Blackmore (At Joe's place, in the past)

"Now that's just rude detective. You didn't even give me a chance to defend myself." A snide voice suddenly called out behind the two of them.

All it would take was to turn around in order to find the subject of the day looking down the two of them, lying  against a wall with the widest of smiles. Despite his tone and posture, his grin was anything but relaxed, it was the same sort of smile an alligator can muster up before eating his prey whole.

But he wasn't there, he left, he hadn't been there in the first place, so how the hell did he sneak by everyone's nose just like that!?

Suddenly, his face lightened up, if it didn't look so already, when it turned to the little man he saved a while ago. "Hey Joe, didn't your mama teach you it's bad to talk behind people's back?"

How heartbreaking. For him.

"Unfortunately yes." He answered her with no hint of affection or warmth to his words, not even the sort you'd spare to a sickly pet. No matter how much you had to sugarcoat it, there was no need to pretend to care for a tool.

The two were dining under the patio of a fancy restaurant, or rather, he was watching her dine under the patio of a fancy restaurant. She had ordered a ravishing plate of lamb and herbed potatoes along with a red wine. On the other hand, all the warrior took water, and that was only a courtesy for he drank none of it. He seemed to be glaring at the girl with a mixture of annoyance, confusion and tiredness.

"Why are you enjoying yourself so much over a mere piece of meat?" He sighed and played with the straw in his glass, unable to drink or eat anything on the menu. "That dumb look on your face is insufferable."

The jest would have been cruel if he cared about such things in the first place. But once again, his hardened face contrasted her cheerful demeanor. "Anywhere is fine." He told her flatly before heading out at her pace. But the moment they stepped out, something utterly absurd occurred. His massive arm snuck along hers with almost frightening subtlety and locked in place with hers, carrying her along in a most scandalous position.

"I will be paying." In contrast to this position, his voice was as deadpan and hardened as ever.

“Guahhhh!!” He grit his teeth and endured the flurry while the beast braved through the scorching assault, but that was a bad move.

It was impossible, something that baffled logic. The miasma didn’t grow in size, but each blow marked the coming of larger waves of volcanic heat, spreading the intense heat directly into his body. As Blackmore was now, he could melt steel and evaporate a person through mere hand contact.

Could the beast truly brave such a vicious trap unscathed?

“Ooof, getting kinda hot in here…” He looked away embarrassingly and pulled at his coat, as if to ventilate his fiery bod better. Nice muscles, really nice muscles at that!

If only the clothes didn’t grow to match her frame. If only…

But all of a sudden, Neppy’s words had him snap back to attention. He didn’t expect this reaction, not one bit. How curious.

“Wait, you mean, you aren’t in your goddess form? You sure looked the part.” He rubbed the back of his head as if thinking before he finally settled and lightened up.

“Hehe, sure! But I’ll let you know that the only god I truly believe in is green, paper, and makes wine rain from the sky whenever you’re in the dumps. The bar’s pretty high missy.”

Blackmore

"Ghah!-"

He couldn't even see it coming, even less move out of the way or retaliate. The blow had him fall on his knee, but despite that his smile was as present as ever. A black and purple aura-like substance seeped off his body the moment he was struck and the water surrounding them immediately boiled and burst into burning waves of steam and purple energy, threatening to burn the fish to a crisp and anything near Blackmore along with him.

"Haha, niiice! I knew I could count on ya Ellie." He swiftly snatched a ticket, but strangely enough it didn't catch on fire or anything. He seemed to like what he saw, or was written on it, because he proceeded to grab the two cutie ladies with his large bony arms and hugged them close to him. "Treasure eh? Why go all the trouble going back and forth when I can get us all there pronto? Juuust hold on tight ladies!"

And as soon as he said that, the fire spread on the ground around them and swirled beneath their feet before shooting them upwards and fading from the ground, rocketing the three of them to their first location with heart-taking swiftness. The next thing they knew, they were right in front of a ship sort of ride, or rather, right on top of the swing supporting it.

"Tadaam~! Here we are! I wonder if they take any pictures, hehehe!" He turned to his two companions and waved his arm forward as if to show off the entire park. "How'dya like the view?"

"Let's try to keep the surprise for the readers, shall we? There would be no point to an event where everything is spelled out in advance." He scolded her gently before breaking into a smile. and patting Lucy on the head affectionately.

"Of course, rest at ease. I can assure you this tournament will be tailor made to the Nexus, if that is your concern."

"I do not. You didn't tell me." He told her very flatly, and that was the truth of the matter. "All I'm saying is, it isn't something we can forge alone. In order to melt the materials, we need a hot enough fire, something to fuel the process. Do you understand?"

He turned his eye to the window leading outside, strangely enough looking into the city.

Sigh. People these days just couldn't appreciate style. Just when he was about to call it quits, an avalanche of cheery pink, purple and love showered him, practically assaulting him with such an adorable face he felt he was about to melt.

"Heheh, jeez, relax chickie. Just because I'm a skelly doesn't mean I'm heartless. Of course you can have it pal!" He ruffled up her hair like a big brother before putting his awesome hat straight onto her head. "Woah! It looks great on you! I can't tell if your face makes the hat look better or if it's the other way around. SOme of my magic must've rubbed off on it."

Lorenzo puffed his chest and  scratched his chin as if proudly thinking about something.

When they opened the door, the girl was nowhere to be seen. However, there was a note on the bed and an open window, making it quite obvious just what the girl was up to. Honestly, it was pretty childish looking, decorated with silly drawings and emotes.

I'm gonna get some mushrooms. Don't look for me!

It seemed she was adamant on repaying the favor, or maybe this was a way for her to apologize...

Lucy

Lucy was strangely silent. Even her Messengers didn't make too much of a fuss throughout the entire story. Perhaps she felt some respect for this creature, a rebellious slave still bound even once the eyes of his master had drifted away from him. Or maybe she was just bored.

"What kind of terrible story was that? You didn't even give a real ending."

Vanguard

The metal giant cocked his hand and his fist squeezed, almost sucking in air while somber energies warped around it. A spark crackled around his arm, no more and no less, and he let a tired sigh.

"That is what I seek."

Even if it will bring the end of all things.

"Do you understand? In order to build the key to open your seal, I'm going to have to recreate an antithesis to your lock. Think of it as counteracting a sickness with an opposite disease, but for that we will need another core."

He seemed to be deep in thought, seriously considering his next steps. "I will need to borrow your power."

He was just as surprized as she was at the sudden strange sight. More than that, there was a sick perverse look to his smile. It didn't take long to notice he was actually drooling, as if the sight of the massive creature awakened a new hunger in him.

"Do you think this guy's edible?"

"Yeah! It was delish!" She cheered Shirou on and gave him a big thumbs up. "Live strong boys, bedtime awaits!" And with that, she went straight for the bedroom.

But the moment she went out of sight, the closer she came to the bedroom, the weaker her smile became, until she smiled no longer and just looked down with a tired expression. Her hand was clenched as if she was frustrated.

I messed up again...

What should she do? Her stomach wouldn't stop rumbling. It was like no matter how much she ate since yesterday, her body just didn't have enough upkeep. At this rate, she'd worry them unnecessarily.

The ancient warrior noted her enthusiasm, but in contrast his tale carried no emotion, other than the icy coldness of the mountains. His words whipped like a lash, burrowed like frozen thorns, and carried no emotion other than a pitiful irony. The sort you speak of when you address a group of pitiful children.

"There was a time when humans and animals spoke of the same tongue, and the continents were united under a great city over the skies. An eden for humans to live in after they destroyed their former world, gifted by the gods. The lands below were infested with demons from the old world, the former humans who were chosen unworthy to enter paradise. I hear that it is angels who defend god's heaven, and in their hubris the humans looked up to the gods and recreated their heaven. To defend their gates, they created heroes."

His glare was somber, dull, he didn't look like more than a corpse yet his words were fierce and alive. It was odd, but even such words devoid of life carried such might that it was impossible not to pay attention to them.

"There was such an hero among their ranks. He was simple minded, the sort of hero only a child could idolize, the sort of man who finds genuine happiness in the salvation of others. Do you think such a saint could really exist?"

He scoffed, and his tone became devoid of any emotion. He wasn't sealing them away, rather, there was no emotion or expression that could reflect the fury in his words. He was sealed by the hands that created everything, therefore he hated everything. And most of all, he hated them.

It was such a cliche it was almost laughable, but really, there was nothing more to it. That was the one thing in the world that could make him smile so.

"No. It was all empty rubbish. He couldn't keep a single promise, nor could he save anyone. The gods sought to punish mankind's rebellion and hubris, thus they chose him as their champion. The rest is unimportant..."

As he finished his tale, his confident smile grew once more.

"In order to keep me from turning against them, they devised a seal that locked my power. As a former puppet of the gods, I can understand a divine shackle. It is the only thing I've known for so long, and I still cannot unmake it. There is no need for any of it, we will simply have to make another one."

"Sheesh, fine, fine! You two sure are gluttons." She took the fork and began to eat with it, but at this rate there was barely any food left. In fact, by now she ate practically two thirds of the breakfast herself, so she only needed to take about two more forkfuls of the delicious food.

"Phew! I'm stuffed. Hahaha!" She laughed embarassingly, rubbing the back of her head. "I'm kinda sleepy though, so I think I'm going to hit the hay."

Vanguard

"I see." He pondered on what her words meant, and despite his somber nature he smiled, truthfully and confidently, though it was far weaker than one would expect. He was but a corpse of metal, happiness was something far beyond his reach.

"Victory is in your reach. Your judgement was correct, no, there would not be anyone else in the world who could unlock your seal." He boasted with confidence, but it was anything but false bravado. Understanding its nature, he truly believed he could back up his statement in its entirety. "Lucy, will you listen to a boring tale?"
