EMIYA SHIROU

Shirou thought back to that winter 12 years ago. He remembered that Saber had taken a liking to one of Taiga’s stuffed animals, probably a lion, although he wasn’t sure. Now he felt the same surprise now as he had felt then, except it was over an entire room full of plushies instead of one.

It was also odd that the vampire was the one who had given the former king Charles in the first place. Forest certainly had not fit his expectations of a dead apostle. Still, that didn’t mean he could afford to drop his guard. He knew better than that now.

“Ah, sure. Another time,” Shirou said with a tiny smile, happy that she was offering for him to return in the future. He turned back to his meal, eating quickly. He did still have to find Mia.

AKIHOLARME

Rebeca’s total lack of denial or attempts of subversion was slightly reassuring to the Imperial Tribune. Quick wittedness and skillful acting were characteristic of the many spies, thieves, and assassins she had met over the years, things that the white haired girl did not seem to have. However, the look also meant she knew she was guilty of something.

“I await your explanation,” Aki said, her stern expression unmoving. She admittedly felt just a little bad about being rude to the person who had provided her a bed, but she was the one who had insisted on these arrangements.

"..." Adjutor considers the statement for a moment, then allows a slight chuckle, "And here I was thinking you were incapable of humor. Ah well, I suppose it's a bit too early for a fight right now anyway. Actually, I think I'll be saying farewell for now. It would probably be a good idea to see if I can get a new job, and I've got an idea that should be perfect..."

With that, Adjutor turns, looks around for the nearest shadow, and slips into it, making his way to the room Forest allotted for him and leaving a note saying he was heading to the Police station to see if he could land himself another job tacked to the front of the door before gathering up the Elementals, taking a moment to adjust to the awkward arrangement of their sheathes on top of his new outfit, before slipping into the nearest shadow and making his way back into the city.

Some time later, he finds himself in front of a somewhat modest building that really can't be anything other than a police station, though the vehicles vary a bit more than what one would expect, from police cruisers to...is that a broomstick? Shaking his head in minor disbelief, Adjutor makes his way inside, finding himself  subconsciously evaluating the general condition of the police station, the placement of any nearby officers, any visible armaments, the general level of cleanliness before he steps forward to the officer behind the main desk.

"Hello," he says evenly, "I'm here to see if I can offer my services as a consultant."

The officer behind the desk, seemingly enraptured by what are likely displays linked to every nearby camera in the building, takes a moment to look up at the teen, then looks him over for a moment before saying, "Kid, you don't just up and join the force out of nowhere, let alone become a consultant."

"Well, what do have to do to join?"

"Well," the officer stands up and looks Adjutor over for a moment, "What are you good at?"

"Hunting," Adjutor says without hesitation.

"Hunting what?"

"Any that so happens to be my prey."

The officer stops for a moment, then takes a better look at the teen.

"You good with those swords?"

"They're not swords, but yes."

"...whatever. No magic?"

"I don't really like using it, but yeah."

"..." the officer takes a moment to consider all of this, then sits back down and activates an intercom.

"I've got someone here who says they want to help out. Probably a bit excessive, but you guys might want to take a look."

The intercom barks an affirmative, and both the officer and the person on the other end sign off.

A few moments pass before another officer emerges from one of the hallways.

"Riggs," the receptionist officer says, "Show the kid to the back, you've been here long enough to know what to do."

The officer, apparently 'Riggs' looked Adjutor over for a moment, before saying, "You're kidding, right? We're accepting emo-looking Saber copycats now? I mean, one sword is fine, but four?"

Not-Riggs, clearly a senior officer, gives Riggs a look to which said junior officer merely offers begrudging acceptance, "Fine. Come on, newblood."

Adjutor opens his mouth to object to the moniker, but thinks better of it, following Riggs back into the office, past all manner of people, some with magical capabilities, some without, and a few who weren't quite human in the first place, including an attractive fae(judging by the ears) and a man who, while he didn't look like he was a member of the force, had definitely seen better days, even discounting the rather powerful looking spirit that seemed to be part of him on a deeper level than his own bond to Xarrest.

Just attractive? Please tell me you're this is you making an effort to ignore that she's just straight up hot.

Even if I was, this doesn't seem like the best place to be ogling every ass you can.

Hey now, I'm perfectly within rights to appreciate curves like that.

With that, Adjutor pointedly looks away from the fae.

Dammit, Adjutor! At least tell me you're going to introduce yourself.

We didn't come here to ogle pretty girls, we came here for a job.

The fae seemed to be gushing over some one she refers to as the 'Law Unto Herself'. This, combined with the occasional mention of someone who goes by Saber, leads Adjutor to believe that his current hostess might be the person referred to by the fae. He certainly wouldn't put it beyond a vampire to be strong enough to go toe-to-toe with werewolves, though 'punching them into oblivion' might be a bit of an exaggeration.

Riggs leads him past all of these as they go deeper into the station. At this point, Adjutor notes that the increased frequency of people with magic abilities, equipment, or both.

"Here you are, newblood," Riggs says, "Have fun."

With that, Riggs leaves Adjutor alone amongst the well-equipped serious looking people.

The general hubbub dies down slightly as the people start to notice the new arrival, with one of them leaving his colleagues to approach the teen.

"You the new guy who thinks he can just walk in and land a consultancy?" the gruff voice queries, hard eyes sizing the teen up as the others go about their business.

"I just want to help however I can," Adjutor admits, having to restrain the urge to take a step back under that gaze.

"If you wanted to help, you would have just gone in as one of the boy in blue. But no, you wanted a more flexible schedule, mercenary pay, whatever, and you got handed to us. So, what can you do?"

"Umm...well, I can Hunt things," Adjutor says.

"'Hunt' he says," the Elite says, "You'll have to be more specific than that, meat. But first, a rite of passage to see if you can even match up to what you'll have to deal with as a merc on our level."

...Oh fuck.

"First, you'll go on patrol for a day with one of us. No bitching, and you follow our rules as much as you can or as the officer you're assigned to tells you. You will follow every order of the officer as if it were the word of whatever higher power you follow, and you will observe the officer at work. You will only involve yourself if things go south. Fortunately for you, things tend to go south a lot on patrol. Make it through the patrol while fulfilling the above conditions, and you're in and you're on our level. Do I make myself clear?"

Adjjutor stares at the man for a moment, then quickly nods his affirmative.

"Yes or no, meat!" the man barks, getting a flinch out of Adjutor, "Unless you're forced to make hand-signs, you will respond to my queries and orders verbally! You haven't earned the right to work under me, so don't bother saying sir."

"Yes," Adjutor says, still feeling a bit nervous.

"Good. Now," he turns back to the other people before calling, "Elites! Is there anyone still unaccounted for?!"

There is a moment of silence as assignments are checked and records reviewed, when one of them calls out, "Only one officer not on duty, on leave, or currently present. One Noel Vermillion."

"Well now," the gruff man says with a chuckle that inspired the slightest bit of terror in Adjutor, "Looks like we know who's baby-sitting you, meat."

A round of knowing chuckles passes amongst those present before being swiftly silenced by a single stern glare from the man who was likely the department head.

"Stein!" he barks as a lithe man with stitches all over his face and clothing straightens up, "If Vermillion isn't here within exactly fifteen minutes, call her and tell her about her new assignment!"

"Sir!" the stitched man says, making his way back over to his station.

"As you were," the department head says, the assembled Elites returning to their previous tasks as the general hubbub starts up again.

"You," the head says, turning back around to Adjutor, "I'd suggest you get ready for a long day. Enjoy your last quarter hour of freedom, for you will be thrown bodily into the crucible that is the Nexus soon, and don't come back here until you've proven yourself."

Adjutor stares at the man for a moment, then backs away a few steps before turning around and leaving.

...We have faced down wizards, warriors, and beasts of too many kinds to remember, and this guy, in my personal opinion, is fucking terrifying!

...I...don't think I have anything to add to that. Seeing as we're going to be enjoying ourselves, perhaps we could go back to that Fae and the guy with the creepy ass guardian angel?

That would certainly pass the time, at the very least.

With that, Adjutor makes his way back to the main area of the station, making his way over to the two, but not coming close or saying anything yet.

Sarse

In hindsight, Sarse should've been more wary when Ann had no comment to offer to his decision to sleep in the couch, letting her and Than'Sanel take the two beds of the hotel room he had rented. Well, there was a possessively sultry 'good night little angel', but he figured he could live with that. It did not occur to him to question the lack of prolongued harassment - he didn't need sleep, but had found himself tired enough on several levels that a restoring nap had become a very appealing idea.

This lack of foresight had been a mistake, for it meant he had dropped his guard during his sleep, and allowed himself to extend it until the first rays of sunlight filtering through the window of the hotel room woke him.

And under the cover of the night Ann had, somehow, sneaked inside his shirt and was tightly pressed against his skin, her weight over him.

He gave his best deadpan look as her head popped out of his clothing.

Abigail

The redhead laughed and said, "I guess 'Lord and Lady' type of Fae works.  I don't bibidy-bobbity-boo and turn rags into prom dresses.  That's a little beyond my wheelhouse.  Then again, I've heard about all sorts of crazy type of Fae from other worlds getting here."

She watched Law scarf down a second muffin and pressed her lips together.  Poor thing has had a hell of a night.  Could probably use some real food and not just muffins.  And some pants.  Maybe a shave.

Then she heard him mention "Forest" and that she'd given Law a place to stay.  She perked up, snapped her fingers and asked, "Wait, you know Law Unto Herself?  And she's letting you crash at your place."

She sighed, shook her head and said, "That's so cool!  Like I heard she punches werewolves into oblivion and stuff.  I want to punch werewolves into oblivion."

Law chewed slowly on the remnant of the muffin he had left as he considered his next words. It appeared his possible fairy godmother (OK not fairy godmother but it was an amusing mental image) was a bit of a fangirl when it came to the vampire he'd met last night.

"I think punching werewolves is kinda stupid, because you have to get close to them to punch them. I mean I guess it's awesome but I don't think you should try it, not really safe." He finished the muffin off after that, looking again at the box of muffins. "So uh, yeah, I know her. I guess I could introduce you to her if you give me a ride there but hey, you're probably busy, and I don't think you came by car..." he frowned a little at that. "So looks like I'm stuck here."

Quote

Forest

The vampire finished her shower and toweled herself dry.  Instead of fussing with the hair dryer, she just loosely braided her blond hair into pig tails and dressed into some purple fleece pajama bottoms and a black turtleneck.  Theoretically she would be going to bed fairly soon due to the sun rising.  Even though she wasn't overly physically tired, but her body did still need a couple hours of rest despite being a vampire.

She could sense Adjutor and the 40K Chick in her gun range, and Archer was still in the kitchen.  Figuring Archer was her priority (and the least annoying and most aesthetically pleasing because sweet Lord and Lady those shoulders and when did Asians start getting so big?) because of his theoretical ties to Saber.  Plus he might need a master with a lot of mystical energy, which Saber had in spades because she had a dragon reactor which made her the bottomless pit she was.

The blond found Archer in the kitchen and said, "Hi.  So.  I know Saber.  She mooches food off of me and she's talked about you, a lot."

Archer regarded the pancakes with a somewhat miffed eye. Honestly, he didn't need to eat, and manifesting took energy he couldn't afford to lose, but there wasn't really much else he could do at the moment to keep himself occupied other than cook. The blonde vampire's words about Saber shook him out of his silent contemplation of existance and if vampires could eat blueberry pancakes as he turned around to focus on her. "Oh? So what does she say about me?"

He was genuinely curious.

Saber

Saber started to put a cup of coffee on for Rin as well.  She smiled at Shirou and asked, "If you like, I can see if anyone at the station could be spared to assist with the search.  However, I do need to be there when the party goes into the sewer to track down the fiend responsible for that massacre last night."

She smiled at Shirou and said, "Perhaps once things calm down I can show the both of you around Nexus, and maybe get you settled in more comfortable quarters while you are here Rin.  I apologize about it being so crowded; I have a male roommate who is missing at the moment."  She frowned at that as she looked at Lancelot's phone.

Abigail

"Well, no, because a lot of werewolves would rape and eat me.  Probably at the same time which is sort of ewww," Abigail said with a face and shaking her head.

She said, "I didn't come by car, but I came by broomstick."  Her cheeks reddened and she said, "I enchanted it because . . . tinkering spellcaster.  The only thing I'd be worried about is you going hypothermic due to the speed and wind, but I might have a fix for that if you're willing to trust a dotty neophyte spellcaster."

Forest

The vampire lifted her eyebrow at the pancakes before her.  She grabbed a glass, went to the fridge, filled it with orange juice and sat down at the newly reconstructed table.  She picked up a stray blueberry and ate it.

"Well, she did mention that you liked to cook and were really domestic.  Almost fussy about keeping things clean," Forest said with a grin, "And that you were a bit of a curmudgeon and a snarky son of a bitch, but at the end of the day your heart was in the right place.  Apparently she was pretty close to a version of you, because he-you-dimension stuff is so bloody confusing was brought back to life due to Grail shenanigans."

She took a drink of orange juice and said, "And she also says Rider is a dirty harlot after talking about you and she mayyyyy have a bit of a crush on that other version of you.  Of him.  Bugger.  Oh, and your cooking is amazing.  Like she'll get a look I have to describe as foodgasmic when she talks about your cooking and apparently its the bar she judges every other food she eats now.  So . . . when the Saber I know meets you, don't be surprised if she hugs you with her dragon power."

“Bolverk isn’t a normal set of pistols, they don’t require ammunition to fire, first off. They’re the highest class of Ars Magus, a Nox Nyctores. I’m--not really sure how to explain what Ars Magus is.” Noel paused to think a bit. “It’s the manipulation of seither through the use of science, although I’m not sure you even know what seither is...” Noel sighed. She gave Blackburn a breif overview of the Dark War, how the Black Beast had destroyed nearly half of the human population, how the Six Heros had teamed up to destroy it, and how seither had remained on the surface of the earth, poisoning all creatures who ingested the mysterious substance.

Law

Lawrence blinked. "That's... that's very eew. That's pretty fucking eew honestly. "

Would you cut to the chase and just bone her already. There's probably a ghost somewhere you can eat for power. Go do that. Or kill someone. Quit wasting time

Wow to think I'd miss the murdery you. Welcome back.

Fuck you too.

"Well, uh, I've never ridden on a broomstick and well," Law scratched his chin, sort of grinning. "I'm thinking that if you're as good with magic as you are with making muffins I'll be fine. So yeah, I'm up for it. Let's get going then."

Archer

"...So in this alternate reality I hooked up with Rider?" Archer shook his head. "I can't really see that. The cooking and cleaning a bit but with Rider?"

He had some bad memories of the Servant, both in life and after it. God knows why he chose to think with his dick instead of his head on that one.

"I'll try to avoid having my bones crushed by Saber. Thanks for the warning." Being hugged to death was not away he would want to die. Not that he'd have a choice once his mana supply ran out.

Forest

The redhead nodded and said, "Oh Lord and Lady, the corpses we find of werewolf victims . . ."  She shuddered at the memory of one she had to use to scry with.  The poor girl had been so violated that Abigail couldn't put into words what had happen.  Sure, she could clinically list all the injuries to Law, but that wasn't the sort of trauma she wanted to bring up with a guy wearing ill-fitting sweat clothes and needed to be taken home.

She shook her head and said, "Nope, not going there.  But yeah, I can whip up a potion really quick to help keep your body temperature up while we're riding so parts don't freeze off.  Because that would be bad."

Abby searched through her giant messenger bag that doubled as her magical kit and purse and found the herbs she needed.  Getting some hot water from the coffee pot, she steeped the herbs and murmured an incantation over it.  Steam that smelled like cinnamon wafted from the Styrofoam cup she handed to Law and said, "Here."

Forest

"Apparently that other you also opened up a repair shop to make a living," Forest said with a shrug, "Now since you're not a Real Boy, we're going to need to find you a supply of magical energy right?"

Sepulchure

Sepulchure walked through the streets of the Nexus, looking at the strange architecture of the city. People kept a fair distance away from him, fleeing from his very presence. People shut and locked their doors at his approach. His wanderings served to confirm his suspicions that he was no longer on Lore, but was now somewhere else entirely. After a short time, a blue and white van with flashing sirens pulled up to Sepulchure and six heavily armed masked men ran out and raised their guns at Sepulchure, yelling at him to drop his weapon and put his hands in the air.

Sepulchure looked at them with a bemused expression. “Wherever I am right now, it’s full of ants that need to be taught their place.” He sighed in mild annoyance at the people wasting his time.

“S-stop or we’ll shoot!” One of the men managed to force out. “Just come peacefully and--and we can resolve this-” The man gulped. “We can resolve this peacefully! We’ve been getting calls about a dangerous armored man wandering the streets, and you fit the bill! We just need to bring you in for questioning!” He yelled.

Sepulchure laughed. “Please.” He grabbed the air and forcefully pulled upward. “Get out of my way.” Skeletal arms erupted from the ground and pulled them to the ground while many more skeletons erupted from the ground. “I think I’m going to teach the people here just how strong I am. Farewell.” The skeletal arms ripped the men limb from limb, the streets echoing with their screams and the sounds of people fleeing from Sepulchure’s necrotic legions pillaging the neighborhoods.

“I should find a suitable stronghold to reside in. Perhaps the entire city isn’t nearly as dull as here. There may even be a castle somewhere.” He mused to himself as he trudged along.

Corporal Mathew Blackburn:

"...I see."

From what he understands, this Black Beast was definitely something of the Dark Powers, and this Seither was Corruption. It had all the signs to look out for according to the Uplifting Primer. But if Noel's weapons use Seither, that means...

Mathew suddenly became very wary of the woman and her guns.

Then again, not everything adds up to how he understands things; Psykers are in-tuned with the Immaterium, yet they were powerless against the Black Beast, for example. Nonetheless, he's not going to turn a blind eye to this matter over a few inconsistencies.

Blackburn picked up his shoulder guard and began scrubbing at it, thinking things further.

Richard Maxwell

"Maaan, what a pain in the arse.", a lone man muttered under his breath. It appeared he was lost once again, the old lady in the streetcorner must've given her the wrong direction, or perhaps...

Oh my god.

The not so gentleman did not have time to think, screams and wails of agony rang trough the neighborhood, so loud and visceral even a deaf man could hear them.

Rushing as fast as one could manage, he now found himself before a carnage not unlike an abattoir of men. Wincing at the spectacle he witnessed, his gaze averted to a shady armoured man.

This man... he's not human.

Whatever whoever laid before him was, one thing was sure: he was the one responsible for what just happened. Even an idiot could tell this fellow was but trouble, but in his mind, Richard told himself he'd avenge those poor men somehow.

Avoiding the puddles of blood and flayed flesh that laid around, he affably smiled and called to the suspicious person, thing or whatever freak he was supposed to be.

"Hey, good sir! What brings you here, you lost too?"

Gintoki

The natural permed samurai woke up in a back alley, with a hangover. Nothing unusual for him. However, something was off.

Uhh, the sky is clear...

Definitely off. There were no Amanto ships cruising through the skies. No Space Terminal seen by anyone inhabiting the city of Edo. Gin must have cruised through too many bars and pachinko parlors that night to end up in place like that. Strangely, he had all clothes on him and his wooden sword with him. That debunked that he could have indulged his gambling habits.

"Where I am even?" he pondered, picking up his nose and staring blankly at surroundings with his dead fish eyed gaze. Then it finally dawned on him.

"How the hell I ended up outside of Japan?! Is it New Y***?" he yelled, the lack of Japanese style buildings clearly telling him it's not Edo.

Expecting the worst, he touched his body in various places, including that place between legs.

"Good, everything's in place..." he muttered. Nothing was missing and there were no cuts or weird scars on his body. That excluded being kidnapped by some shady people involved in organ black market.

Calm, calm down! It might not be Edo, but everything will be fine! If I'm not running around just in underwear, my luck haven't dried out yet! Gintoki reassured himself, trying to not panic too visibly.

Mordred

"How about we find somehow where Saber lives? If she is off-duty, I could pay her a visit, wherever she lives. If that's closer than the police station, I should check her house or apartment. Don't worry, I won't break in and search through her stuff!" she assured Faust.

Sepulchure

Sepulchure examined the peculiar man in the black suit. He didn’t seem the same as the others, he seemed to know what he was getting into, and greeted Sepulchure with a smile.

Quote
"Hey, good sir! What brings you here, you lost too?"

“You aren’t like the others, are you? You know what you’re in for, but you’ve approached me anyway. Tell me, are you yet another wannabe hero who is here to foolishly throw away his life? If you leave now, I won’t try to harm you. You should think hard before answering me.”

Faust

Faust shrugged. "I have no issues with asking around to try and find out where Saber lives; and ordering my search party to keep an eye out for one more is a simple task.” Faust responded. “Where should we start?”

Dangerous... this is bad, this guy means no good.

"Me, a hero? My my, I couldn't tell you were such a flatterer." Richard humoured with a smile, walking towards the armoured man calmly, but with utmost care.

"Sorry, you must've gotten the wrong chap. I very much doubt I could be called a hero or justiceer or whatever you fancy calling the good folk."

Of course, he knew very well what he was getting into, whatever the armoured man was, he wasn't living. But it was strange, it was a bright sunny day, any vampire would simply melt off under direct sunlight. All his instincts told him to make a run for it, to leave. And yet...

Like a moth near a flame uh?

"Ahem, I am Richard Maxwell, lovely gentleman and all around pain in the arse at your service. If possible, I'd like to not be harmed, I am afraid it'd be quite painful you see?"

Gintoki

With no place to go, Gintoki aimlessly strolled through the streets of Nexus. I guess the little money I have is worthless here. What a pain in ass he thought. Then, a golden flash caught his attention, something hitting the ground and forming a crater. He could not recognize from such distance whether it was a person or an object. But he knew the answer.

"Don't tell me it's East City..." he muttered under his breath "N-no, no, it cannot be. Yasai-jins don't exist, Dragon Bozu is just a manga! If I go and check the crash site, it will be JUST a meteor. Nothing else! Yeah, JUST a meteor!" He could always leave the place, but whether meteor really crashed there would pester his thoughts unless he went and checked the site. "Okay, it's only fiction."

His mind set on checking whatever happened there, he followed the right direction.

***

Gintoki observed the place where the 'meteor' hit, hiding behind a post. He noticed a group of people standing there. One was a longhaired woman in kimono, the other an armored person and there was some woman in S & M get up too. I won't ask... he thought. Someone weird must have been going on, because only a deviant of weirdest kind went around in such get up in the public. After a while, he glimpsed something off about the guy in the armor. It had cracks. And there was nothing inside...

No, no, it's not a ghost possessing that armor. he trembled, trying to deny the 'truth' It's a Stand! It's surely a Stand! But who is the user? That perverted foreigner woman? But what the blond woman is doing there without a Stand? I know, she is an Onmyouji, there to exorcise the evil spi- Stand. I'm saved! I will just wait here until she shows the Stand where its place and then thank her for delivering Gin-san from presence of that scary thing! By scaring away that SM stalker, definitely, she is some stalker out for the Onmyouji he thought, gripping his bokuto. If the pervert made a move on the woman in kimono, he would not care if she was a woman.

Mordred

"I have no clue where her apartment could be even vaguely, so the best bet is for your familiars to search districts between the police station and us for my lookalike. Maybe that will yield a result" she shrugged.
