"I do apologize, but I am rather unfamiliar with Necromancy, that is the purview of the Giovanni, not we the Tremere. However, one thing about what you said puzzles me, Gudrun. As far as I am aware, Awakened have no need for the trappings of ancient sorceries, such as runes and the like, for the most part. From what I heard from my childe, who once was a mage, they only used them to focus their will when they were inexperienced, or when it was a particularly difficult magic.  In the end, I was under the impression that it was the fact that mages could bend the world with their will alone that brought their magic about. Is that not the case for you?" I asked, testing her to see if my hypothesis was correct.

Giova-what? She didn't hear of them either. Truly, it only confirmed her hypothesis they were from different worlds when she told her about Awakened of her world. "My magic does not stem from my will alone. I'm a conduit between this imperfect world and the supernal world of higher truths.", she couldn't resist correcting her misconception.

"And while I don't need to use symbolism of an occult tradition, it helps. So above, as below. The truths of the supernal have their pale reflections in the mundane world and in reverse certain symbols resonate better with certain truths than others. "

What also Noriko noted is that her childe used to be a Mage too. Was the blood sorceress interested in her because she wanted to "recruit" more? She had already a safeguard in form of Seras. While she wouldn't mind a second insurance, that could complicate things. Especially as Victoria could even try to maneuver her subtly into position where she had no choice, but to accept Embrace. An accident, a bout of bad luck. But that was her suspicion after all. She would not confirm that until the vampire hinted furthermore she was interested in turning her or proposed such arrangement directly.

Aisha

In contrast to the laughing Child who had begun to stand Aisha remained sitting. She took out her knife and began to cut her palm in the same place over and over as the blood pooled in her hand. This time she spoke quietly, albeit with a directness that she had lacked before. Now what left her lips was a mixture of the sounds of every organism that had ever lived. "Is it really so hard to believe? You are in a strange place governed by even stranger laws. If you really want to see that this isn't a joke then you may drink."

Ghost Child

It took a few moments for the eyeless being to process the story before nodding his head with all the wisdom of a sage king. Then he began to roll, twist, and flip about in the air as he spoke. "That was a really easy question, grandpa. People are people because they're people. If they're not humans they have to be something else. Like dessert! People are like normal cake. And then you have all the different kinds of people like me or magicians and we make up all the slightly different flavors. But all the other not people are different desserts. Like ice cream or chocolate! They're still dessert but they're not the same. A cake is a cake and ice cream is ice cream."

He paused for a moment and stared back at the old man. "You're looking really hard, grandpa. Do you need glasses?"

Noel Vermillion

Noel ignored the interloper, too busy trying to figure out what had happened to Tsubaki. That is, until Tsubaki burst into a gust of wind, flying away. Noel then whirled to the new person, tears in her eyes. “What did you do?”

Rachel Alucard

Rachel was surprised when Emily burst into a gust of wind. She briefly considered doing something about it, for the sake of Noel, if nothing else. She found Noel to be a rather interesting young woman. So when Noel began to yell at the newcomer, Rachel spoke up.

“Noel, get a hold of yourself, child. That wasn’t Tsubaki, surely you have enough common sense in that head of yours to realize that.”

Forest

“Could you keep your mindless rambling to yourself, little girl? While I suppose it might be difficult for the likes of you, please do try to exert a little effort and think before opening that mouth of yours. That is, if what little brain matter you have left hasn’t rotten away along with that body of yours.”

Forest bit the urge to get into his wanker's head and show him how much brain matter she had left.  She hated this place.  She hated the Nexus; what was the use doing what she did here?  She worked with the police, killed other vampires and other nasties, saved people and she was alone.

And getting threatened by twits.

It was like being a rape victim and being blamed for being raped.

Which isn't too far off from the truth.

She twisted out of the Tin Man's grip and said, "Liar, you smell more like blood than anyone else here.  Go back to your mistress and lick her shoes before she has you murder someone who didn't do a bloody thing to deserve it."

She turned to Kenzo and said, "I'm fine.  Let's get out of here before someone else blames me for something I never wanted in the first place."

Saber

"Lancelot use to no be like this.  He came in contact with something that changed him for the worse," Saber said with a sigh.

She looked out the window, then pulled her phone out.  The time she saw stated that it should still be quite dark.  "No, this bodes ill," Saber said with a frown.

Suiren

Suiren just continued to laugh, “Nonono, I belive you.” She was able to get out between her laughs. It was at that point it was apparent that the golden light around her seem… agitated, upset…

Angry.

She tilted her head slightly and looked at the ‘Heart of God’, “Its-haha-just that it’s so funny that we would run into one another.” Her laughing seemed to die down, and then she walked over to the woman, and raised her hand just a bit.

Golden light arched along her being and time slowed, her hand continued to reach up. Closer and closer, moving towards Aisha’s head as the crackling increased.

And then it clapped on her shoulder. And Suiren looked at her with a friendly smile.

“So, if I crush you I would have surpassed the origin of life itself. An aspect of creation… life itself, it its pure and true form.” And at that moment all pretenses of peace died, as Suiren smiled at Aisha with obvious excitement.

AKIHOLARME

Aki was in a very foul mood. Rebeca, the girl who had taken her in and tried to help, was comatose, and the person responsible had gotten away. The very thought of it made her grind her teeth in indignation. Failure was not something she experienced often.

She had given the poor girl to the shopkeeper, who had been extremely upset at the sight of the destroyed door that Caedia had smashed her through. The dragonborn didn’t pay him much mind, walking out of the gym in a daze. Then, of course, she noticed the multiple suns in the sky, hanging very low in the skyline, and as a true adventurer at heart, there was no way she was going to pass up investigating this. She took off toward the nearest sun at a jog, hoping that Rebeca would be well cared for.

MATOU CONSTRUCTION SITE

Fuck. There were guards patrolling the perimeter around the partially constructed area that seemed to be housing one of the suns. It wasn’t the most heavily fortified place she had ever broken into, but she didn’t like her chances of making it through undetected. Her heavy armor would easily give her away. She was going to have to rely on timing.

“Laas,” she whispered under her breath, and the Aura Whisper dragon magic took effect. She could see every opposing guard outlined in red, even if they were out of her field of vision. With this, it would be easy to predict when patrols came and went. Soon enough, she spotted an opening. One pair of guards disappeared behind a half-complete wall, while the next patrol still wouldn’t come around the bend for roughly three seconds.

Aki got up and sprinted as fast as she could, aiming to make it through to the foundation, where it would be easy to take cover behind the many large crates of supplies and construction equipment. Her heavy armor clanked loudly, but the chance that the guards would be able to pick up the sound from behind all these walls was minimal. Just before the next patrol rounded the corner and noticed her, she used another Shout.

“Wuld!” At that, the wind itself seemed to pick her up and carry her forward, covering the remainder of the distance at unbelievable speed. Praying nobody had seen her, she crouched behind several crates and waited, taking a moment to recover her energy after the use of two dragon shouts. After several moments, she decided that she had remained undetected and nobody was looking for her. Nodding to herself, she pressed further in.

In the center was a pillar of light, shining high into the sky. A brilliant light that somehow didn’t render her blind, so long as she didn’t gaze at it directly. However, she was starting to feel a little bit ill. Something about this place, this light, didn’t sit quite right with her, but damn if she knew what it was. There was a man in pure white armor standing next to the pillar of light, all by himself. She had no idea what he was doing here, how he was involved in this, or what any of this was even for, but there was only one way to find out.

Walking into full view, the ebony warrior woman strode toward the man with purpose, ignoring the sickening feeling in her gut. “Hey, you. You know what’s going on with this new light in the sky?”

Emily

Having managed to escape that harrowing mess, the Changeling flitted back towards the motel, flying surprisingly well considering that she was still pretty drunk. Trying to keep the whirlwind of confused emotions raging through her currently non-existent 'self' in check, Emily flew along until, quite unexpectedly, she popped back into existence far too early, coming to a rough landing on the ground.

"Owwww," Emily moaned as she got back to her feet, looking around. Well, at least she was clear of that mess. The Changeling allowed a moment to brush herself off, shivering a little in the chill as she looked back, for a moment worried that one of them might be coming after her. Deciding to not try that Contract again unless she had to, Emily continued on her way on foot.

Eventually making her way back to the Motel, Emily staggered into her room and flopped back onto the bed, reaching over for the note she'd written to explain her absence, crumpling it up, and throwing it in the nearest dust bin.

...That...was kinda insane.

Deciding that she needed another shower, Emily blearily slipped out of her clothes, unable to help but go back to that incident.

That girl...she knew someone else who apparently resembled me quite closely, so why...I'm not...I'm not Tsubaki. I'm me. Emily Blaskowicz, MD, Former Vernal Sovereign. I'm not...I'm not...

Yet, she apparently wore the face of someone very close to that girl. The look she'd given Emily, first surprise, then confusion, then anger, played about in the Changeling's mind. That name...Tsubaki...That wasn't hers. She wasn't that girl, Emily was certain of that. Her name...that was one of the few things she had left to her when she'd escaped. Her name and that silly childhood dream.

Having divested herself of her clothes, Emily stepped into the shower. First hot water, then cold water to personal preferences. At least, that was the normal routine. Emily decided to forgo the cold water for once, barely registering the steaming hot water pouring down on her, all but burning away the remainder of the outside's cold but doing nothing to warm the liquid ice working its way through her veins.

When she'd escaped from the Menagerie Dome, she'd brought two things with her. Her name, and that stupid childhood dream. But now...after meeting that girl...was her name really hers? Was that truly the name that she'd been born with, or just another trick of her Keeper, an whimsical little adjustment to her memories? If that was fake, what about her dream? The faint, fond memories of her childhood, declaring that she'd be a doctor when she grew up. Were those fake too? Were those...

No.

Still ignorant of the hot water pounding down on her, Emily closed her hand, nails digging into the palm of her hand.

I escaped. No matter what, I was the one who escaped. Even if my memories were altered, even if that dream was fake, I took those and made those my own, just like I did with everything else I was given by my Durance. I made those things real, not my Keeper. Even if I used to be...if I used to be friends with that girl. I'm not her Tsubaki anymore. I am Emily Blaskowicz, and, so far as I'm concerned, that's all I'll be.

A spike of pain cut through the maelstrom of confused emotions like a hot knife through butter, a familiar scent informing the Changeling of the fact that her nails had pierced into her palm.

"...oops," she muttered as she unclenched her fist, hissing as the wounds started to sting in the steamy air, "Well, that was stupid."

Deciding that it wouldn't do well to worry Mordred any more than the Summer Courtier might have already been worried, Emily quickly called up the Glamour necessary, focusing on the wounds in her hand before calling forth the Contract. The terms paid for, the Contract quickly went to work, easily patching up the wounds, leaving it looking as if there hadn't been anything there to begin with.

Still...To think about that possibility, even if chances are fairly decent that she's...that I just look like someone she knows...

Taking a deep breath of the steamy air, Emily realized that she still couldn't hear any signs of Mordred's return. Her vision was starting to go a bit blurry, her eyes starting to tear up in spite of her now reaffirmed resolve...

Dammit...Ah well. Might as well get this over with before Mordred gets back.

Sighing, the Changeling sat down in the shower stall and, doing what she could to muffle the noise, finally let herself cry, if only for a little while, wasted tears falling from resolute eyes.

LANCELOT

The dark knight had woken up alone in a room he didn’t recognize, the last thing he remembered being the all consuming terror that Saber was going to die. With the circumstances in mind, he was only slightly ashamed to admit that he had panicked. One mad dash through several cubicles and a friendly chat with the local police captain later, and he was back on the streets. The new sun in the sky caught his attention of course, and since he wasn’t going to be getting any sleep in the near future, he figured he might as well check it out, hoping to distract himself with this task.

Kill it burn it shred it annihilate it smash it disintegrate it save yourself make it atone

And so here he was, staring up at a towering skyscraper that was close to the new light in the sky. It became very unhappy at the sight, yet the voice was quiet, deprived of power. Lancelot wasn’t sure if it was due to the light or happenstance, but investigating this was definitely worth his time. The area directly under the light had been locked down by some group of soldiers, but this tower would serve as a good vantage point. Moving briskly, Lancelot crossed the street and came into view of the base of the skyscraper… and found that it too was guarded by the same soldiers.

The knight of the lake’s scowl deepened. This place and these people were definitely connected to the light somehow. Deciding that finding answers was worth the risk of antagonizing this unknown group of soldiers, he strode up to the skyscraper, hoping that his dark armor wouldn’t put them on edge.

EMIYA SHIROU

The sound of footsteps got his attention, and Shirou turned to see the same kid as before walking up to him. The archer tensed, not sure if the teen was going to get violent for having been suplexed a few moments ago, but he really just seemed concerned.

Shirou got to his feet, knowing that the kid was right, it was better to get away from here. Even that simple act required far too much effort. His physical body was fine, but mana deprivation was a real problem. His whole body felt sluggish and heavy, and a throbbing pain was building between his ears. It was imperative that he return to somewhere safe, preferably his hideout, where his sniper rifle was stored away. He acknowledged the boy with a nod, and then made to climb down the side of the building, intending to head back “home.”

KOTOMINE KIREI

Both newcomers had evaded his sweep, much to the priest’s irritation. He relaxed the muscles in his arms, which shrank back to their normal size, and carefully gauged his enemies as they charged at him. Bone-like spikes burst out of the woman, who attacked from the front, while the other man shifted around to the side, preparing to flank him. Smart… too bad what they didn’t know would get them killed.

Kotomine didn’t even try to defend against Valerie’s attack. Her knee and her elbow struck true, the bone-spike protrusions digging partway into his flesh. Michael came up from behind, about to attack with his staff, when the priest rotated.

It was an unnatural movement. In the blink of an eye, Kotomine’s entire upper body turned 180 degrees, while his legs didn’t appear move at all. The bone woman, brought along for the ride, suddenly found herself between Michael and his target. Whether he hit Valerie or aborted the strike didn’t much matter. The priest reached around and grabbed her by the back of her neck and pulled her away, her bone spikes seeming to just slide right out of him. The priest’s knee came up and his leg extended in a devastating snap kick to Michael’s midsection, strong enough to fracture his ribs.

Holding Valerie by the throat in front of him Kotomine Kirei narrowed his eyes and pulled back his fist, ready to deliver the killing blow.

Saber

"Lancelot use to no be like this.  He came in contact with something that changed him for the worse," Saber said with a sigh.

She looked out the window, then pulled her phone out.  The time she saw stated that it should still be quite dark.  "No, this bodes ill," Saber said with a frown.

Mordred

When the light bathed Mordred, she felt like she a had hangover for someone. Surely it wasn't a normal sunlight, she never had problem with sunbathing. "Man, this city is pissing me off more and more.", she complained, popping up pills she kept in her jacket to habitually to deal with the headache. The pain receded enough to let her function without being too grumpy, but it still felt itching. "I'm going back to my colleague's place, I have enough of this shit." She also felt a bit groggy. Shortish nap before going to an interview would help her. "Goodbye, Saber." she mumbled, heading to her apartment and occasionally sneezing on the way.

On the way back, she noticed some familiar face in one of alleys. Oh, it's that blondie back then..., she thought. She didn't feel like lingering around for too long, but didn't feel like being rude and just ignore Henry's pal. "Howdy." she greeted Noel with visible lack of energy. Getting now closer, she noticed she was accompanied by a pre-teen in fancy dress and some armored knight. Was the girl her ward?

"Wait, are you crying?" The look on Noel's face brought Mordred back from lethargy. Was this armored asshole picking on Henry's colleague? Intolerable.

"Hey, the guy in armor. If you pick on her, I may have to kick your ass." she glared at the armored person, pointing a finger at him. For now, she forgot about whole itching that made her so downbeat. The bully, whoever he was, had to apologize first and make amends.

Aisha

She laughed. It was not mocking, but filled with a joy unknown to others. It was filled with the lightest bird song and the sweetest sounds the natural world could make. Surpass? How long had it possibly been since someone had tried that? To think that were those still willing to attempt it. It was strangely refreshing. She stood up and stared back at the Child. "You may try, but you cannot succeed."

It was something spoken with absolute certainty. A fact proved by endless years of attempts.

Vanguard

Vanguard glared at the woman silently, he listened. He listened carefully to her idiotic words and concluded that the child before him, for that was the intellect she was displaying before him, truly was unable to understand what he said. Perhaps if he went for a more barbaric approach, one the likes of her would be familiar with...

Subconsciously, perhaps out of reflex, his hand twitched. For even the slightest second, the air around Vanguard was heavy, as if an oppressive aura entangled before the two. A great aura, far greater than anything imaginable by a mortal man. An aura of dominance and power that crushed his very surroundings, eroding at the very thought of calm reason.

And immediately, the red cur's reached over his blade with speed matching even himself. The two stood still for a moment, frozen in place, before the redhead relaxed, took the woman's hand and dragged her away from his reach.

Could he have sensed his murderous intent in that moment? Had he not reacted so swiftly, Vanguard's hand would have went straight for her throat and gouged it out. Had Sakura not been near him, he would've annihilated both on the spot. And had that boy not reacted, that infantile girl would've learned the true meaning of misfortune.

Aye, surprising. That boy, that boy was not truly what he seemed. He was more, so much more than what he initially believed. He could prove useful. Seeing that keen reaction, Vanguard was, even slightly, piqued of interest by that child. Testing the utmost limits of his endurance was to be considered an eventuality, perhaps that idiotic girl too would be of use for that purpose.

"Sakura, shall we go?" He asked his master with a voice both as warm as the sun and as chilling as the bowels of hell.

Sakagami Kenzo

Kenzo frowned at Forest's words, finding her adding fuel to the fire approach unnecessary. However, the one who had all of his attention was the armour in front of him. It was like that doll back then, no, worse. This one had both will and reason. He didn't like it one bit, he didn't like his attitude, his tone or his very presence. Eerie, disgusting, oppressive was his very existence. And then, he noticed his fingers twitch.

Suddenly, a wave of nausea invaded the oni's body. He felt a sharp pain in the head, the world flashing red for a split second as if the colour was drilling into his mind. That man, that thing wanted to-

Snarling, he closed his eyes in pain, opening them an instant later to notice the man had not moved an inch. On the other hand, his hand was already laying on his blade. Subconsciously, as if to respond to his devious intent, Kenzo's hand had moved towards his blade as if it was a magnet. No, that man, that man was looking not at him, but at the sword. No, no no no...

Could it be he knew?

Both were frozen in place, their bodies not as much as flinching or trembling. Kenzo knew, he knew the moment one of them moved, he would die. To put it bluntly, it was as if he was a cornered rat before a lion. That man, that man was a daemon, a true monster in every sense of the word.

It wasn't for his life that Kenzo kept his guard up, but for his friend. The friend who that man tried to kill, his whole body dripping with cold sweat ad his eyes slightly gleamed with red before fading into their original russet colour. The first one to move would be the first to die, it was that simple. After a while, their standstill was broken by the demon who relaxed, slowly  calming himself and glaring silently at the armoured man. Then, he grabbed onto Fore's arm and left, walking quickly as far away from him as possible.

Walking away, Kenzo's look hardened. He didn't tremble or shiver at all, instead he held Forest's arm tightly and walked. Truth be told, he didn't seem like the same man at all. Yare yare, what an asshole. He muttered to himself as he walked forward. Well, at least now he was synchronized once more with his Shirogane. At the very least, he'd be a bit more stable than earlier. What a joke, to think he'd have to thank that wanker for that.

"Ya dumbass, don't do that again." He growled, giving Fore a light karate chop of disapproval on the head . "Picking a fight with a guy like that, its like you were asking for bad news. Honestly, he's one I'd rather never have to fight."

Brunhilde Furst

It seemed like the woman thought I had done something to cause the young girl in her grasp to disappear into wind and rush away. An interesting ability, but not something I could do, and it just confirmed that it was indeed the woman who was the aggressor here. Deciding to clear up the first point first, I began to speak, "I had nothing to do with making the poor girl you were threatening disappear. That was likely her own ability and how she decided to escape from you." Giving the girl a glare from beneath my helmet, I continued my verbal assault, "I do believe you were the aggressor here, and it was a case of mistaken identity."

With that said, I had planned on leaving since the situation had resolved itself, however another newcomer, came, another blonde. She seemed to have missed the earlier part and was jumping in much as I was, and seemed to think I was the aggressor here. Reasonable given the situation, so I decided to explain the situation calmly.

"I had nothing to do with this, I walked into this situation much like you are now. This woman over here," I gestured at the crying girl, "Had bumped into a red haired girl, and seemingly mistook her for someone else, before lifting her up and yelling at her. The girl was rather inebriated, so she was likely was confused by what was going on. I stepped in to try to resolve the misunderstanding, then the red hair girl seemingly turned into air and fled. The woman over here think I did that, however I did not," I finished my explanation.

With that said, I waited for the girl's reaction to my explanation.

Victoria Ashworth

Interesting, the girl was definitely of a subtly shifted parallel world. Or not so subtly perhaps. Our worlds may have been similar but they seemed to be quite different in certain aspects as well. The way her magic worked was rather interesting to say the least. It seemed that her world was bifurcated between some sort of higher order of reality and a lower one, and that she took truths from the higher and enforced them on the lower. That was indeed interesting, and I definitely would like to hear a bit more about it.

With that said, I began to speak, "Quite fascinating, my world does not work like that at all from what I know, given the research I have amassed over my centuries of life. This place is truly a fascinating place to let me come across new magics to study." I truly believed it as well, the best way to create thaumaturgy was to adapt the principles of another type of magic to run on blood. "I have the ability to draw up a blood contract with my magic, perhaps you would be interested in forging a deal between the two of us? I would be willing to teach you what I know in exchange for other information, and I would also be willing to give you a bit of my blood in exchange for some of yours, among other things," I said giving her a bit of what might go into the contract.

Depending on how she reacted to this, I might offer her the Embrace. After all she seemed like a perfect candidate to become a member of the Tremere. However, it would likely only be in an emergency scenario, after all neither of us wanted her to lose her awakened powers if not necessary. It was better for both of our research if she kept them.

Giving a blood sample to a blood sorcerer? Nope, just no. Giving it was not an option, and a blood sample of Victoria was basically of little use of her. Without a command of Fate, she couldn't cast a curse or protect herself from a one. And she wouldn't blood bind herself to Victoria to learn something she could eventually learn through her own effort. She wasn't interested in such practical knowledge of Thaumaturgy. Maybe only in theoretical knowledge.

"We can exchange information, but I'm not interested in exchanging blood samples." she stated straightforwardly. "I might be willing to offer another compensation for whatever you else you have to offer, though. If you are honest about with me what else you want to offer."

Medaka

The man changed form from a slender, mysterious and prestigious man to a voluptuous woman.  Both the transformation and this new form were beautiful.  For the first time since before she meet Toe, Medaka found herself intrigued by the notion of magic.

“Please, at least stay until he returns. I promise you he will.”

She was probably right.  However, on one hand, if that was really Lorenzo, he would absolutely need her help, regardless whether he planned to be back or not.  If it was Toe, he would likely be fine.  Still, Lorenzo had gained a weird power so he was likely unable to be tracked.  No, it was clear to her that her ignorance regarding magic was something that made her weak.

Her self contemplation was interrupted by the mysterious woman.

“Lady Einzbern, if she truly wishes to leave we cannot force her to stay and rest. Sometimes there are things that people must do. Besides it seems we have company.”

Medaka studied the woman, becoming somewhat fixated on her as she interacted with the three new strangers that appeared in the castle.  Something about her was familiar, even if Medaka herself couldn't fully pinpoint what it was.  She walked over to the woman and politely waited for her to finish talking to the three strangers.  She needed to talk to her as soon as possible.

Mordred

Drunk woman? A red head? Vanished into thin air? Have she left the apartment on her own and bothered them? Jesus Christ., thought Mordred. The stranger turned out to be a woman, judging from her voice.

"You didn't do that. But she is bothered by your presence, and I'm not surprised. Anyone would be suspicious a stranger hiding her face." She turned to the two. "I apologize on behalf of my associate. I don't know what has happened between you two, but I don't blame you. Emily's a drunk who has loose self-control. I talked with Saber and she sneaked out without my knowledge." Mordred sighed. She had to get back to the apartment. "Can you help me find her if she's not in her apartment? She can be bothersome, but still it's a dangerous place and I cannot leave her like that. But first..." She looked at the black knight. "Remove your helmet and introduce yourself. You will look more trustworthy without that piece of metal on your head."
