel continued to back away from Vanguard, ready to punish any unwanted advances. As he threw off his cape she turned around and began to run as fast as she could, blowing a pink flower themed whistle she had produced from her pocket. She ran blindly for about five minutes before turning around to check if he had followed her.
