"M-marriage?" she managed to stammer out as she looked down at him.  "You . . . we just met . . .  I mean, it's obvious we're bloody physically compatible . . ."

Forest raised her eyebrow as she enjoyed the sight of Taro removing his shirt and then bound it over his wrists.

She laughed and shook her head.  "The guards' reactions would be pretty priceless if I brought you back like this.  They already thing we have some kinky sex thing going on."

She looked back up at the sky and sighed.  "Well, after all this time, it may be time for me to do something for myself for once."

He frowned and took her hand.  "However, we might want to investigate this place in case it is causing a danger to others."

"We also grow more arrogant with age too," Forest said, biting her lip at Taro's breath on her chest before he looked up into her eyes.

She stared into that crimson gaze and bit her lip.  She nodded, "Aye, it does."

"I've Rayshifted, but I was a Servant then so I guess my tolerance for that was higher," Emiya smiled as Sakura kissed his cheek.  "However, the Rayshifts themselves were a little unnerving because they called the ports 'coffins' . . . and they kind of looked like them."

Hopefully Boudica isn't trying to force too much affection onto Jack and Nursery because I'm not there, he thought suddenly, feeling a pang towards the place that was responsible for bringing him here.

"So, what bad rumors did you hear about this place?  I generally paid more attention to the slums because that's where the worse monsters tended to live."

"By that logic, wouldn't I be a dotty old bat?"

Forest chuckled as Taro nuzzled her chest, seemingly happy to be bent over to do so.  "And yes, you could say that Roman Bastard messed me up right good.  Defending the helpless gave me the means to better defend myself, to make sure that wouldn't happen again."

A frown marred her pretty face as she said, "And sometimes the monsters I fight wear that Roman Bastard's face, even when I'm not aware of it."

"The sense of humor is part of my arsenal," Forest looked up at the sky as well. 

Logically, she knew that the stars were billions of light years away, but she liked Taro's thought about the stars representing wishes.  "So is the anger.  It helps me from giving into the sadness and kept me from breaking.  Which made others think trying to break me was fun.  Except I didn't break.  There were times where I wanted to, but I didn't.  Sometimes I wonder if it was stubbornness."

She continued to stroke Taro's fine, silver hair as she looked up the sky.  "I guess I became the hero that I wanted to save me when I needed saving.  I saved myself and then started saving others so they wouldn't go through what that Roman Bastard put me through."

Emiya's vision swam as they emerged from Sakura's portal.  When she took hold of his arm, he pulled her close and leaned on her while he gathered his bearings.  Not that I could ever tell her that I get weird motion sickness from portals, he thought.

Aloud, he answered, "Try not to vomit."

His normally tawny skin was pale as he forced a smile at her and looked down at her.

Forest could already hear the increase in Taro's heart beat as he pulled her close, resting her head on his chest while one hand squeezed her rear end.  His heart sped up against her ear as he held her there.  She was about to raise her eyebrow and tease him about his apparent fondness of her rump until he spoke.

He swayed back and forth, to the rhythm of his own increasing heart beat as he spoke.  Heat filled her cheeks as she felt her pulse race as well.  Then he slammed her against the tree hard enough that she felt it buck and nearly knock the wind out of her.  She gasped as he bared his fangs before bending to rest his head against her chest.

She stood still for a moment, not as deathly still as she could have less than 48 hours ago, but still for the beat of her heart.  One of her hands reached up to stroke Taro's silvery white hair.  She curled her fingers through it and gently combed it out with them.

"Before I came here, my heart was a cold, dead thing.  Perfectly silent and unmoving in my breast, no matter how hard I fought or raged or despaired, it remained quiet.  I could hear the heart beat of people far away, but never my own.  Not since that night so long ago." 

She sighed, looking up at the night sky and the leaves flickering in the breeze. 

"There was no song in my heart, I was a blunt instrument for righteousness and justice, never giving into anything I wanted.  Then I came here."

She blinked as the realization hit her and she felt her knees go weak at the sudden force of it.

Her voice was whisper soft as she said, "And then I met you, and you gave it the means to beat again."
