John: the guy whos not getting paid enough

Bullseye was one of those stores that did not treat their employees well.  Long hours, incompetent managers and pay that was way too low: this was just something you had to deal with as part of the day to day life of a bullseye worker.  It was tiring, but it wasn't all bad, so long as no one stired up any trouble.

"That level is far beyond you right now..."

Wow she sounds serious, that simple thought bounced through the mind of John amidst a sea of wandering thoughts.  He was just turning a corner when he saw a redhaired girl light up with fire, coming ever so close to the merchandise he was at least partially responsible for.

"Oh no..."

There was a busty girl there too, puffing her chest out like a cornered gorilla defending his land.  This was some sort of stupid fight or something between supernaturals.  It had to be.

"Wait!"

Suerte

"Oh you think your being cute huh?" she asked with a grin.  "I'll show you hot!"

A voice of protest could be heard in the background.  "OK guys... Please!"  It was ignored.

The cowgirl drew her pistol and fired into the air.  A bullet sailed into the air then bounced off of the ceiling and back to the ground.  The second the bullet collided with the floor, it shattered, lighting some papers that were scattered on the floor on fire.  It didn't look as cool as the girl's flames, but she can make things hot too!

Suerte looked down at her flames, then at the girl.  "Crap!  I think I lost this duel," she said with a dissatisfied huff.

Lily

The fire elemental was far beyond caring for the cries of the masses, they did not even register to a being of her supreme status. Well they did, but she would ignore anyone who was utterly irrelevant and boring, she did not like interacting with boring people oh no, she did not. A glare containing the tiniest fraction of the tiniest fraction of the killing intent that had been brewing ever since that day, that day that had set off her unprecendent but wholly justified killing spree was released, and it's target was the annoying ant yelling at them.

"You lost before it had even begun, knowledge is half the battle... and the other part is winning!"

Lily kicked the burning papers into the air with her foot and then drew her blade. An impossibly clean slice was delivered, cutting them into perfect squares, no not the papers but the fire itself.

Tsumiko

Tsumiko wore a melancholic smile as she leaned against the wall of a dilapidated building. Her home, for now. Until she had to move again. It was barely more than a shack. She ran her hand against the cracking bricks and closed her eyes for a brief moment.

Of course, she saw the same terrible scene she always did when she closed her eyes. That same familiar scene from all those years ago, the feelings as real as to her now as the moment she'd been born there. The large musty cavern shattered after a seemingly epic fight, exploding outward as the corrosive mud fell from the sky...

She opened her eyes once more and stood up, stretching her arms out.

This was no time for her to mope about her problems. She had important work to do, to clennse herself. She didn't have the luxury of taking a moment to pity herself right now. So she set off to do the work that needed to be done. The sun was about to come up, after all.

After several hours of work, Tsumiko finally decided to call it quits for the day. She had a happy smile on her face. It'd been a good productive day. Someone had even given her a nice tip that she was going to buy dinner with. Her body was in sync, and the dark thoughts had receeded for a while.

Humming a soft turn, she began to head to the grocery store, jumping from rooftop to rooftop with practiced little steps.

She loved this city, and would do anything in order to protect it.

Thea

The empress had descended to a lower elevation with graceful ease, and took a seat for herself on the edge of a three story structure with her eyes closed. She had seen the sights, the fast moving metal carriages that so few remained of in her time. Flying machines in the sky moving on rotary blades through the air with nary a word of wonder or awe. She could sense the thoughts of everyone on those magnificent boulevard as they, and sense their feeble anxieties about their day to day lives. They did not see what they had.

So many glorious things, so effortlessly displayed, it made Thea's heart clench with avarice. This city was a magnificent place to behold. She was swiftly resolved to do anything in order to claim it.

But then she felt a trio approach her from behind, and breathed in to take their measure as they reached her rooftop. "Hello there," she said without turning to face them.

Suerte

Suerte just sort of stared at this girl that just cut fire.  Not the paper.  This small redheaded girl cut the fire.  How was she supposed to top that?

Rather than use her gun, she holstered the weapon and began fanning the fire with her hands.  After all, you didn't need to put out a fire with some fancy sword.  All she needed was the home grown hands of a girl working in the dessert!  She waved as fast as she could, generating enough wind to... fuel the split fire with the extra oxygen.  The flames blossomed bigger and bigger, until the edges of the flame graced the clothing racks surrounding them.

John: the guy who is not getting paid enough

"Ma'am," he said, trying his damnest to not sound like a feeble mouse.  "Please stop using your powers and put away the blade.  If you keep playing with fire, this whole place could burn do-"

He stopped there, jumping back after feeling an intense chill from that girl.  He gave a yelp before running towards the break room in the back.

Tsumiko

Tsumiko skidded to a stop, reinforcing herself just in case. She called up the images of Kansou and Byakuya as well, leaving them ready to materialize with but a single thought. "Hello. What are you doing up here?"

Tsumiko was always cautious. After all, anybody could always be yet another assassin that'd been sent after her.

Thea

A girl, then. That much should have been obvious, but then who were the other two? Thea wasn't ready to turn around just yet, even as her hand rested on the hilt of the knife hidden in her boots. "You three seem to be in a hurry. Is this location... unsafe?"

Not from her initial readings of the locals, but this one... their thoughts seemed to almost blend together in a way that made following the flow of them more difficult than most.

Tsumiko

Tsumiko's watchful eyes narrowed as she watched the girl tense up. She was probably reaching for a hidden weapon. She rated the chances of this being another attempt on her life to be rather high.

"Tch." Tsumiko tensed up, her muscles ready for her to explosively burst towards Thea. "I'm the only one here. I don't know what in the world you're talking about!" Tsumiko exclaimed angrily as if a raw nerve had been scraped bloody.

"What are you doing here?! It's really suspicious to just happen to be sitting up here, as if you were waiting for me in a secluded spot!"

Archer

Archer blinked as Amanda began to chant in an unfamiliar language.  I have a sneaking suspicion it's gibberish, he thought until a red glowing pentagram showed up at Amanda's feet.  She was highlighted by the crimson glow as it flickered across her features before it was gone.

He eyed her for a moment until he saw a black tail snake out from underneath her skirt and feline ears appear on the top of her head.   Tilting his head, he reached out and stroked the left feline ear as if he was petting his own cat.  "I could call you a pretty kitty," Archer said with a smile as he found the spot that drove his cat into a liquid mass of purrs.

He wondered if it would do the same to her.

Ananta

She dusted herself off. Pulverized stone status got everywhere! It was a good thing she wasn't wearing anything too intricate. "That wasn't too bad. I hope they don't come back from the dead though." The earth eating your enemies' bodies was rarely good."

Lugh

Lugh shrugged his shoulders but smiled. Not baring his teeth, but an honest smile that made him look more like a normal boy. "If they weren't bad I wouldn't have been able to rip them apart. Don't take things that will break in one fight." Wisdom, truly.

Thea

That made Thea finally turn her head to look over her shoulder with her sharp purple eyes. The sight made her flinch back as a memory long past flickered through the empress' mind, feeble and fleeting but striking at something primal inside of her. She resisted a shiver, and removed her hand from her boot slowly to stand. "My mistake. I could have sworn I sensed more than one person here."

She bowed her head in apology, and then smiled faintly. "Forgive me. This meeting was not planned."

Amanda

The tail grew tense like a coil drawn out to far, and she edged away from archer giggling out of control. "Stop! That tickles!" Amanda tried swatting his hand away with feeble attempts, he was much stronger than her normally and she couldn't even even summon any strength right now, damn him.

"Just bring me home so I can have your milk myaster~" Let's see how you deal with that, you pretty boy.

Tsumiko

Tsumiko gave an equally vague smile in return, relaxing her posture, but keeping her projections in the forefront of her mind. She called hrunting to the front of her mind as well. These assassins were always wily. One could never be too prepared in a fight against them. If she was attacked, she was absolutely ready to kill her without a second thought.

...However she'd rather avoid that outcome if at all possible.

"It's fine." She said curtly. "Think nothing of it. What are you doing up here, anyway?" Her sentences were short and her tone terse, as if she was holding a great deal of emotions back. She could feel a soft throbbing at the back of her mind. What a great way to ruin a perfectly good day.

IS this my just punishment? She wondered if she'd ever do enough to be forgiven.

Valerie

"Who? Me? No, not at all, never," She shook her head fervently, absolutely determined to divorce herself from this slander. "I would never partake in such scandalous activity, to even suggest the great King would do so is an offense most severe, and one I cannot overlook, not even from an esteemed guest like yourself Lord Yusho."

She finally relaxed as the overwhelming high mellowed out into something far more manageable. "It is quite clear to me that you have succumbed to your bestial desires and seek to claim me. Oh, to think I have brought such a dangerous man before me."

Yusho

He rubbed at his sore neck dubiously, retorting with flightly words pouring from his throat. "Esteemed, am I? But dangerous! I assure you I'm as peaceful as a monk. And for all this scandal, you haven't left my lap, my lord."

THe martial artist leaned closer by an inch, eye sparkling. Yusho was probably playing with fire, but then, he was a dragon. Practically in his blood to stretch his luck, he thought as he asked, "Is this comfortable for you?"

Archer

Archer chuckled as Amanda feebly swiped at him, complaining about it tickling.  He rubbed along the back of her ear and said, "But you're being such a good kitty."

"Just bring me home so I can have your milk myaster~" she said, an impish gleam in her aquamarine eyes.

His cheeks flushed, but he managed to say, "So, you want me to pet your kitty then?"

Thea

"I'm new to this city. This... Nexus, as they call it." Thea adjusted one of her gloves by tugging it more firmly over her fingers, and smiled wider. "So I was taking in the view. Watching the people here as they mull about their humdrum daily lives."

Then the smile faded. "You're planning to attack me, if I move wrong. A wise precaution with all the fear I see in these people."

It was disgusting to see the people live in fear of something other than herself. This was not the anxiety of a populace who were ruled by strong, capable, and properly ruthless leaders. It was families and isolation and monsters in the night waiting for the light of the law to move on so they could strike.
