Anastasia

Much to her dismay, the wizard discovered that she couldn't afford everything she needed for the most comprehensible version of tests she wanted to undertake. She had run out of cash by the time she bought everything required to test affinity for various elemental magics that were known to her world. But at very least, she might be able to confirm or rule out Medaka's affinity for that branch of sorcery. They could test for other types later or she could just borrow money from someone. She didn't like the second idea as someone who liked to be self-sufficient to a degree.

Either way, it would take some time to get back to her place where Medaka was supposed to still be.
Anastasia had her eyes metaphorically open for any distractions that could have awaited her on her way back.

"Do as you wish. I will only point out that if your actions collide with my convinctions, I am not going to stay idle." If he broke the peace here as he bragged, then he would undertake necessary actions. He did not seem to be armed, and Julius' trenchcoat was a metaphorical bag of holding which included many tools in case he was armed after all.

Hence, he was semi-confident that he took on him unless he hid some trick he couldn't expect and sense with his talent for uncovering the unnatural. Honestly, taking on true monsters in a way was quite easier if one took into account they quite a lot of weaknesses that could be uncovered and exploited to gain upper hand. And with God's blessing, he gained more prowess when facing such horrors.

"I need no respect nor I want to strive for it. I do the thankless job of protecting people. One day I get showered with praise but another day I am viewed like a lunatic who should have settled down instead of picking up fights. Yet I stubbornly fulfill my role." The Count stood up and declared full of convinction.

Fickle people like this man probably were even less respected by Julius than unabashed crooks and villains. Playing both? He would know? What a farce. Many of enemies he encountered were wiser even if steeped into evil and didn't take the difference between the light and the dark, the virtue and the vice, the good and the evil as lightly.

"Those who cannot find peace often value it most. Do not take me for a spoiled gentleman. I have faced outlaws who found nothing more pleasurable than tormenting the weak. I have braved dark castles filled with horrors that crushed sanity of many. If you want to break the peace, then I won't just sit idly."

There was solemnity in his words. And a hint of irritation. He really disliked idea of someone just treating the peace casually like that. The state of peace was fragile. His era was an era where Europe was engulfed in wars and his land of Transylvania was filled with monsters who treated the region as sort of holy land due to its reputation. This city wasn't any different.

"I cannot make it out what they're talking about unless I focus especially hard. But there's more optimal solution. Beseeching spiritual servants of Grandfather Thunder. I'd summon Stormcrows, humbly ask them for cooperation in our spy endeavor and get information through those 'little' birds. I probably don't make much sense given that you don't have the context and we don't have the time for lengthy explanation, but will you entrust this to me? I cannot guarantee we will go undetected yet we might glean more informations thanks to assistance of those curious spirits."

She was willing to take the risk, but she wasn't the only person with say here. If they shot down her proposition, she would relent and look for another way. Summoning minor spirits could be still detected after all if their quarry could pick off such subtle cues. The couple was quite on guard about the alleged demon due to the incident they mentioned.

The force of the blow would have been pretty devastating if not for the fact she could also regenerate. "Kuh, it's not like me either, getting trashed around like that!" She exclaimed in frustration at her mistake. Thankfully, the attack propelled her enough to put some distance between them.

Her tactic of switching to her more powerful but slower form when she was in Bey's range paid off only partly after all. She was able to deliver rather powerful attack, but her opponent managed to exploit Rikuyo's speed and reactions slowing down and countered too fast for her. She had no choice but too count on her regeneration again. She at least learned one thing: her foe was too fast for her trick to work. She had no choice but to whittle down him first. Maintain her speed and circle her like a wolf or shark and snipe at him from range. After all she could use her energy attacks. She couldn't afford to charge up, so she would just attack in small, quick bursts, hopping quickly from a tree to a rock and other obstacles and so on to hopefully not get caught again.

"Neither. I simply have too much free time on my hands after a job well done." He denied the man's assumption about him. He carefully 'sized up' Marcus. What he was up to? He knew similar types, and many of them were up to stir trouble in places they visited. He was convinced that the guy was possibly looking for a fight.

"If you have too much free time and look for a trouble, then I recommend to not disturb the peace here." He forewarned him.

Shortly after the group started observing their target, the target left their building contrary to expectations. Thankfully, no one of them seemed to had been noticed, though an accomplice of their quarry also left the place. What they would do now?

"Do we try to pursue her or we stalk the other target? What a conundrum." The werewolf mumbled out, her eyes still closed. "Still, she said something about preparing her 'grand entrance'. Do you have a clue what she could have possibly meant?"

A ritual or another feat of magic, chaos and mayhem or something else altogether? Whatever it was,  they could at least start some preparations themselves, after discussing what they could do and what resources they had at disposal. Obviously she was literally a lone wolf here, as there was no sept to fall back on and the local werewolves proved... different, hostile and probably just mockeries of werewolves anyway.

"A gentleman. It's good manners to wish a stranger a good day. If you are offended by this, then I have no intention to apologize." The man's outburst was questionable. Julius wasn't looking for a fight or argument, but he had his principles on which he wouldn't compromise.

Heh. Have he ran into certain someone or that was just a coincidence? Such thought flashed in her mind as he was introducing himself, with words that probably carried some meaning, but didn't tell her much.

Starting off with a form that favored strength was her mistake. A reckless beast he was, but he was much faster than her when she didn't prioritize speed. The strike sent her flying, crashing into one of rock formations, the damage to her guts healing, but still setting off all her pain receptors. For a maniac like her, any serious pain was a welcomed reminder that she ought to put effort into what she was doing at the moment. Adapt or die, eh?

So she decided to assume a mantle of wolf's leaner, swifter cousin. Wild dogs from a certain dark continent were much faster than wolves, so betting on one's speed was better here. She springed back to action, looking less imposing, but her wild looks not diminishing at all. She probably would react somewhat slower than her peak because of her injury, but she would be able to react much better than before anyway.

"Tch, warm up? I'm already on fire, heh!" She exclaimed in fervor as she leaped towards Bey, attempting to deliver a blow anywhere she could land it. She wondered how durable he actually was?

"Wait, wait, you don't have experience with spirits? Those ephemeral creatures reflect the natural world, so that's exactly why they could pass in a building because we'd just ask the native spirits that our target could have seen before... Gah, I'll 101 you, let's just go with the original plan." As much as she could provide a comprehensive lecture, they had neither time for a brief one. So basically, there was no time for talking a lot. So she promptly shut up and walked carefully together with the couple.

"Alright, I will just close my eyes and focus. Maybe I will already filter out something." The werewolf closed her eyes, crossed her arms and focused as hard as she could. As she furrowed her brows, her face probably looked a bit funny.

Whoah, whoah, so that was that after all. Hundreds, no thousands? She had always fought as 'one' or 'two'. Facing overwhelming numerical superiority like this was something she lived for. A challenge. She savagely grinned, not relenting in face of the pressure. Hmm, rules? Weren't she thinking before about observing rules. Ahhh, so be it.

"Sagrim-Ur, the youngest of the Firstborn, a sister to Fenris." Every word seemed to carry some unknown meaning as she recited her lineage in a brief and short manner. "But my title doesn't matter here much. I'm just Rikuyo at the end of the day as far as this place is concerned."

Her body started undergoing change, adjusting to her favorite form for now. A savage wolf woman, now taller than before and distinguished with long red tail, unkempt hair, golden eyes and pronounced canines that only emphasized her brutal demeanor.

The count glanced at the young man who greeted him casually. In this era to which Julius assimilated on surface he didn't stand out much from him by looks, but the noble still didn't lose that demeanor of his. A true gentleman would remain a gentleman no matter where he would end up.

"Good day. With whom do I have the pleasure?" He replied politely, extending his hand while tolerating his casual behavior. He had become used to strangers greeting him like that by now.

The bar remained pretty much empty, but maybe more people would come. He didn't exclude the possibility that people just arrived there later, usually.

Oh, someone was hiding after all under a rock she seemed to miss. Before she could respond to the man's accusation, she was under the pressure of a wave of predatory intent. This didn't cow the girl in slightest. Anyone with her relentless drive was thrilled and agitated rather than intimidated by any show of bloodlust. As if she tried to match the albino bastard, she grinned viciously herself.

"Haha, brat? Yer some kind of hermit geezer if you call this place your bedroom. Naaahhh, I've got no excuse. Such word is not in my dictionary. I wander wherever my whim takes and loaf around whenever I want. Umm, huh?" The redhead interrupted her tangent once she sensed something odd in midst of the bloodlust. His presence was heavy, in a different way than her own one. Ah, well, no point of dwelling on that.

The nobleman walked through the streets of the city, marveling at the scrap of the map he managed to uncover in a monster's hoard earlier. The map was written in a sort of cipher that it would take some time to uncover, but just a glean made him think that it possibly included some hints how to find other pieces of the map. After all it was 'torn' in a way that implied it wasn't a result of random damage, but a deliberate action. Anyway, he needed to find some kind of expert to assist his endeavor. He considered whom he could ask for help, but for now, he needed some rest.

Because of the fact that he didn't have much money left as he spent the recovered treasure for charitable purposes, he decided to visit a cheaper establishment. A pub, eh? He heard it's how inns were called in Great Britain. He could get some taste of the country's iconic beer, if a pub in this city indeed served British beer.

The gentleman seated himself and ordered a beer, glancing around in the currently empty pub. Not many clients at this hour? He could appreciate having someone to talk with.
