"Oh she's a nerd then," Buffy said with a snort, instantly turning away.

Angelus smirked and replied, "Come on now Buff.  It's always good to learn new things."

"Not if its boring," she said with a grin.

Spike lit another cigarette and asked, "So love, what are you researching?  Doing some field work and whatnot."

"She met her," Drusilla said, her blue eyes growing wide and unseeing.  "Grandmother's murderer.  She met her.  Thinks she's delusional and insane."

Dru then laughed, her gaze clearing as she met Deborah's eyes.  "Dearie, you have no idea what delusional and insane is."

Deborah

"Maybe, maybe not. I'm rational in a way, given my methodology, but as I try to understand the relation between the infinite God and its finite Creation, that maybe is too much to handle even for one granted flawed eternity. But I have some evidence that my pursuit is not ultimately futile even if it's something I cannot casually share. At least not the secret how it is done. For compensation, I can get things done using miracles granted to me. Followers of Christ would condemn that as 'simony', but I'm not God's holy woman. I'm God's monster." Deborah declared in confidence "Apparently for God its Angels are not enough, so somebody has to do the dirty work here on Earth."

"That will be fine, thank you", Rider said politely as she took the book from him.

Then, she found herself a seat and began reading.

Faust waited for Rider to find a place to sit down, before he walked over to where the Adjutor had been sitting, looking for his book. He found it sprawled on the floor.

Picking it up he remarked, "A pity he didn't take it with him. It's a book fitting for a vagrent such as himself. Ah well."

Chuckling at his joke, he returned the wayward book to its proper place on the shelf.

Rin

Quote from: Saber
She nodded and said, "She is an acquaintance of mine and one of the protectors of Nexus City.  I will warn you she may appear . . . stressed and any sarcasm or snide remarks are not directed at you.  That is just how she deals with things.  Reminiscent of Archer, but less abrasive at first."
There was a bit of sadness in Rin's features at the mention of her former Servant's name. Not that she entirely understood why. It wasn't like she was angry at the selfishly selfless asshole for sacrificing his life and arm so Emiya-kun could be happy with Sakura. It's not like she missed him or anything. Or his tea. Or how he cleaned the house. Or his snide remarks. Or how he made that house that didn't let anyone in or out feel a bit less lonely.

Nope, didn't feel a thing! Totally, not at all!

Besides. What had been done had been done. Dwelling on it wouldn't change the fact he was gone. And she had a good strong start as a magus. She had a bright future with one of the most powerful magi in all of history as her teacher. She had it good. Even if had lost more than one person dear to her over her lifetime, she was still in charge of her whole world. Not even grief or loss could change that.

So Rin put on a faint grin. Even if the falsehood still slipped through a bit, it was still pretty good work. "I'll be fine. I could handle Archer after all, so I'm not too worried. Besides, who knows. Maybe I'll get her good side!"

Besides running the forum, I can provide avatars for people as well~

"Feigning ignorance will not help you, mage," Elyssa stated, "You will come with me, and you shall answer what I ask."

The Warmonger then hefted up the man while flooding the Gate Rune with mana. The ease pf phasing through barriers depends entirely on the wall's densit and thickness; the concrete walls of the building, while not hard exactly, will require some work.

With that, Elyssa approached the building's exterior, captive in hand...

EMIYA SHIROU

Shirou merely sighed, deciding it would be best to not question Law’s sudden need for booze while Forest yelled at the other cars to drive around.

“That is enough Mia. Ride with Forest,” Shirou said in his simple English, frowning down at the young girl. He remembered how much Illya would have benefited from learning to respect her elders... not that he actually was her elder, but still.

The freelancer popped the door open and sat himself in the driver’s seat, taking a moment to familiarize himself with the gearshift and pedals. He was no stranger to driving, although he had never owned a car of his own. He traveled across oceans far too often for that. Carefully bringing the Firebird back within its lane, Shirou waited for the blond vampire to pull in front for him to follow.

SAMUEL IBARRA

“Oh, sorry ma’am,” Ibarra said, trying to smooth over any ruffled feathers. “And I don’t have a problem with these ‘wormholes’ or whatever they actually are, Puck. I’m just tasked with getting as much information as possible on them. The higher-ups in my division think it could be useful. If you were in around the same place as the anomalies, is there anything you can tell me about them, Mordred?”

Higher ups? Whoever ordered him to 'investigate' could have wanted to dabble with things beyond their grasp, and that was an unsettling prospect. "Useful? For what? Playing around with things beyond understanding never ends well. If that only spelled doom for you, fine. But I don't want more crazy people popping up from some bloody other world and going aggro here. First there is someone who looks like me, then some bloody Nazi nut ranting about cleansing not pure enough, a stalker ghost nearly blowing up a hospital and finally crazed tin man who tried to murder me for some reason. I've had enough of this shit for this night!" The girl was clearly frustrated about the events of this night, and it showed up.

“I guess we can head to Port Manor Road… Might take a bit of time though, it’s not like we have a bike like you.” Rebeca shrugged, “So I guess we’re walking.”

She then began to walk down the street, “Come on, I will try and tell you more about the city on the way.”
The bike lust begins, I can see it in her eyes, her face, her nose. She desires it, but I won't allow it. She will not take my precious from me.

Golum, golum.

I walked after her with a dumb smile, pointed at my inner Golum impersonation.

Background information time, I suppose it was. I suppose I had to learn about the city at some point. God, I hate class.

"So, what's the deal with this place?" I asked, figuring it was a good way to get 'er started.

David

The Joyous slowly began to snicker at Mordred and it quickly became a beautiful, mocking laughter. It almost seemed as if the pale woman would fall over in a fit as the sound emitted from her. David ignored his sister and began to speak to Ibarra again. with a raised brow. "Higher-ups? What group do you serve, Ibarra? Under whose authority do you search for these openings?"

The Scholarly's eyes focused on Ibarra. His eyes kept track of every twitch that the man made. There were numerous corporations with influence and power that had grown in the Nexus, but almost none of them had publicly expressed the desire to find an escape, and the government of this city was in the same boat. It would be prudent to know exactly who this man served.

Forest

Forest took Mia's hand and said, "No, he didn't lose a game.  A woman sat on his lap, took his pants and did unwanted things without his permission.  Which is very bad and if I didn't have to herd a bunch of cats to Saber I'd go track her down and pummel her for good measure."

She watched as Shirou got situated in the Firebird and Law continue to drink rum.  The vampire flinched slightly, but herded Mia back into the car, got the not-girl buckled in, and began to move back into traffic.

"Bugger it, I'm just gonna floor it and hope he keeps up," Forest said, cranking up the Dio, putting her foot on the clutch and shifting into gear to speed into the night.

Saber

Saber was familiar enough with her Rin to know when she was trying to hide something, mostly her emotions.  It didn't surprise her that Rin missed Archer.  Saber thought about the Archer from her realm constantly, and how the fact her closest friend and confidant was once a version of her Master.

"We shall see," the blond said with a slight smile.

The Fanged Foursome

Buffy rolled her eyes at the vampire's statement about being "God's monsters."

"Look we're demons.  Demons took up shop in our dead bodies and have our personalities and memories.  We're not God's Monsters," the blond said, rolling her eyes.

Angelus tilted his head and said, "God's Monster.  Bringing destruction, pain and death for a higher power.  Now I really don't like taking orders, I mean really don't like taking orders . . .  But I prefer blaspheme and defiling His name."

"Angelus was Irish Catholic and has daddy issues," Spike whispered to Deborah, "So he has to make a bit of a show of everything."

Drusilla pouted and said, "Daddy, she didn't say anything about meeting the monster who killed Grandmother."  She moved to Angelus and gripped his lapels, her dark-blue eyes unfocused.

Spike frowned and then moved to Deborah.  Buffy asked, "So, did you run into any other vamps before meeting us?"

Deborah

Demons? Possessing bodies? Deborah had heard few rumors echoing through the night about ephemeral creatures possessing corpses of mortals and bodies of Kindred alike. Anyway, she was sure of one thing. Those are not vampires, or at least vampires of her world. Given they openly claimed to be demons and one of them even blasphemed openly against her God, she really did not want to traffic with such individuals, but she knew that leaving the place here and now would be a stupid now. She kept her calm and played along:

"Blonde haired, openly socializes with mortals, is a pagan worshipper. That's the vampire I met" she revealed whom she encountered before.

Adjutor sighs, resigning himself to the current situation, when he realizes that the robot/golem is heading for a wall.

You're kidding, right?

After all the trouble we go to in an attempt to not break into what could potentially be someone's house, this happens?

I'm going to be perfectly honest here, I didn't imagine we'd be breaking one of our own resolutions so quickly.

Like we have a choice in the matter!

Won't matter to the person whose house you're being taken into.

Maybe nobody lives here.

...Adjutor, remind me, when was the last time we were that lucky?

Fuck you, Xarrest. Fuck you.

How? We're in the same body.

God damn i- Hey, that's a pretty nice rune.

At this point, Adjutor notices the flow of mana into the rune, taking a moment to strain his eyes to attempt to get a good look at the rune. He manages, though having to look through the mana generator- wait what?!

Something else of interest, then...

Adjutor takes a moment to commit the rune to temporary memory, to be written down later along with what he could discern of the manor's boundary fields. He then looks over the mana generator, trying to see what he can discern of its function, having nothing better to do right now.

Henderson is still cruising through the city at slightly less breakneck speed, car still billowing impossible amounts of smoke, when he decides he's gotten a bit thirsty. Not long after this realization hits, yet another strikes with just as much force. The cars in front of him aren't moving out of the way as politely as they were before. For that matter, they weren't moving at all.

Henderson slams on the brakes, then flips a switch that opens the trunk and all the doors when he decides he's not decelerating fast enough. The drag provided by all of this manages to slow the Buick down to reasonable speeds as he slows to a stop, using the respite to pop open the glove box and remove one of the two massive bottles of Caribbean rum he'd purchased on his ride home, but never got around to drinking. The bottles, nestled in the space that should've been occupied by his license and registration, twinkle invitingly at him, but alas, he can only drink one.

The line gets moving again, soon revealing the cause of the hold-up: one shiny Firebird, occupied by two young punks, one of them some kind of edgy Goth, judging by the terrible dye job.

On a day not so weed-filled as this, Henderson might have shouted something at them. As it was, Henderson reached out the vacant window to make some vaguely insulting hand gesture, but the rum was ca- wait what?

Upon closer inspection of his now empty hand, Henderson realizes that his hand gestures caused the bottle of rum to leave his hands, sail across the space dividing the two cars, and land firmly in the passenger-side punk's lap, with the bottle's momentum allowing to sail through the window undamaged. Henderson briefly considers going back for it, but decides that the alcohol would do those kids some good, instead pulling the second bottle out as he peels off, still considering turning for the night as he flips another switch to close the doors and the trunk once more.

Fanged Foursome

"We never met her.  We just knew that Darla was taken out by a vampire from another reality or whatever," Buffy said with a shrug.  "Maybe I should find out who she is and send her a Thank You card."

Spike grinned and said, "I'll sign it too, Slayer."

Angelus glared at both of them and said, "So did this blond pagan have a name?  Maybe something other than blond and talks to her food?"

"Forest. That's the name of hers as far as I know. I don't really know anything more about her. She's neither from lineage I belong to or any others I'm familiar with" Deborah answered the question. She guessed it did not hurt to tell that as Forest was not an ally of hers after all, though definitely she came to conclusion that a misguided heathen with a soul was more tolerable than something infernal possessing corpses.
