Sakagami Kenzo
Kenzo smiled and walked down the halls. There was a library shelf at the end of a corridor, he walked up to it and pushed it, revealing a trapdoor leading to a secret passage. He held the doorknob and used all his strength to lift the metal door.
Finally, he opened it, revealing a staircase tunnel. He waved his head towards the hole, urging the girl to follow him.
He walked down the dark halls, not bothered in the slightest by the lack of light. To him, the darkness was like his home, an old friend. He was silent the whole time, but suddenly he spoke.
His voice was neither the joyful one of before, nor was it the saddened weakness from earlier. It was stern, calm. She, of all people needed to know the truth. He owed her that much.
“There was once an old demon who lived on his own underground. Sometimes, he would come out to see the world above. Wherever he went, everything broke. This attracted the anger of those who lived there, who shunned and attacked the beast. No matter where he went, the demon was always alone.
He envied those humans, those bonds they could make so easily. He couldn’t do that, no matter how much he prayed and commanded. All I could do was break. Landscapes, villages, people, even bonds. All he wanted was to love like others, but the only thing he could do was destroy. So, he decided to give up, all of it. He saw no point in this world, not a world without love. So he let his selfishness overtake him, and destroyed.
And one day, I met her. She was the only one who would not break. She was… gentle.”
For a moment, Kenzo stopped. Even if the darkness was hiding his features, one could tell that for a moment, his expression betrayed him. He seemed truly sad.
“Sorry, I’m rambling. Anyway, I was really happy. Finally, after so long, I had a bond. I realized that my destruction was pointless, and she helped me live properly. She taught me how to love, how to care and how to protect. I didn’t need to break anything anymore. But one day, something went wrong. I was changing back, turning into the monster from before. No matter what I tried, those negative feelings kept growing like a cancer.
An Oni cannot survive as long as he does not sustain itself on bloodshed. I tried to… end it, but in the end, I couldn’t do it. Only a human’s sword can cut a demon, neither a monster nor an animal can end me. I did my best to slow it down, but it seems it’s starting to get the better of me… you know the rest.”
As he said that, the two seemed to be standing in front of a massive gate of sorts, ornated in elaborate carvings of what seemed to be serpents with human faces, coiling into a massive body of a hound with an ogre at the place of its head.
“Akatsuki… If you are truly an ally of humanity, then surely you understand. I am the evil you must defeat.” He said calmly, his red hair hiding his eyes. What expression they veiled none would know.
Count Greyskull
The skeleton lord walked up to Forest. She seemed to have jumped to a different place already. He sighed, women were always complicated like that.
"Forest, we need to talk."
